Yeah nah. I have two of these. The problem is that there is an internal plastic bladder that gets collapsed by the vacuum created as the oil is used up - making it a PITA to refill because the bladder tends to remain all collapsed and crinkly. Nobody likes a collapsed bladder. The spray action is pretty good tho, I guess. Also they go for half price quite often, I got mine for $6 ea.

      half price quite often…
Haven't seen it half price for a long time.
Last Deal was 16 months ago.
You should have posted it. They're great. Am after another, but only seem available locally when on special.

Bladder is easily inflated before filling by blowing into it. Takes seconds. Others have posted that in previous Deals

Mmm, yes, use your breath to blow into an oil sprayer before spraying it all over other people's salads.

        • +1

          Yum! But it works.

          • +2

@INFIDEL: It does work for sure :) The secret is not to tell other family members what you did…

            • +1

@segfault: Fun activity in a time of Covid!!

I just half fill, so no need to inflate as others suggested. Better to keep oil in dark bottle in cupboard than in clear sprayer on counter.

      • Not sure I'm at all comfortable with the hygiene implications of people blowing into a food container, but yes it is frustrating to refill.

        • +2

More hygienic method is to remove the, put your mouth over the hole on the bottom of the container and suck all the air out, inflating the bladder.

These things suck unless you like cleaning up vapourised oil from every nook and cranny in your kitchen.

          • @skooter: That's much better. There is a one way valve in the middle of the base. Sucking on it with the top removed, inflates the bladder.

    • +2

Previous comments on an OzBargain deal on the sprayer mentioned there is a small hole in the bottom, if you gently suck on that, it pulls the bladder against the outside. Makes it so much easier.

      • Works great 👍
Just remove top & suck on the one way valve in base. Quickly inflates the bladder.

        • I've had one of these for over a year and use it regularly… this trick just saved me a lot of mucking around filling. Had no idea about the base valve! Thanks!!

          • @mrbargainhunter: I was pleased to learn about the hole in the base here… but couldn't find it.
So tried sucking middle of base & realised it's a 1 way valve!
            A game changer!

Not an issue. All you do is fill to just below the neck then hold it in one hand by your side with a finger under the bottom. Then spin your arm around like a windmill. The centrifugal force pushes the oil into the bag. Repeat three times and it is full. Just like spinning a billy can to settle the tea leaves.

Crikey, knowing my skills the greasy bottle would probably slip from my grasp and deposit the contents on the ceiling :)

This is exactly what I've been doing for over a year until I read this comment and just tried it with amazing results!!

    • The collapsed bladder is annoying but i use a chopstick to push it back into shape and it’s as good as new again.

  • +1

yeah mine for some reason when I filled it up recently stop atomising the spray when I filled it up with olive oil… had read reports of this in the past also… Was about 12 months old so I guess thats the life cycle of this sprayer?

    • +1

Mine worked wll for almost two years.Cant expect more .Now it is just a jet.
I bought couple of them today after waiting for few weeks to go on sale.
I bought current one for 6 bucks from WOW.

    • Yes - my $6 one lasted a year or more before sprayer just put out a useless jet of oil. Miss using it. Willing to try another one.

  • I use chopstick or smootb spoon handle to open up the bladder.
Used many sprayers and this is the best at this price

    • I've only had mine a few months ago so maybe it's not old enough to have bladder issues (lol) but I don't find it too much trouble to fill up. I find giving it a tap on the bench once it's mostly full is enough to get it to expand enough using the partially refilled mass. Repeat once or twice more of you need. No poking around needed.

  • As Coles & Woolies often alternate specials & past Deals were for Woolies @$6, I wonder if it will be on special soon @Woolies (can then use discount eGift card).

    • Now $6 @Woolies as expected.

  • How do you clean it? It's difficult enough cleaning any container that's had oil in it, let alone something like this with the bladder. Any cleaning tips will be appreciated.

  • Bought today @Coles for $7!
Shelf tag shows 30% off $10.

    • +1

Next store had it at $8.40.
      $12 @Woolues
      Unexpired the Deal

  • Now $11 @Coles.
    $6 @Woolies or Amazon
