I picked up the same machine, but with a 512gb NVMe for $985 after the LOVEKEANU code a week ago. Could have got an even better deal when the $100 bonus cashback offer came up.

    • Also 10th gen i7 and this is 11th gen.

I went with LOVEKEANU instead of cashback because it takes forever and can be unreliable at times so I'm ok with losing a potential $30-40 or whatever

  • Nice price! Just check the ad again. From what I can see it has Wi-Fi 6 2x2 which is 802.11ax

    • oppss..thanks for the note.
I modified it to what I saw on the promo page.

  • is eligible for CR cashback if we use the code? Code not listed on CR

    • +1

You won't get cashback with the code

What's the display like? IPS? brightness?

  • Any deals on same spec but 13” ?

    • +2

I would go the same for 13" @ 1TB, 16GB RAM if it is below $1,200.00 - that would really be something.

  • Can you upgrade the ram on this laptop ?

  • +1

Looks like this has no network/rj45 port. Would also like to know what screen quality/brightness is like.

  • Also wondering NITS and screen type

  • Is the ryzen 5 4600u faster than this processor? Ryzen 7 4800u would therefore be a lot faster. Is there any downside to the Ryzen processors besides the lack of thunderbolt??

    • The 4600U and 4800U have better multi threaded performance than this processor. You are comparing a 4 core 11th gen Intel processor to a 6 core and 8 core AMD processors.

    • 1165g7 has the best single core perf but will lose in multithreaded workloads to the 4600u and up. GPU on the 1165 should be better than the 4600 but it's very inconsistent being that it's a new graphics architecture.

  • Can't make up my mind between this model (5502) or the cheaper one (5505) here:
    https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-laptops/inspiron-15-500…

    Main differences below…

5502 (posted in this OzB post):
    - Intel i7-1165G7
    - Intel Iris Xe shared graphics memory
    - 16GB, 8Gx2, DDR4, 2666MHz
    - 1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive
    - 4-Cell Battery, 53WHr (Integrated)
    - $1,189.47 (after LOVEKEANU coupon)

    5505:
    - AMD Ryzen™ 5 4500U (apparently better than Intel i7-1165G7 ?!)
    - AMD Radeon shared graphics memory
    - 8GB, 1x8GB, DDR4, 3200MHz (wouldn't topping up another 8GB yourself be cheaper?)
    - 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive
    - 3-Cell Battery, 40WHr (Integrated)
    - $905.83 (after LOVEKEANU coupon)

  • Does anybody know how well the Intel i7-1165G7 and its Iris Xe shared graphics memory hold up while playing games? Say, basic games like CS:GO with high graphics settings?

    • +1

      https://au.pcmag.com/sound-cards/68387/intels-iris-xe-graphi…
You can check this site mate. You can play game like CS:GO, DOTA 2 in medium graphics at above 100+ fps.

    • +1

Should be okay but do note that the Xe integrated graphics work best with 4266 MHz memory, so the 2666 MHz sticks this post has will likely limit its’ performance

    • The issue with Xe graphics is driver support. Unfortunately they sent sample laptops for review which did not transfer well to ones that you and I can buy. Please refer to the UFD tech review of the Dell Xps which stutters in Fortnite at 720p around the minute 5:50 mark.

Can anyone comment on the battery life?

  • Whats ya opinion between this one with G15 5590 refurb
    https://www.dell.com/en-au/outlet/refurbished-g5-15-5590-lap…

The difference is only 50 bucks, which one is better ?

    • gaming laptop uses more battery

      • I know, what i mean is the difference price between inspiron 15 5000 and g 15 5590 refurb only 50 bucks, what's a better between 2 them ?.

        • depends on your use case.

if you want gaming then go for gaming laptop (300 nits, 144hz, dedicated 6gb gpu)

if you want to use it for daily work mainly, then go for inspiron 15 5000

          • @yummycoot: Okay, thanks, and if i want to upgrade the ram,can i just buy 8 gb ram 2x or 1 8 gb and 1 16 gb ram and put inside to changes the 4*2 ram ? Which one is better ? Thanks.

    Same 11th Gen i7, 8G RAM, 512G SSD, $353 Cheaper
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/584136

    • Is the Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics with shared graphics memory better or worse than the NVIDIA® GeForce® MX330 with 2GB GDDR5 graphics memory in the cheaper laptop?

      • From articles I read these two are pretty close, just make sure you have dual ram(try to get the fastest one) on i7 system.

        • Do you mean for the the Iris system? The NVIDIA system has its own memory, no?

        • Most articles that place it close to the MX330 are from the sample Intel sent around which was not thermally constrained. Unfortunately Intel wouldn't let the battery be tested. Actual reviews of thermally constrained laptops at 15w TDP, to get decent battery life, which you and I can buy get no where near MX330 performance.

    • yeah but that's 15 3000 model, this is 15 5000 model.

15 5000 model has wifi 6, usb c with power delivery and display port support unlike 15 3000 which offers usb c only on nvidia models and can be used for data transfer only. 15 3000 also has lower RAM and SSD. For NVME, the bigger the storage, the better the performance.

      • Not everyone think these're worth extra $353, at this level really the different is more abour graphic, you could get a refurb 1650 or even 1650ti, much better.

      • Wait I bought the 15 3000 with the intention of using the usb-c to connect to a hdmi adapter for dual monitors. Am I wrong?

        • Did it say it comes with usb c regardless of it having discrete (nvidia) gpu or not?

Seems unlikely it will support hdmi through USB c if it doesn't have thunderbolt/PD/DisplayPort mentioned

          https://www.howtogeek.com/661325/should-you-use-hdmi-display…

          • +1

@yummycoot: I asked chat rep and they said no issues displaying dual monitors using a hdmi usb c adapter. Hopefully they're right

    Just confirming,

With LOVEKEANU code, price: $1,189 (Discount of $90)
    No CR/SB

Without code, price: 1,279 ($127.90 discount with CR)
Final price: $1,151.10 (95 days waiting for cashback)

    • +1

Incorrect. More like $1163 after cashrewards rebate.

CR does not pay out on GST (and some other things), so that has to be deducted from the price. The CR rebate will be calculated on $1,162.72, not $1279.

  • Can this handle some gaming or better go with one that comes with a dedicated graphics card?

For eg. iracing, assetto corsa etc

    • +1

Dedicated graphics card. You would have to run iracing on minimum settings, prob still lag.

I wouldn't recommend for gaming but as a general work/study laptop it is great value.

I would prefer an XPS just because in my experience the premium lines last longer - better build quality.

  • I wonder whether there is a version of 32G memory instead?

  • Windows 10 Home (S mode) 64-bit, English

It's NOT 'S mode', it should be plain Windows 10 Home (64 bit) English

  • How is the build quality? Is it a metal body?

  • +1

I found it is a bit cheaper if you want win 10pro to goto to the business side it is $1,245.27 instead of $1,282.48 with the LOVEKEANU code

  • How would 220 nits be in doors? with non glaring sunlight?

  • Anyone pay by paypal and have the payment processing for a long time?

  • Deal ended. Damn, too slow :(

    • +3

  • +1
