Can vouch for this product. After endless dramas with my previous router and extender, these are amazing in my experience.

    • agreed, I bought a 3 pack for a 2 storey townhouse, only using 2, wifi is flawless

      • More of the same. Stable, no issues, easy to setup, some basic profile's / automation's for the kids devices. The only thing I would like is to create another SSID for my home automation stuff. I use the guest network for guests so don't want to use that. No big issue yet

      • Can I please ask if your house is timber or brick/concrete slab

        • Timber. I also have one of the satellite units connected via existing ethernet.

    • My TPLINK Deco M5 works half-arsed atm.
Ground-level gets good reception at 100% bandwidth.
Basement gets like 10% of the bandwidth.

Now I am contemplating to buy another 3 pack and link all 6 together?
      Has anyone done this before?

      • Can you get Ethernet installed in the basement?

      • You have to pick an ideal spot to place the Deco's its a bit hit and miss. Once you find the sweet spot, it works fine.

    • Agreed these are awesome… perfect wifi over entire 650sqm block since putting in this 3 pack. Get on it !

  • Any reviews for gigabit compatibility?

    • If you're looking for pure gigabit performance then you should target higher models, Deco M5 has 867 Mbps theoretical speeds on a 5Ghz network.

      • 867mbps on 5Ghz is fine considering the important devices will be over cat6, thanks.

        • I think I did a test or 2 when on gigabit (now 250/20), and it was 600-700 Mbps, FWIW

          • @spackbace: Was that over wifi or Ethernet?

            • @[Deactivated]: Umm possibly ethernet, but could've been wifi as well. Sorry, not very scientific lol

              • +1

@spackbace: All good, ill do some more research after work. Thanks!

  • +2

These plus Nvidia Shield Pro 4k = Flawless 4K Remux streaming over wifi

    • Thanks, was after this answer.

2 pack on Amazon ATM for $155, might go with that

  • Bought from last deal price matched at Bunnings for $197, very happy with it.

Just the unit a bit warm.

any idea on what version it is? is it V2 or V3?

    • +1

      I bought a 3 pack from TGGC a month ago and it's v3.

  • I have ethernet connections throughout the house but only 1 wifi router, which is struggling for range. Am I better off getting a second router and setting it up as an access point, or just ditching it and going mesh with ethernet backhaul?

    • Roaming with mesh is a lot better.

I moved from two access points to 3 pack mesh so much better.

      • +1

Roaming is client side, not AP side. As long as the SSIDs have the same encryption standard and aren't on overlapping channels then your clients should be able to roam across multiple access points without issues

        • Not really from my experience between two APs and Mesh. With two APs it won't switch over even signal was weak until drop but no problem with Mesh.

          • @superforever: Something wrong with your configuration then. I've setup hundreds of APs and never had an issue. Maybe you had one of your APs routed instead of on the same Subnet?

            • @stephendt: Mesh technology is not the same, try it yourself. I mean home APs not those commerical APs.

Read other comments here with their experience with Mesh vs APs.

    • Mesh with Ethernet backhaul for the win. Not all mesh routers support it. These M5 units do.
I use the similar M9 units with Ethernet over power backhaul to other end of double brick house and am happy with zoom performance and roaming. Much better than the access point setup I had which didn't roam well at all.

      • perfect thats great feedback and thanks superforever as well, ordered!

    • Just buy another AP if you have Ethernet.

      • Did you own Mesh? They are not the same from a lot of people real life experience.

        • Yes I have a Tenda mesh. It's OK but far prefer APs with Ethernet backlink. Have also setup hundreds of Wi-Fi networks over the last 10 years. Most people just don't know how to set them up properly.

          • +1

            @stephendt: I have Deco M5 with ethernet.

I did use those wifi analyzer to monitor it when I walk around my house, both andriod or PC inssider, I can see the difference between APs and Mesh.

With Mesh it will keep connected at a good speed but AP will keep connected to the same AP until the WiFi drop and connected to the other one, same SSID.

  • can someone share a purchase receipt or a picture that shows the price?

  • Good deal. I paid $180 for a 2 pack!

  • +1

Incase some one wants a 2 pack one it's on Amazon for $155 (with prime)

    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07BK96BL7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_f…

Was going to get a 3 Pack but didn't need it because of the coverage of the 2 was enough

    • +2
      • extra $10 off using the Amazon app with code APPONLY10
      • Fml. I paid $177 for 2 pack

  • these things solved my wifi strength problems in a large house, love them….

  • +1

Anyone knows how to purchase if I am not eligible to register on TGG Commercial :(

  • +1

What makes the Nest Wifi products so much more expensive than the competitors such as this?

  • This or Tenda….???

    • I don't recall there's any onboard ETH ports on the tenda, I may be wrong thou.

    • +1

Tenda doesn't support AES2 encryption. Definitely this one.

    • I dont like the looks of Tenda, these look classy and performance is good.

  • Anyone had the experience of adding additional units on top of the 3 pack?
ATM, the lower ground room has poor WIFI(10%) despite using this Deco M5 3 pack.

  • Bought in the last deal. They are great. Definitely recommended. Plugged in straight from the NBN box and ditched the old modem/router entirely. Super easy to setup. Streaming 4K Disney+ and Netflix no problems.

  • Anyone price matched in store successfully?

    • To price match in store you'll need to request a quote via email from TGCC site.

  • Do these do WPA2 AES (only)? Or do they also accept TKIP

    • Both.
Tkip + aes or aes only.

    • What device do you own that does TKIP only?

      • +1

Tenda MW6, only on the secondary node.

Primary AES only, secondary both AES and TKIP, no option to configure. Mindless.

  • I've currently got an rtac68u.

Can these easily be combined with my existing NBN router?

Or am I better off just using these entirely without the asus?

    • +1

Configure the Deco as an AP to work properly with the Asus.

If you don't use things like DDNS and VPN from the Asus you can swap it out for the Deco.

  • Excellent price. Ordered for a friend. Only stock in Perth is in Cockburn so getting it delivered.

    • +1

      Hahaha, he said…..

      Perth.

      • Cock-burn or Co-burn? I usually go with the former as it winds up the, many, people I work with who live there.

  • Will this work with a Telstra gen 2 modem and NBN box?

    • The Deco will work. Do you need the Telstra phone or 4G fail over from the Telstra modem?

  • Should I go the Deco M5 or M9 what do you reckon

    • I'm stuck in the same dilemma… the dedicated channel for mesh + built in zigbee hub… damn it's a tough call.

But I will go with M5 for now…

    • Do you need M9's performance and do you have the money?

  • What sort of performance are people getting over iperf3 with 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz?

  • Just ordered Superloop internet. Will this work ok with it?

I know things don’t last forever but will I be better off getting a Netgear or Google mesh setup?

    • Deco, Nest wifi and Orbi are compatible on Superloop NBN.

What you should get depends on the features you're after.

      • Basic things really.

Good coverage around a large, single storey house.
Decent speeds - enough to run Plex around the house to various devices.

I’m guessing this set-up will be fine.

    • +1

You could get them to work with a dial up connection if you were so inclined tbh

  • Click & Collect was available for me.

    • Same, plenty of stock in Melbourne

  • Do these function the same as a router in terms of being able to connect to a modem running in bridging mode?
My Belong modem does not let me change DNS server settings in addition to having poor WiFi coverage on 5ghz so wondering whether it's worth investing in something like this.

  • Sold! Thanks OP!

  • Can you configure these to use a different DHCP server and turn off the built-in one?

  • +1

    This or the eero mesh?

  • I'm in a rented house, very solid brick walls, no option to run ethernet cable.
Currently got powerline adaptors to get signal at front of house, but devices hang onto the weak signal from the other end of the house when going to & fro.
Would this work as a better alternative, fully wireless backhaul ?
My modem is Archer C1200 v3

    • I live in apt with solid brick walls, I wanted to keep the Deco second unit in the living room which is a bit nearer to the main unit but the second unit was not getting the full speeds, so I kept it in the other bedroom which is farther away from my main unit and I get almost full speeds with the second unit using Speedtest.

      So your mileage may vary.

      • thanks

  • Ordered. Thanks OP

  • :( TGGC deals are great but sadly I dont have easy access to these guys.

  • Wow, great price!
Sadly I just bought from Bunnings a few weeks ago.
The product is great, now I get almost the full speed of my NBN even in the corner of the house

  • Have got the netcomm nf18acv router but the coverage is not great . Should I use these to replace the router by directly connecting to the nbn box or use these as ap?

    • +1

Hook up the Deco to the NBN box.

  • Can you just plug in & they work (or do you need to use the app to setup)?

    • +1

Online reviews state they need to be setup.

      • Thanks. Can you add extra units (from a second twin-pack, for example)? Or are they a matched pair?

        • +1

Nah you need to setup with the app.

          Yeah you can add extras.

          • +1

            @Twix: Great - thanks!

  • Voltage 100240 Volts

The Amazon kit could be harder to setup!

  • just stuck awaiting GG commercial registration ("may take up to 10 days" :( )

    • Looks like its not available on TGGC now anyway, at least you will be setup for next time :)

      • thanks

  • +2

    They are back in stock!!!

    • Is it possible to send a screenshot of it and can it be pricematched in store or price beaten by Bunnings?
