Got it from JB Hifi Woden earlier today, just showed them a screenshot of the webpage.
I'm in QLD, tried 3 different OW to PBG @ Underwood, Oxley, Loganholme all won't do it. They all said the phone it's LOCKED to Telstra. One guy even called Telstra shop directly, no luck at OW. Got it at JB Loganholme 749 showed Telstra website, the girl did not ask anything else happy to do it, in and out the shop in 5 minutes.
Both JB and OW has taken the pixel 5 off their website.

Just did a price match on this phone at JB HiFi in Leichardt. The lady I spoke to was awesome - she said only one other person had done it and it was yesterday. The deal was so good had to check with the manager, but that took all of 10 seconds once I could show them it was still a deal on the Telstra site.
If you pair it with their Telstra plan they'll give you a $400 gift card to use towards the cost of the phone, if that's your thing.

Went to my local OW only to be rejected cus the Pixel 5 with Telstra would come with their branding while OW has no branding. Oh well, headed over to JB Parramatta where the manager was more receptive but rejected at first since he thought it was an only online deal. Showed him the catalogue picture which states you can go into a Telstra store and that changed his mind.

Got the phone from my local outlet a few hours ago (ordered from warehouse and click-collect) Ive used officeworks for most of my computer and related purchases, but overall they are quite better from the telcos atleast.
With PB guarantee I am gonna stick with them for future purchases as well.
Also, saw the Telstra flyer on my insta, they are selling the phones at $750 outright, so it's not a glitch. It's an actual deal. I think Telstra marketing and communication is completely clueless with their sales and promotions

Coming from the janky S20 FE which I returned, I honestly feel like the Pixel 5 was a huge upgrade. Very happy with the phone.
They are both 6". Pixel 5 is a bit narrower.

The physical size of it is smaller but screen is same. Dropped it twice already :(
The difference is smaller than you might think since this is edge to edge while the 2xl has a bit of a forehead and stuff.

I just received a bill estimate this morning.
I opted in to the device repayment option on to an existing plan. The bill estimate shows the Pixel 5 at $999, credited back at $999, but they've added a 'Hardware Repayment Offset' of $250. So first month is the $31.20, plus a $3.12 pro-rata + $250 device repayment offset.
As it's just an estimate I'm not too worried, but was a bit of a surprise. The $250 should have been the discount amount…
I ordered outright on Friday, but other than the initial e-mail "receipt confirmation", have received no further info since - am wondering if just to cancel this and try for the Officeworks price match…

Every OW and JB in my area refused to price match as they all claimed the "locked to telstra" excuse.
I ended up getting through to telstra support( after like 2 hours), who confirmed to me that the outright purchase was NOT locked to the telstra network.
Tried all the stores again, which were all still refusing. Finally put through an order on telstra website just to try and wait for them to deliver, but have only received the invoice and no actual order number.
Concerned to say the least, the invoice says we should get order confirmation within 24 hours.
Then I see all the success stories here of people walking into JB's or OW's and getting them in 5 minutes and it makes me jealous.

Ordered outright on Friday, around 11am, nothing yet besides the automated invoice. Hopefully they are fulfilling them today, especially now the deal is over.
I had the same issue. Chased up online support and yesterday they finally gave me an order number. Never received an email confirmation though. Today, Telstra Support says that they need further proof of identification and that I need to go to a store.
To actually get my order number I had to provide them with the last 4 digits of y credit card and the date and time of my order. Although I ordered through my Telstra account the system is screwed.
Ordered Sunday afternoon, received this morning.
Delivery person also asked to see ID before handing it over.
I did log into Telstra when ordering. Not sure if that makes any difference.
Edit: besides the initial order confirmation email, I didn't receive any other correspondence.

Ring the stores near you to check if they have stock. Ask them to use their handheld stock check device to look up BRGA01316 for Black and BRGA01986 for Sage. You'll then have to go in store and do a price match.

Got the "locked to Telstra" excuse from the manager at JB Hi-Fi Hornsby. Pathetic.
Went into Officeworks Hornsby. They have never received stock yet and were not aware it had been on the website. Phoned Officeworks today, was told it went out of stock on Friday by a rude lady probably sick of the Telstra price-match requests, and that because Telstra is on backorder they can't price-match. Got my request passed up the line and they found one of each colour in the warehouse (or maybe from a store)! Got one in Sage coming in a couple days for $711.
This will be replacing a faulty Pixel 3 which is being returned to Google under warranty. Have been dealing with them since early September.

JB hifi has mysteriously put back the pixel 5 online again. Conveniently after Telstra's black friday sale.
my Pixel 5 just mysterious arrived at my doorstep (via startrack courier) like 15 mins ago!
I ordered from Telstra with outright option and I'm not a new/exisiting customer. I placed my order at 10am last Friday, only ever gotten the invoice and never received any order confirmation nor reference number. And it just showed up!

My fifth Telstra agent was somehow able to do something the others couldn't and locate the order.
I was given a StarTrack trace number showing my suburb and that they had attempted delivery this morning.
Will have to organise with StarTrack to redeliver or collect.
So to anyone else that is having trouble with Telstra or waiting, they are coming.
And they CAN find the orders somehow. I think they pulled up all the invoices for that time period and located mine, and found some sort of internal reference to the order that is different to the order numbers they email out.
Any of the agents that can't find your orders are probably just looking for standard orders which don't exist.

I placed the order with Telstra on Friday, and cancelled it same evening, was assured that it was cancelled.
Received the phone today, have rejected the delivery, hopefully will get a refund in a day or two.
I am not much hopeful, might have to dispute the charge with the bank.
Pretty much the same with me. I was eventually told yesterday that i'll have to reject the delivery so that they have it returned and I can get a refund. I can't believe they are so incompetent that they can't even cancel an order. Now I won't be able to get a refund for a week or so while I wait and hope that telstra refund the rejected delivery.
Good thing most ppl went with OW, the interaction with them was professional and pleasant throughout.
You can always count on Telstra to fk things up, only thankful for their marketing team for coming up with this price (in error)

Bought the the phone outright (cash) through my brother's account as per the suggestion from the guys at the store. He wasn't even there, they just asked for his name and phone number.
I had bad experience when price matched with JB Hifi. When pointed out Telstra was doing outright deal without any need to sign up plan, the store manager said he is running a business and cannot do a loss money transaction. He asked me to go sign up with Telstra instead.
Apparently JB Hifi only price matched depending on store manager's decision if they making money or losing money.
I had a JB lie to me on the phone saying they had no stock so couldn't price match, then when I went into the same store to double check an hour later they had plenty. The managers were just not wanting to price match.
Even after I showed them my purchase receipt from Telstra showing you didnt need to sign up and could buy outright they till refused.
PB is always a store's decision. Some stores deny it flat out or try to find fine print so they don't have to do it
Mostt of the time the stores take a huge loss, I used to work for Flight centre as Assistant manager, and have rejected them quite a few times.
PB just works on the assumption that customer will stick to the store for future purchases coz of goodwill, but doesn't always work though.

I was able to see the StarTrack tracking number in MyPost account on auspost.com.au. No email notifications from AusPost but apparently it was there, shipped from NSW on Monday.
Turns out the MyPost account is good for something. it must automatically match any AusPost/StarTrack booking that corresponds to my name and address.
