    Gimped WPA/WPA2 TKIP only WiFi "security" make these garbage at any price, look elsewhere.

    • Don't know why you were negged for this, you are entirely right - these are not safe and can be cracked in 15 minutes.

      If you want to keep your wifi safe, use AES only (something the Tenda MW3 can't do) TKIP was cracked 10 years ago.

    • For the MW6, its support WPA/WPA2 TKIP and AES, maybe you need to upgrade by yourself.

      I already upgrade my MW6, and its support AES security right now….

        If it's mixed WPA/WPA2 even with AES encryption it's insecure.
        WPA1 was cracked in 2008.

        • then you can buy ax mesh, its more secure.

            @MeatFloss: Que?
            There are plenty of other manufacturers making AC Mesh product with WPA2/AES only (not dual WPA/WPA2) security for only a few dollars more.
            Saving ~$20 to expose your home network for years to come is a poor decision IMHO.

    • According to this thread:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/567151

      AES is possible on the MW3's

        It seems the option was removed in Firmware.
        And has not reappeared in subsequent updates, per my Whirlpool link.

  • The TP-Link Deco M5 3-pack can be had for $182 at The Good Guys Commercial at the moment (if you have access to it). Shipping comes in at $8 if you're unable to click 'n' collect. I reckon that's a better buy than the Nova MW6.

  • Please don't buy this device. There are way too many tools out there to hack the device and knowing this, kids are going to use them for fun and mess around with your network. Using this device is like locking the door but keeping the key in the slot.

  • Are Chromecast secure?

  • is the MW5 ok wrt security issues? asking for a friend… ho ho
