Bright green with a smooth texture and tangy flavour that ignites the senses. No condiment is as instantly recognisable and distinctively Japanese as wasabi. Goes well with rice dishes, steaks, and even incorporated into ice cream, you can count on wasabi to give your dishes a little ‘punch’.

The Wasabi sample better not be one of those 2.5g sachet packets which you get free with your takeaway sushi box and cost 30c if you want an extra one

43gm S&B $3.00 at Woolies Vs $0.00 giving out personal information?? No thanks

    • +6

Don't sign up, it's that simple.

Probably shouldn't be using the internet if you're paranoid about personal information.

      • I lodged a fair comment. Perhaps lockdown has fried your brain

        • The first part, probably should've stopped at Woolies.

There's no point, pointing out the obvious. Any form asking for your details is storing your information in the majority of cases.

It's the internet.. I'm not the only one that agrees either, sorry :(

@athk: @athk my post was to agree, back up, the first respondent into what size of sample?. I was affronted by your neg and comment. I shall retract that comment I made of what lockdown may have caused upon you. Congratulations on being free after lockdown and I shall quote from a very famous Australian ' Whats on in Woolongong?' (Norman Gunston) cheers

rookie mistake to put in real information for free stuff :)

      • The real pro trick is to put a fake address too :P

Actual ground wasabi root or just horseradish with green colour and some mustard oil?

  • Which wasabi brand do you recommend that is better than S&B that is not too expensive?

    • +4

I always just pickup extra few free wasabi satchels from Sushi Hub.

    • S&B has a "premium" option which is found in asian grocers, IMO better wasabi as it has more wasabi but its up to your taste.

  • +8

There are two versions of S&B wasabi paste: The supermarket version that contains just 4% wasabi, and S&B's premium version that's 30% wasabi and contains no horseradish.

The latter version is quite a lot better and doesn't need artificial colours. Buy it from Asian groceries.

Holy crap, you have blown my mind.

I have bought tubes of S&B for years and could never tell why I seemed to get a different experience alot of the time.

I would buy it often from asian grocers…. but A lot of the time from the supermarket.

I always just wrote this down to imported vs "local"

      Thank you!

    • I didn't know they had a premium version with higher wasabi content…. I thought most were the horseradish versions…..

Goes really well with smashed avo on toast, at about 50:50 ratio.

Just make sure someone else eats it.

    • As a millennial I'd take up that offer of free smashed avo on toast, besides I trained myself to eat this type of "wasabi" so It would probably taste great to me!
