Eligible purchases excludes Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Special Promotions (for example, transfers to other accounts with a Fixed Payment Option), refunds and chargebacks, purchases of foreign currency and travellers cheques, transactions made in operating a business, payments to other Citi Accounts, bank fees and charges such as interest and ATM charges, and transactions made using Rewards Points.

  • If it's issued by Citibank chances are everything is included.

  • What's the eligibility criteria? Can I still apply if I had the card previously and have cancelled it?

    • +1

You should still be eligible as Citibank doesn't have an exclusion period.

      • What about if I currently have a Kogan credit card? Can I apply for another? Or do I have to close it first and open another?

        • +1

Best to close it off first as I heard a few people gtting rejected for trying to apply for two Citibank cc.

Good luck with Citigroup - In my experience they are tough to deal with and with an overseas call center = problems.

I have a Coles credit card which was with Latitude Financial before and now with Citibank.
After it was taken over by Citibank , its a pain dealing with them.
The only reason i still have the card is because i cant find a better one for my needs.

    • They are a real pain in the ass. But never give up!

The good ol introductory offer of $500 credit for $1000 spend on this was terrific. I would jump on this if Citibank hadn't already dragged my credit rating through the dirt.

    • What did they do?

      • Checked my credit score multiple (4) times for 1 application, ruining my credit score and haven't been able to apply for another credit card for some 6 months now.

This and not giving reasons for rejection even though all the criteria were met.

Sticking with ANZ,NAB and St george for now.

        • +1

Sorry to hear they did that to you.

    • Also beware of some purchases that may not seem government but are. If these get subtracted and you end up with just under $500 of eligible purchases, you get $0.

$500 and no annual fee is pretty solid

    • If you actually get it.

  • Been waiting for this. Thanks OP, will apply. I believe the customer service is abysmal with this card but I have another credit card issued by Citibank with no problems so I will take my chances.

  • Previous customers eligible? I can't find TOS.

    Also FYI
The Kogan.com Credit will be credited to your Kogan.com account up to 10 weeks after the end of the qualifying period, and will expire 12 months from the date it is applied.

    • "10 weeks after qualifying period "

So does it mean, if i spend $4000 in first month, then I have to wait another 2.5 months to get the $500 credit.

      • +1

yup, mine took the full 10 weeks

        • 10 weeks.wow

      • Is it that, or is it 10 weeks from the end of the 4 month qualifying period? i.e 4 months + 10 weeks = 6.5 months!? Wording is a bit ambigious

        • Just spoke to a customer consultant and they confirmed the 10 weeks start from the end of the 4 month qualifying period. So it is about 6.5 months wait. That has definitely put me off!

  • I'm assuming the $500 credit can be spent on anything within the Kogan store? Looks like points earnt can only be spent on Kogan exclusives

    • +3

No, pts can be used on anything on Kogan, e.g. items from 3rd party sellers. It is very flexible setting that you can adjust how many pts to use. Each pt takes the price down by 1c.

      • ok cool, thanks

  • Haven't exactly tested but the credit from Plus Rewards was fine to purchase Pixel 5 case from 3rd party seller so my guess is yes.

  • My wife got an expensive $3000 exam coming up next month. Do you think it will be counted towards the $4000 ?

    • Worth trying.

    • any fees to pay for that exam using credit card?

      • Yeah, $3000 fee is required to be paid by credit card.

    • +1

If the trxn yields pts, it is an eligible spend towards $4,000.

Have this card, and got the $500 credit. But tons of hassle and frustration. Getting a secondary cardholder after having already applied and been approved was a complete nightmare. It's like Citibank, but with new processes that the staff don't yet understand.

The way they present it like a "Black" card is misleading as anything - it's not a prestige card by any stretch, just black in colour.

It may seem like a good deal, but if you run into any issues, the $500 will be hard-earned.

Any idea on how long I have to wait if I used this offer last year and cancelled the card?

Their app wasnt the greatest - You have to do SMS validation everytime you want to open it, and then more validation if you want to do anything else within the app. Well worth it though for a free nintendo switch basically, although the kogan store is full of junk when you actually look at it

    • No exclusion period.

  • Anyone who is still holding this credit card, worth closing waiting a couple of days and applying for it?

    • That’s what I’m wondering…

    • Anyone rolled the dice on this?

  • I've had alot of credit cards over the years, (paid off 100% monthly; every month) have tried applying for this card twice and both times got rejected (this week and maybe 2 years ago) both times I got a call asking to clarify info that I suspected would cause issues due to not having the right options in the application process (business income etc). After clarifying I confirmed with them to make sure the application is all okay and if there is anything else I can provide to ensure it will all go through and they say "it all looks good, should be fine" then an hour or so later an email saying it was unsuccessful.

Never been rejected any other application even when in a position of lower salary and higher risk.

Pretty sure it's due to their application form being a little too basic, there are options for things like "additional income" but after finalizing it only provides two options (neither relevant to me or probably most people)

My advice would be if you are to apply for this card avoid making your application complicated, just report your annual income, leave out any additional income like if you have a business or anything additional like that as they just seem to reject the less simple applications even if you have no debt, low monthly expenses and a much higher than required salary.

    • There is usually no point in putting in extra income. If you already earn a somewhat normal salary, leave out the rest.

  • Can we buy any other gift card from Kogan? Lime JB/Coles or Woolies anything??

  • Applied, preapproved, happy

    1hour later rejected, sad.

    • Welcome to Citibank cards

Where a t not crossed in the right place your done.

  • Does it affect your credit score if you get rejected?

    • Lowers your credit score when you apply for sure. I believe it is lowered further if you are rejected. So a likely double whammy effect.

  • Finally approved today so am quite happy. Took about 3 weeks with the same payslip having to be uploaded several times. I thought the process would be more painful and would probably be rejected despite a good credit rating.

  • Anyone re applied under 12 months?
