  • how easy is it to setup an account?

    • +5

Create a SunSuper account which is easy and activates instantly. I think you need to "unlock the reward" once your account is created

      https://www.sunsuper.com.au/dream-rewards/the-good-guys

Then wait a few days for GGC to create your account

      • Is there any fee if you sign up for SunSuper?

      • +1

        Thanks I've just created it.
I've been meaning to get the oracle for so long

      • Just hijacking a higher thread to say that if you buy this machine you should be able to claim this from Breville directly:

        https://promotions.breville.com.au/barista-gift-pack-october…

EDIT: I think I might be wrong with this, BES980BKS is not in the "participating products"

        https://promotions.breville.com.au/images/terms/Breville-Esp…

Section 14. a lists the BES980 Black Sesame

"Gift Pack 1 : Purchases of the Oracle® Touch in Stainless Steel or Black Truffle (BES990)
or the Oracle® in Stainless Steel or Black Sesame (BES980) will receive the Barista Collection Gift Pack and 2 months of fresh coffee beans from St. ALi"

          • @strife: Awesome, thanks for pointing that out! I submitted my claim this morning and will point them to that section of their terms if they reject my claim.

            • @ozrex: Doesn't work as its corporate purchase i tried yesterday

          • @strife: Wow, great find! I hope everyone who makes the claim gets in honoured :)

          • +1

@strife: Think breville may have updated the t&c as it doesn’t list the 980 bks anymore in 14a?

Thanks OP - been waiting for this.

It was around $1.6k pre-COVID then jacked up to circa $2.4k ever since.

You're welcome! I have never seen it at this price before. Enjoy!

oh wow wish I can sell my Touch and get this.

    • Thought the touch was better?

      • Are you thinking of the regular Touch or The Oracle Touch?

  • +2

If it just was $1200 cheaper :)

    • I feel your pain XD

  • Our BS920 is hanging in there, had 1 small repair and will probably die when this is not on sale, 4 years and i still can't froth milk properly lol. Don't think it's the best steamer wise.

    • Oh interesting, I have an ancient Sunbeam EM6910 and I think the steamer is great.

Surprised to hear the Dual Boiler steamer isn't good as that would be my ideal machine!

Surprised to hear the Dual Boiler steamer

Breville steam is Ok (unless faulty).
        Probably it's Bobsam's skills. :))))

        • +2

          lol, yeah i reckon

      • Breville steamer is fine. You can set the steam temperature from 130 deg to 140 deg in 1deg increments. Took me about 2 weeks to learn the trick. Now I get perfect silky smooth microfoam 90% of the time.

        • I've never checked it's just factory setting whatever that is.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: yeah.. may be try reducing your steam temperature to minimum. You will get more wiggle room with this. Check this tutorial on steaming milk for latte art.

            • @carlJack: thanks, will give it a whirl :)

      • The dual boiler is a decent steamer. Its not that great as it heats milk way too quickly even if you use the lowest temperature.
Doesn't give enough time to make nice creamy foam

    • I've had my bes920 for 8 years without one service and still works perfectly but I bought it as I'm not sure how much longer the machine has to go.

      • I've had my bes920 for 8 years without one service and still works perfectly

        Lucky.
Myself and a few of my friends were all getting some issues around 2-3 year mark.

    • I have the BS920 for 6 years and have 2 fixes. First happened around 3rd year (tried to called Breville but the CS really have some attitude issue, I told them it is not a $300 machine and expect to be problem free for at least 4 years but they don't give a sxxt even mentioning Consumer guarantee), steam wand dripping water once is turned on (extreme common issue for this model). Second time happened around 5.5 years with the same issue + Pump has no pressure (only reach 4 max). Fixed and still using. I am always wonder is it better to buy this 980 model or stick with my 920 (fix dripping problem every 2 year approx). Anyone have used both machines can comment on this?? Thanks

    Just bought one. Thanks OP

  • +1

This is an all time low isn't it? Great deal!

  • +1

Looks to be a discontinued colour?
    Got one, thanks!

    • I am suspecting that too! Pretty weird to release another slightly different black and then choose not to offer the new promo to the old black :\

      • Why the more expensive Black one spec is 2400W ($2349) and the cheaper one here is only 1800W, is this the only differences other than the different black?

        • +1

Well spotted! I wonder how the reduced wattage effects the performance? I bought one anyway. They should really give it a different model number if it is functionally different.

  • Reckon you would get $700 for a A1 condition BS920 Dual boiler? Nearly 4 years old.

    • Very unlikely IMO. GGC had it for sale for about $799 about a week ago before it sold out

  • This is the lowest ever price on this machine.

  • I picked up the machine. Set it up and made coffee . Its superior to the dual boiler. Just note. The grind settings need to be much coarser than the smart grinder. Eg smart grinder was 11. I had to go 22 on oracle

    • +1

reckon adjust the grinder dial itself. see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lGFJoI77T4

      • Thanks. Theres no need as the grind is fine as it is. However your video does help for those who can get a good grind.

Appears to be out of stock?

This product has either been removed or is no longer available for sale.

For anyone trying to claim the Breville promo gift pack, I got the "commercial purchase" excuse and replied telling them that it was purchased by a person for personal use (not company). I explained that sunsuper provided a logon to TGG with special pricing and they replied accepting my claim.
