  • Why so cheap?

      • That, and the next generation of Android SoCs are about to get announced, and the Cortex X1 cores being used (typically just one) guarantees upwards of a 30% boost in single threaded performance.

GPU performance is also expected to get a bump, along with 120Hz OLED being more mainstream. Still, this is a solid deal for a top-performing phone with a good feature set.

Biggest issue here is that they're only listing 29 phones in total, which makes this more of a raffle than a sale.

        • Where does it say there is only 29 phones for the 11.11 sale?

          • @adr8: It doesn't, so that can change, but as of right now when you set your options, there are 20 black phones, and 9 grey.

            • @jasswolf: Pretty sure that counter will be reset on 11.11.

        • any thoughts on whether it is better to wait for next gen release or is price for BS3 so low its worth grabbing it now? also I heard the rumoured Snapdragon 875 cpu might be 50% more expensive - which may see phones with 865 retain its value for a while longer

          • @OZcheepsk8: I'd expect a price increase, but for otherwise the same hardware, nothing like 50%. Flagships may have new cameras, slightly updated screens, new modems, bluetooth chips, etc.

Between Bluetooth 5.2 and the Cortex X1, I would wait if you can, just be mindful that you may want to dodge the ultra-flagship brands in favour of something a little more budget conscious.

@jasswolf: Thanks for the insight. Did a little read on what you mentioned re Bluetooth 5.3 and think it's worth waiting.

Remember to check your required bands. This phone seems to be missing a number of key Australian bands on both 4g (B28) and 5g (n40, n28 and n5 - not many phones support these bands yet though).

    • Yeah they've advertised it as the Global version but specs in description are for the Non global version.
Easy to get caught out on these.

      • Easy enough to contact the seller and confirm.

        • Previous experience with AliExpress sellers tells me that's not always the case.

          • @CheapGit: It's China's version of eBay storefronts, you're not dealing with the same retailer and CS team each time. That's like being annoyed with a phonebook.

Respect that their English may not always be the greatest and show an easy reference to highlight your concern, like this:

@jasswolf: I know what AliExpress is and I know how to search on Kimovil, but thanks anyway for the info.

Though even dealing with AliExpress Customer service direct with issues is never straight forward never mind the actual seller, so I tend to stick with official stores on there.

  • As nitens mentioned above seems to be missing B28 which the global version has. I'm trying to find the global version phone but seems sketchy af on aliexpress. Anyone know if there is any visible difference between CN and global version variants?

  • No NFC as per gsmarena

  • Cheapest is $600, can't get the other coupons working
