ANZ Rewards Platinum Credit Card - 100,000 Reward Pts with $1,500 Spend in 3 Months, $95 Fee ($50 Cashback 1st Year)

2570

Nice little churner for those between Qantas cards.

Note that the ANZ Qantas Frequent Flyer cards are on a different reward system and therefore it doesn't matter if you have held one of those cards in the last 12 months. Just have to make sure that you haven't held an ANZ Rewards card in the last 12 months. It used to be the case that the ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures card was treated separately as well, but I note that this is now specifically included in the 12 months exclusion clause as well.

$50 back makes the annual fee of $95 effectively only $45 in the first year.

Spend requirement is only $1,500 in first 3 months, which is lower than it usually is for this card.

100k ANZ Reward points can be converted to 50k velocity points or 33.3k Krisflyer points.

22.2k ANZ Reward points can also be converted to $100 Coles or WISH eGift Cards, which makes this bonus worth around $450 total. You can also use the 100k ANZ Rewards points for straight cashback of $400.

        • darn. and but them sending a letter to explain the decision is unheard off.. do banks need to explain why?

          • @ruztynail: never in my experience, curious to see what it has in there lol

  • Finally got approved today. Hate to deal with ANZ credit cards, not so impressive with their processes even though all my incomes come into ANZ account over the last 20 years. They once rejected me on the ANZ black card listed early this year, ridiculous.

  • I got denied too, not sure why.

    • to those that got rejected. did you have to call the bank? or did you receive an email?

      • no email, but they said they'd send me something via snail mail within the week. no idea why

        • they called you to inform about a snail mail?

          • @ruztynail: no the website said they'll mail me something

  • +2

six figure salary, own a house and $170K in the bank - rejected….Go figure

    • +2

They probably know they won't make much cash from you

    • what's your current credit limits?

    • to those that got rejected. did you have to call the bank? or did you receive an email?

      • Received an Email immediately after applying.

  • +2

I do find ANZ is one of the worst banks to deal with in credit card applications - bizzare reasons for rejection and very opaque process. (I have a FF Black Card).

    • i called ANZ yst to check on my application status, the lady said she has no idea because apparently their credit card approval team is based in india and they are not linked! Because of covid and the influx of applications she recommend me emailing them instead… or she can get them to call me..

like what?!! one of the big 4 and they have no oversight of the status of people's applications here in OZ?! geezzzz.. defeats the purpose of have a number to call for cc applications.

      • Doesn't surprise me. I can't see myself staying with them long term for my banking

      • Hahaha. Right. ANZ sms me to contact them re the credit card application and I rang their number but told that they cannot connect me to their credit card team. I had to email them to ask to ring me instead.

        • Same, sent me SMS saying same thing. Called the number and it goes "due to COVID, we are answering via email only". So put in an email telling them to call me… jumping through hoops indeed.

  • approved for 6000. existing 15 000 citi card and 325 000 in a mortgage
    hm….lucky

    • It is all about serviceability. Mortgage amount means nothing without mentioning income. $325k mortgage might be a problem on $40k per year, but not a problem on $120k.

  • Has anyone here received their card yet? I got approved on the 4rth but haven't received it yet. Ta.

    • Also applied on the 4th, received all the T&C in the mail last Friday, no card arrived yet.

  • I applied on 4th, haven't heard anything since then…is anyone like me here?

    • I applied on the 3rd, they called me on the 4th and asked me to send payslips even though I get my salary paid into my ANZ account. Not heard anything since although seeing some of the people's comments above getting rejected I don't hold much hope of getting approved.

  • rejected.. just because my payslip has this "salary sacrifice" which makes my net lower.. but that salary sacrifice goes straight into my bank acc at a higher amount cause of tax purposes.. idiots shouldnt be behind this application processes if they cant read the payslip properly!

    • They struggle with that one sadly, got approved a while ago eventually but they couldn’t grasp this concept at all at the call centre

  • And I checked with them for the other ongoing offer of a $500 gift card. They said that I can't take up that offer since my card has been approved already, and on checking my file, they mentioned that there is no annual fee anyways for the first year (while applying it said $95 for the first year with $50 back after the $1500 spending). Is it the same with peeps who were approved?

  • My welcome kits mail arrived but without actual creditcard in it. There are thick brochures in the envelope. Is it same to you who got the mail?

    • YES

    • Yes. The card will follow soon. Confirmed with ANZ.

      • Received the card today in Sydney.

  • +1

Finally got approved. Involved multiple phone called to confirm financials.
Applied for +20 credit cards over the years for point offers and never experienced anything like this, dont think I have ever spome to anyone before - all online. Usually have the approval in a day and the card in my hands under a week. I applied for this over 2 weeks ago!!! They have really made me work for my free $450…

    • cant be worse than st george

    • likewise here… it was a frustrating process!

  • My application just got approved today. Person at ANZ actually called me again a couple of hours later asking for payslips, but I told him it was already approved and he realised he called the wrong person.
I also asked whether the approved application was for the $0 annual fee first year and $500 gift card (which it is not unfortuantely), and he confirmed "yes" twice. It really does not instil any confidence I have in ANZ.

  • Finally my card approved today. Applied on 4th December. Multiple calls on same topic ' Who pays your salary and how much'.

    • Can you share on the number that you called?

      • +1

They called me. They are not accepting any calls to credit card department.

        • +1

Thanks, I have emailed them twice to call back but no progress. I got the same message when I tried to contact that department.

  • Can I use Zip pay and paypal to meet the minimum spend?

    • +1
      • 1 interested with this also. I've paid off $1.5k worth of zip balance using the ANZ card. Waiting to check if the rewards points are showing
      • Would be interested to hear if you met the minimum spend!

  • I got a call 24h after applying requesting pay slips, I had already uploaded them to the portal but they couldn’t see them which is a concern. I then emailed them through via the address provided and got approval 24h later.

  • +2

Got charged with annual fee plus rewards program fee ($95). Slow approval process, but super quick charging process.

  • whats with the electronic verification process? i got approved but got a sms for id check. this process is taking forever.

  • +2

Applied 6th of Dec, approved 29th Dec.

Had to resend a payslip, then constantly had missed calls from ANZ every second day. Then randomly received the approval email.

I rate the application process 1 banana out of 10 mangoes.

  • +1

Applied Sunday night, uploaded docs immediately, approval received 5:30pm Monday, less than 24 hours later. No phone calls or other requests for info. This is the 7th bank I've had a credit card through in the last 12 months, easiest application by far. Card expected to arrive in 3 to 5 days, will update if it doesn't.

    • No, Amex even easier yesterday, didn’t even upload docs.

      • +1

I hadn't included Amex in the bank ones. My wife needed to upload doc's with them, I didn't so 50/50 hit rate with them.

        • +1

Citibank is arguably the best, I forgot to upload payslips then bank proceeds to call me and give me more bonus points for uploading them.

  • Anyone here who has met the $1500 spending criteria, and received 100000 points?

  • I submitted the form on 4th jan and got approved today (7th jan). They just called for more payslips and that was it.

  • This card used to have no overseas transaction fee. Doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

Or was that just the Velocity one?

    • That was the ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures card, which still has no overseas fees. I'm not sure if this card will exclude you from sign-up bonuses on that card but it probably will.

      • Ah - that's the one. Thanks. Wonder if that deal with the flight and bonus points will come back now that Virgin are getting their house in order. Agree it will one or the other.

More interest in velocity points since they announced that Air Canada tie up. Gives me confidence. Very few deals atm though

  • Anyone got the bonus points + cashback already? already met the spending requirement

    • You should get it on your next statement.

    • +1

I have received 2 statements and still not received it.

Met the criteria in first statement itself.

Anyone in same boat ⛵ ?

  • how you check and redeem the bonus points if you don't have ANZ account / online banking? I am not ANZ customer but just
    applied for this credit card

  • Anyone know if bpay is charged as a cash advance?

    • No, and you also get rewards points.

      • Awesome thanks a lot!

  • Signed up on 3rd Dec, met the spend on 4th Jan. Got statement yesterday, no bonus points. Also got charged total of $95 in fees.

    • Same here, will wait until next statement and call them if still nothing

  • Anybody got their bonus points yet? I have just hit 2nd statement and I have done the minimum spend but no points yet.

  • Anyway you can pay your monthly mortgage payments with a CC without it being a cash advance?

  • +3

The 100,000 bonus Reward Points and credit will be credited to your ANZ account and the $50 will be credited to your credit card account within 3 months of the eligible spend criteria being met.

    Patience

  • The offer that was posted after this where people get $500 net bonus instead of this bonus ($400 net bonus) has already been paid out. I guess they invested more in the new systems to give out gift cards than the old system to give out points.

  • +2

I've received the $50 credit after my 2nd statement. Haven't got the points yet but looks promising.

  • Hey, when/how does the $50 cash back happen? Only when do minimum spend?

  • Also got the $50 after 1st statement. Still waiting for points

  • Also got $50 credit but no bonus points yet. Will see if it's in statement.

  • +1

Also haven't got my bonus points or email to claim gift card.

My wife applied for the later deal with annual fee waived and already received her gift card a month ago.

  • Also got the $50 but no points.

This is very slow compared to the other deal which was both a higher reward and quicker to get.

  • Check your points balance now. Received my points today, 2-3 days after the $50 cash back. $450 worth of Coles gift cards received. ;) Time to cancel the account.

    • Yep, also just got bonus points, just after the $50 back.

I closed my ANZ Travel Adventures card in Nov 2020 so technically I should have been exempt from this, but I ran the gauntlet and it paid off.

Perfect timing for bonus points too. I suggest most should convert to Coles egift cards and use to buy the 10% off Coles mastecards.

      • What do you mean by 10% off coles mastercards

    • Thanks for the update, just checked mine and the points came through as well.

  • +1

Got my points !!!! Congrats all. :D

  • $50 + 100K. Happy Valentine’s everyone 😘

  • +1

Ahh very nice! Just redeemed for $450 woolies gift cards.
I’ve got 3k rewards points leftover… dang it not enough for any

  • +2

I used my $450 Coles egift card to buy $450 worth of Coles prepaid mastercards plus $30 left over for groceries. Not bad.

  • +2

this is actually very good deal, profit $405 after annual fee if you convert coles giftcard

    • +1

Well, I would agree because I posted it. Pretty good deal, but nowhere near as good as the old 100k Qantas points deals that could be sold for $1200, and $0 annual fee.

  • +1

Just checked on ANZ Rewards and have got my Bonus points. Looks like it's dated 08/02/21 "NEW CREDIT CARD BONUS POINTS"

    Enjoy!!

    • after how many months after you met the spending requirement?

      • Got mine too. First transaction 27/1/21.
Hit the $1500 spend requirement within the first month obviously. Used it to clear some transactions for ZIP Pay.
Bonus 100k pts came in 8/2/21.
$50 credit came in on 10 Feb too.

        • thats fast. first transaction 27/1 and get bonus 8/2 is like 12 days ?

          • @CyberMurning: Yep. Super surprised.
I got approved early Jan, and only got the card 2 weeks after.

  • Appears that many of these transactions came in around 8-10 Feb if you met your spending requirement in Jan

  • hit my spend on my 3rd statement… guess I can't expect points till the my 4th. how's everyone's points coming in?

  • yep, card arrived end of Dec, met the spend early Jan, points arrived early Feb and was closed straight away. Moved on to St George.

Also just refinanced my home loan.
