        Surprised you, panda?

    • I dunno, i would still pay extra for the gearbite support and warranty.

I lost the monitor stand base screw recently and tried to order one through Xiaomi global, they just told me they can't sell it separately and to get lost. Wouldn't even give me the dimensions so i could find a replacement.

Contacted gearbite and they prompty sent me a new one via express post.

  • Can any other offers or cashback be stacked with this?

    • +2

      Cashrewards at 5%

    • Up to 8% Shopback

  • +3

    still waiting for black Friday!!!!!

  • With cashrewards cashback at 5%, this becomes AUD 472.61.
Good deal imo, but it's Banggood :/

    • +1

I think the coupon code might not be recognised by cashback websites..

      • Aha.. completely forgot that.
I am waiting for Black Friday anyway.

        • +2

The cashback might work - mine was tracked but won't know for sure until I get the money out..

  • I dont like banggood

  • Banggood so grey import?

  • +1

    come on! Make it 350!!!!

Make it 350, you make my day!

    • +4

Make it $299 for a full tax deduction.

  • How long does this take to ship?

I know it says 1 week delivery special, but you guys say this is a grey import so its a bloody lie or what?

    • having ordered it..
      it's a dropshipper, so YMMV

previous shipping from banggood (I ordered a HD Storer) saw my order placed on Oct 24th (given to the courier 2 days later), and delivery (to my Melbourne address) on Nov 6th

    • For me AU warehouse everything has shipped within days and received within a week. CN warehouse is a lottery.

      • Cool, so select AU and should be all good?

Not sure why people saying its a grey import, it says 1 week shipping. Must be local.

        • +2

Grey import doesn't just refer to shipping location but also local warranty support and specific models to Australian standards when it come to electrical with SAA etc. In this case you will need to deal with BG, you can't deal directly with xiaomi for repairs or replacements or any warranty claims and I think you won't even have ACL rights because they might not be a ABN holder

          • @DoesntEvenMatter: Ah, I see, so that is why gearbite is prefered, as it says they give local AU warranty?

            • +2

@dbmitch: Yes there a official aussie reseller for xiaomi which means it's all manufactured to Australian standard and approvals

          • +2

            @DoesntEvenMatter:

I think you won't even have ACL rights because they might not be a ABN holder

Not having an ABN does not absolve an international retailer of their obligations under ACL. Enforcing it is the issue.

Bunnings, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, etc all flagrantly breach ACL in my experience. Good luck getting Banggood to comply with it.

  • Hopefully black Friday it will come more cheaper

    • You think it will be 450?

      • -1

yes. because i know that they offer more cheap price at black Friday

  • Thanks almost bought one on Amazon without a deal 2 days ago.

    • of course, its $600 there lol.

    • Update guys, it's pretty nice. Ordered on 12 Nov, delivered without issue (did not pay delivery insurance) on 16 Nov. Sydney region.

  • How is this monitor compare to Dell 27" QHD S2721DGF?

    • Main differences are obviously ultrawide Res, 2k, IPS screen vs VA.

OTher than that, I dont know why its so expensive compared to this 34 inch screen .

      • +1

The Dell panel just seems to be higher quality, it is also HDR certified, this Xiaomi monitor is SDR only. The Dell monitor also has a 4x USB 3.0 Hub built-in, this monitor doesn't (the Dell has one less DP input though).

The Dell has much higher peak brightness, almost 500nits with HDR or 400nits with manual brightness compared to the 300nits of this Xiaomi. The Dell also has a 10-bit panel capable of 1.07 billion colours, although its not a true 10bit panel, just 8 bit + FRC while the Xiaomi is at best a 8bit panel capable of 16.8 million colours.

        • So its a very professional monitor.

Hmm, would the average gamer notice the difference for thier needs?

          • @dbmitch: Look up hardware unboxed videos for both monitors on YouTube.

  • +1

Gearbite seem to have local stock. Use 15% off to get the same price

    • How do you get 15% off?

      • GEARBITE15 gives 15% off storewide, which brings this down to $510 with them.

        • This deal says 1 week shipping and its from the AU warehouse, is it not local stock as well?

Edit: I can see why you lads want gearbite, they offer AU warranty as standard.

          • +1

@dbmitch: Oh my god! I just literally bought the last one from Gearbite. Now it's saying sold out!
And now I'm feeling good about it.

  • +1

PSA this won't work with PS5

    • Interesting, i dont have consoles myself, but I'm surprised to learn of this, why is this so?

      • +1

I think he means the native resolution
I’m sure the panel will still works if it has hdmi

      • Probably it works, but you'd get black bars and only a 2560x1440 display.

The Switch is like that with 1080p ultrawides.

        • Its covered in the Hardware unboxed review. I cant remember the exact reason why but i think its something to do with it doesnt support higher refresh rate over the interface the new consoles use.

      • +1

The PS5 doesn't support 1440p or ultrawide resolutions. You'd be playing it in a 1920x1080 box in the middle of the screen with big black borders all around.

  • Thanks OP.. bought 2..
works out ~AUD490 each using 28 Degrees' exchange rate.

    • Hey I'm curious to know, is there any advantage to using 28 Degrees card to purchase goods from the US in USD from AUD?

Normally just use paypal or debit card with AUD in it.

      • You'd be using PayPal's conversion rates, which are worse than the MasterCard/Visa exchange rate you'd pay if you paid with USD. The caveat is most banks change an international conversion fee (usually 3% last time I looked) which negates the benefit.

It varies but generally Visa has the most favourable exchange rates. Ubank offers a transaction account with a Visa debit card and doesn't charge an international conversion fee.

        • so basically a ubank card & account is the best "least jumping through hoops" method for the least amount of exchange and fees when buying from an international currency site such as amazon US in USD for example?

          • @dbmitch: 28 degrees would be probably just as low fee and it's a credit card instead of debit card.

            • @perthhunter: Hmm, don't think I'll use the credit enough to match the minimums, better go debit.

            • +1

@perthhunter: 28 Degrees is MasterCard though so you're getting less favourable rates than with Ubank. It's been a few years since I've checked but the conversion rate was pretty distinctly better with Visa. Probably more than any benefit you'd get from a credit card rewards scheme.

      why do you need 2?

      • downvote for 2

  • thanks.
    ordered 1 from gearbite.

  • Had 1 arrive from Gearbite, it looks flipping amazing on MSFS2020. Highly recommend

  • I’m fighting with myself in my head. This, or the 34GL750-B, which is $300 more - but, is it worth the better-ness.

    • +1

I had conflicted feelings too. I was originally going to get the DELL 27 IPS panel but then I thought, Xiaomi has pretty much met my need and spec for gaming and once i purchased it, other options won't bother me anymore.

      • The only thing that worries me is that someone said you get ghosting. Do you see much if that? My goal is Flight Sim 2020 and Battlefield 5. And then desktop work (Development and browsing).

        • +2

Yes, there is ghosting. It's mainly dark level smearing. Will you notice it? Depends on what monitor you're coming from, and on the game, and whether you're paying attention to it. If you're staring at your desktop with a bright background and moving a command prompt window around, you will definitely notice it, but that's a pretty extreme situation that doesn't really matter. I find it depends heavily on the game, because of the environments you play in, and the pace at which the game is played. I also notice it more because I previously had a TN 144hz 1ms monitor which was significantly faster…. but the colours on that are atrocious compared to the Xiaomi.

For Flight Sim, you probably won't notice it, even flying at night. For BF5, probably a little occasionally, but it won't be too bad. I play lots of Insurgency and don't notice the ghosting much in that game. Same with Warzone and CSGO. I find Witcher 3 has a lot of contrast and it's noticeable but definitely tolerable in that game as it's not very fast paced. In Doom Eternal, which is a very fast-paced game, the dark smearing can be pretty bad in some levels to the point where I nearly regretted buying the monitor. But then I compare the colours to my old TN, and I remember the games where I don't notice it, and found that despite the ghosting being noticeable sometimes, the upgrade for me was well and truly worth it overall, considering the price of this monitor.

For productivity, you will not notice it at all.

I say go for it, buy one.

    • +1

      Isn't the 34GL750-B 1080p? The Xiaomi is 1440p.

The higher resolution is probably the most noticible to the naked eye.

      • Oh man. I thought it was opposite. But you’re right. Wow. Good catch!

        • Good spot! its a good monitor, but its 1080!

How the hell is that $700 at 1080p!? XD

  • Can they sell from local warehouse and in AUD and not offer local warranty? Exempt from consumer law?

    • Anyone engaged in trade or commerce within Australia for applicable goods or services of a value less than 40k is covered by ACL. However, I don't believe that necessitates a 'local' warranty and enforcing it would be difficult or impossible if you have issues (as it is with most Australian retailers, despite what their policies say).

  • Pretty S U S it still says 0 pieces sold.

  • just noticed cashrewards/ shopback offer 5% cash back, out of pocket total around $480, not bad deal now
    https://www.cashrewards.com.au/banggood-com
    https://www.shopback.com.au/banggood-com

    • I thought, if you used a coupon, it doesn’t validate.

      • You can still earn cashback with coupon usage, there's just a chance that you might not get it for coupons that aren't listed on the cashback site.

      • worth give it a go, nothing you can lose…

  • So warranty is a problem with this, as getting a fault - returning it to somewhere would be very costly?

    • +1

Banggood would legally be required to cover the cost of return postage under ACL. However I'd never purchase something from a Chinese ecommerce site expecting any sort of warranty support.

I've even stopped shopping at most Australian retailers whenever possible because of their refusals to honour ACL.

      • Id pay a reasonable extra to get warranty. I believe gearbite are ok with warranty? But sold out. Are there any other reasonably closely prices Aussie retailers?

      • Yep, this is why I'm not buying this one. I'm waiting for the next one of these to pop up

  • Can anyone here please tell me if this monitor can provide 144hz at lower resolutions or are we stuck on using it on WQHD

    • i dont see why you wouldnt be able to?
My current monitor can keep 144hz refresh at lower resolutions

    • +1

I have tried to lower the resolution and the text all blurry and only able to get to 75Hz. With full res, I can get up to 100Hz on my ThinkPad docking station.

    • You might need to be more specific with what you intend to use it with, I have it currently hooked up to my PC using the DisplayPort cable provided and the answer is yes, I can set it to a lower resolution @144hz. Its not great because it does make text and image a bit fuzzy but you can set it.

If you set it to a resolution other then the default 21:9 ratio, let say 1920x1080p, it will depend on you scaling settings, if you set it fill or stretch then the picture will be stretched to fit the full 21:9 ration, however if you turn of scaling the monitor will display the image with black bars to either side of the screen.

      • Thanks All for replying, My usage is gaming my GPU is not powerful enough to drive 144hz on a 1440p resolution so I will have to use 1080p or 720p sometimes. This is why I would like to know if I can use 144 or 120hz in those resolutions. I am unable to find Xiaomi manual online usually it will be listed in it.

  • Seems code was expired.

    • da faq, the deal was 10 more days, flash deals my ass.

  • Has anybody received their monitor yet? I ordered 12 November and it says its still in Sydney. I emailed the couriers who said they have received the item and it is in their sorting facility (for 7 days)…
