Good value GPU, picked it up as a temp until the 3080s or 6800xt's become available at a reasonable price of course.

That's a great price, but 3GB VRAM is gonna be tough for newer games

Had this card in the ITX box since launch, very quiet and reliable for a single fan

3 gigs really sucks though, have to turn down quite a few settings in new stuff.

I'd personally go for this RX570 8GB for extra $20 (or slightly less after delivery charge) for the extra 5GB VRAM: https://www.umart.com.au/Sapphire-Radeon-RX-570-8G-Pulse-ITX… ($189). (RX570 performs on par or sometimes slightly better than 1060 3GB depending on the game.)

This. Pay it and get the rx 580 8gb. Just got rid of mine after 2 years and upgraded to the 5600 xt.

    • Still got both an 8gb 570 and a 3gb 1060, the latter was a pain in Red Dead Redemption 2 with so little vram for sure.

    • 570 is pretty old by now. It’s fine though.

    Or 1650 Super around $200

    old stock ?

don't think nvidia still produce 1060

      very

wow, I am using this exact card right now. How time flies. I forgot how much I paid for it. It was definitely under $300 at that time and it was just released too with strong AUD and no GST crap.

    • I remember paying $269 for my Asus 3GB Dual OC a little bit after launch. The 6GB was $330 I think, and it seemed crazy to me that there was a $60 markup (22%) for 10% better performance.

It's still a great card if you're playing older games I guess, but I am amazed how well GPUs hold their value in a tech world where things get so much better so quickly

    2060 > 1060 (don't bother with 3gig)

I have this card and am seeking an upgrade. Specs are great for the price but the VRAM limits performance significantly in most games in the last 2 years.

  • good for transcoding for a plex build?

    • If plex uses nvenc (the encoding engine built into the card) then it should be just the same on a 1050. Doesn't look like the 1030 supports it sadly.

edit: After a quick google it appears Plex does support NVENC so if you can find a 1050 for cheaper (and you're not planning to play any games or anything on the machine) that'll save you some $$$ :)

      • Good luck finding a 1050 cheaper than this. (I looked and I couldn't anyways..)

  • How would a Radeon RX 570 8GB compare for $20 more?

    • Yes, the additional 5GB of memory would also be very beneficial.

slower but more vram, depends on your needs
my 3gb 1060 still runs new games well on low settings

    • over a spread of games, on average it really isn't slower than the 1060 3GB in general, especially the newer games.

  • Just wondering what would be the used price for a similar one ? I have a PNY 1060 3GB and may be I can sell it later to upgrade to a used 2060 Super or something like that

I can see a few for sale on FB marketplace for $150. I'd think they would take an offer for $130 for a quick sale as there's a few for sale at the moment.

      • Wow! That's great, I got it for ~$140 shipped last year.

    This vs apple m1 performance?

    • +1

GPU performance is actually very similar. However you can't stick a mac mini in a PCI-E slot and it costs 8 times more so there's that.

Plus there's the overhead of Rosetta and the fact that some games don't work at all (CS:GO being one). Crossover works, but then you're talking a couple of levels of emulation.

The current 1650 super for $209 is a better deal imo. Around 20% faster overall, which roughly accounts for the price difference, and includes delivery costs, has more updated transcoding, higher efficiency and more vram which this GPU badly needs.

    • Today I loaded into my computer a 1650 super gigabyte windforce. Purchased for $189 as per ozbargain previous deal - this is the way.

  • If using as a main GPU there are obviously better options but even as a 1060 you should probably opt for the 6GB version if you can

  • +1

    Isn't GTX1650 4GB DDR6 a more future proof deal? I understand that 230-40 , just asking

  • Should be good for a small HTPC build, seems like a good price

  • Obsolete card… I remember the 6gb version was going for around 189 shortly after the 1660 first came out. This was in 2019… So what 3gb version 1.5 years later for only 20 less? Nah.

  • If you're okay to go second hand you can get these dirt cheap.

  • Deal link just goes to the BPC Tech top page; searching for the product gets no results. Am guessing this deal is expired.
