same price at Coles and Harvey Norman too

    • +3

? Isn't it google play stores at Coles?

  • +10

19.5% off with Officeworks price beat.

apple also announced that they've reduced their App Store fees for small businesses/developers from 30% down to 15% starting next year. might be worth noting these gift card sales will become rare and possibly an Everything Apple gift card would be introduced globally?

    • +5

there’s an article out there that claims these small developers only account for ~6% of total App Store revenue. So it’s a small hit on the bottom line for a boost in PR.

    • +1

Has anyone actually got 19.5% off to actually work or is it just theoretical?

      • +2

Yes I bought a few cards with price beat at OW it’s 18.5% not 19.5%

        • +4

I got $19.25 discount. Looks like every store is doing it differently. :-)

          • @jainp: Same - it's 19.25% - $100 is $85 less 5% so $80.75 19.25% discount

        • 19.25%

          • @modsec802: Yeah you’re correct, my brain failed me. lol

        • Officeworks told me they would only match the price and didnt give me 5%price beat!

        • Dup

I've done it several times without an issue as long as you are prepared with proof/brochure (early on they aren't aware it's on, later in the week they won't need it). Always needs manager approval.

    • +2

      Thanks, got some from officeworks.

      • What did you use to present as proof? I can't find the link anymore ;(

        • +2

OP's Big W link goes directly to the catalogue page, click into the first catalogue and search for "iTunes". The prices of the cards should come up. (Better to let the staff know as well, it took them a while to find it)

        • Thanks all! Managed to pick up one in Chatswood, NSW.

Staff there was cool with it and found it themselves.

        • Lucky me may be other ozbargainer went in before me so manager and employees were primed for it ;-). Just mentioned BigW and they said yeah we know. Thanks ozbargain.:-)

    • Thanks for mentioning the price beat!
I was running low on iTunes credit that I use for Netflix and Apple Music, so I stocked up on one hundred dollar gift cards for $80.75 each (:

  • Never used an apple gift card…
Can these be used for subscription services like apple music etc?
If so can it be set up to auto debit off of the gift card?

    • +1

Yes and yes. Third party app however will depends, e.g Netflix no longer used Apple / Google wallet balance I believe

      • Just to piggy back off OP, can these gift cards also be used to pay for iCloud storage services? I’m currently paying in the order of ~$4.50 per month for 200gb storage.

        TIA

        • +3

          Yes

        • Yep that's exactly what I do

Rata Tan tan Tatata tan tanananaaa tan

  • Guessing it can be stacked with 5% off gift cards (like Wish) from reward programs?

    • +1

Normally you can’t buy gift cards using gift cards.

    • From what I have heard on this site, Woolworths (and by extension, Big W) have patched their POS systems to not allow gift cards to be purchased with gift cards.

You may have luck at Coles though, since their POS system may allow you to buy 3rd party gift cards (i.e. non-Coles-branded gift cards) with gift cards.

Good to know I get 15% off my tax payment via iTunes gift cards. Praise the lord.

  • -3

I will have to call back my it support guy. Every time I called they were always wanting me to buy gift cards and send them the codes to fix my windows errors instead of a bank transfer. They must not have shops where they live to buy gift cards.

  • +3

Costco has the $50 iTunes card for 41.99 right now.

    • Officeworks does price match on Big W $40.37

  • About half a year ago I read that iTunes cards can be used to purchase Apple products in Apple stores, I wonder if it'a s specific type.

    EDIT:

    Here:

    https://www.theverge.com/2020/7/31/21349447/apple-universal-…

    Specifically this quote:

"The Apple Store card and the App Store and iTunes card will continue to be valid as forms of payment, but the latter can now be used to purchase items from the Apple Store in addition to its previous functions, according to the gift card’s webpage. However, Apple appears to have removed the option to buy the older cards from its website."

    • That applies to the US. I hope that doesn't happen in Australia because they're less likely to get discounted.

  • Thanks OP. I’ve been waiting all year for 20% off iTunes from Coles to renew Disney+ subscription…as it’s due next week I’ll jump on this. Now I need to work out how to renew it….do I just load iTunes up and Disney takes care of the rest? Not normally an iTunes user

    • +1

That's it. You redeem the iTunes card in the App Store (there are other places you can do this too). Select your account and "Redeem Gift Card or Code". Once complete it's a credit on your account and all Apple services (App Store, iTunes Store, iCloud storage, Apple Music, In App Purchases, etc) will default to using credit on your account. Once the credit is gone it will once again use your credit card.
When purchasing things manually it will say you are using store credit and the invoices they email will say the same thing.

      • Thanks Brad for confirming. I normally use Android however as I have an iPhone as a loan phone for the next couple of days I’ll load it up today and let it select as default

      • Does this work with the Apple Store app? ie being able to purchase say a new apple watch or ear phones? My partner wants a apple watch, so though it be a good way to get 15% off .

        • No, it doesn't, it's only for Apple services, not physical goods.

  • Hm.. the link no longer works. Does anyone have a link to the actual product?

  • What happened to the link? not working. Has the deal finished already?
    Edit:
Found it. Page 41 of one of the catalogues.

    • +1

Yep - iCloud storage, apps, Apple Music, iTunes rentals
