Oh damn this would've been more useful than the 30 day one for people like myself who want to become a new 'new' customer.

    • +5

I generally use this plan for porting my main number and the other 40GB plan for data. Don't have an NBN/broadband connection and the Kogan 40GB plan has been my buddy throughout the lockdown period…

      • Sounds like a good plan. How are the speeds? Do you just use your phone to hotspot or use the sim in a modem?

        • +1

I can only speak for my area (SE melb), it will be different depending on where you are.

I get speed tests of around 80Mbps. It's fast. Telstra in my area is poor. It used to be good, now I get 1 bar, and speeds of around 5 Mbps.

          • @lostn: Great. Thanks. So much better than my crappy ADSL. Any recommendations for a modem?

            • @squeeb: i've no idea.. I just use my phone or tablet as a hotspot when needed.

Those 4G modems never have long battery life and get hot.

      • Which one is the 40GB? Could you post the link pls

  • Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEDT on 28/02/2022

I wonder if the year is a typo? Was it meant to be 2021?

@OP can you please update the expiry date based on what is indicated on the page?

Offer ends 5 December 2020 at 11:59PM (AEDT) unless extended.

    • +1

The unique Kogan Mobile voucher included as part of this product cannot be redeemed for cash. Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEDT on 28/02/2022. Activation or recharge must be made before the voucher expiry date. Voucher does not apply to subsequent recharges. Voucher cannot be used in conjunction with any other vouchers or promotional offers. For information about how to use Kogan Mobile vouchers, click here.

    • I'm assuming "offer ends" means the date you stop seeing this for $14.90 and it's back to $99.90…

      • -1

I know what "offer ends" means, however your deal original had an expiry date of "Unknown", so looks like you've fixed the expiry date for this deal, which is what I was asking you to do in my earlier comment.

    • +2

I just got emailed the voucher it is indeed 2022

  • if you have this from the last deal, can you port out for say a day and then sign up again with this deal? or is that not possible?

    • +8

You need to be 30 days away from Kogan mobile to be considered as a new customer.

      • ah ok, thanks for the info

      • I didn't know this before I tried to activate last time and called their customer service. The agent was kind enough to do it as a one-off favour to switch back to Kogan under 30 days. so YMMV.

      • Is this written somewhere in the terms and conditions? I can't find anything on their website. Kogan refused to activate my Sim as I was not considered a "new" customer because I was with Kogan previously. But the rep didn't mention anything about the 30 days period

    • you can port back in, but won't be able to use the voucher because it won't treat you as a new customer, and the voucher is only for new customers.

  • +1

I have seen that kogan might need you to be out of kogan for atleast 30 days to qualify for such offers.

  • +2

Using this for my Alfred security cam. Signing up was a pain.

    • What's the max resolution supported?

      • In premium Alfred always maximizes viewing and recording based on your device's hardware limitations and connection status.

  • I miss the days these used to go for like $4.90 (or less) with cashback offers..
Unfortunately, amaysim Groupon isn't a thing anymore and Catch has redone all its plans while Kogan has withdrawn cashback.
So I guess this is the next best thing aha

    • Is Catch Connect no longer doing their version of this deal?

      • +1

Catch connect has changed their offerings completely a while ago. Now the best value is arguably their $89/$99 365 day plan.

    • +1

The new Sim-slutting meta is to go from this Kogan to Belong when they do half price and stack it with referrals, and then back to Kogan.

Extra points if you get your family member/friend to do the same thing but on the opposite cycle, so that way you can keep sending each other any leftover belong data before you port out, effectively creating your own data bank.

      • Belong starter packs are valid for 12 months from the purchase date too so you can buy a couple when on special & be sorted for a year basically.
Although they do go on special every 2nd week anyway haha.

      • Which one is the belong deal? How much and how many GB?

  • +6

Keep in mind that the voucher is only valid for new customers porting over their number to Kogan. You can't use the voucher to activate a new service (new number).

    • +1

Yep, was about to comment saying otherwise and read the fine print. No biggy for sim hoppers who burn heaps of sims regularly anyway.

      • activate a free telstra sim first.

  • Darn it, I wish I saw this earlier as I already bought the 30 day one… but still didn't stop me buying another one - with expiry 2022 I'll get use out of it!

  • +1

New customers only? as in literally a brand new Kogan account?
I'm on the app and its still showing as 14.90

    • At checkout the price will display $13.90

      • +1

mine check out says 14.90. I tried from laptop. Not sure if I have to buy thru app??

        • +1

          Try using app.

  • BTW the same one used to be $9.90 when on sale. What a shame, Kogan actually jacked up the price by $5.

    • +2

When compared to other plans it's still a great deal. This equates to $4.63 per month.

  • Thanks OP, ordered one. My current Telsta 365 prepaid ends in two days. The email says the sim will be delivered in 3-7 business days. Should I get a Kogan sim from 7-eleven and activate it before my current Telstra sim expires?

    • Check with Telstra if your number will remain active after the prepaid plan ends.

  • Hmm. Long Expiry. Might be a good idea to buy several.

    • These aren't recharges so you need to port out for 30 days minimum.

  • So if the expiry is 2022, I can technically buy more than 1, use 1st one for 3 months, hop onto another provider for 30 days, jump onto the next kogan sim again after the 30 day wait. Any dramas with this ?

    • +2

This offer comes up all the time, there’s really no need to buy more than one

      • +1, and this is not even the best price…it was $9.90 back in Oct this year.

        • True it was cheaper at that time. But the downside is that voucher didn't last 15 months like this one. Am I right?

          • @Lone star: Hmmm you are right that is a very good point…especially when you don't need it right away but want to secure a good deal ahead

      • Sure, but if you did by 3 Sims, would you still be able to use all 3 of them if you switched between carriers for 30 days before using the next Kogan SIM?

        • Most providers now have 28 days prepaid SIM plans

          • +1

@Lone star: Belong $40 starter pack on special for $20 will last 3 months or 4 months with the use of a referral code.

            • @Arthur Dunger: As from next year my son starts high school so I'll need a mobile for him too. That means from next year I'll manage 5 accounts (my parents in law, my missus, my son and myself). I believe it wont be easy to find that many referrals. I'll be eyeing for 35 days plans like this one

              https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/521547

              • @Lone star: Belong referral codes can be found in the OzBargain Belong pool. However once you've set up one Belong account in the family then obviously you would use that code to set up any others.

                • @Arthur Dunger: Hmm.. so in other words. In a year I could connect 3 months with Kogan, port to Belong for 3 months, then come back to Kogan and at 3 last months port to Belong?

    • whom are you thinking hop for one month ? any good deals ?

      • +2

Optus 28 Day sims are only $5 at the moment on their website.

I have 5 30 Day Kogan sims and 5 28 Day Optus sims.

        • +1

          good stuff mate

        • Shopback has 8.4% cashback for prepaid starter kits :)

        • that's pretty nifty. I don't stock up on Kogan sims because they tend to have short use-by dates.

  • Time to support esim

  • +2

have not read one single comment but just bouncing in cold to vouch for Kogan as a decent 4G service provider. AOK. Good phone support etc. Trustworthy.

    • yes, operated by vodafone.

  • So if I already have a Kogan sim which is about to expire, can I buy one of these sim cards even though I don't want to keep the number? Or do I have to port over from another telco?

    • +1

port over to another telco and then back to kogan.

  • What's the cheapest other provider we can use, ie port to Aldi mobile then port back to Kogan?

  • How does Kogan compare to Lebara? Both are Vodafone right?

  • What network are they on? I got a dead virgin mobile that boots up on optus network. Would this deal work with such device?
I do want to keep the number too.

    • Vodafone

  • Amaysim has $5 for 28 days

Is it possible to port out after 30 days without any credit?

It’s for a secondary number and happy not to be able to make calls for 2 or so days

    • Or you could get a $25 Belong starter pack for $10 which will last 3 months using a referral code and moving to the $10 plan for the 2nd & 3rd month.

      • Thanks

Might have to venture out of my comfort zone and do that

  • Damn. Bought two of this a day ago paid $14.90 twice. Now this😔.

Vochers issued already but not used as waiting for current plan to be expired soon. Can anything be possible ?

  • Great - im going to port out of telstra, use this for a month or so and then jump back on when they have a decent JB gift card deal

  • Does anyone know whether it requires "port in" ?
I bought one last June, then ran into difficulty with the voucher as it asked to be "port in" as condition. Tricky.

  • Thanks! this is in time as my free 200GB plan with amaysim comes to an end.

    • How you got it for free?

      • It was offered for Amaysim electricity customer earlier this year. But they have sold it to AGL recently and the freebie will end in Feb

  • Would Kogan price match or extend my voucher's expiration?

    • No. Kogan doesn't price match.

  • This $13.90 60GB for 90 days, is a "port over" offer

  • Just a reminder for others. Initially I tried to open Kogan Mobile App, did not get the discount. You have to open Kogan App to get the discount. They are different.

    • I got the email, but 9 days later still have not got the sim card. Which number I should contact?

      • I only got the simcard delivered an hour or so ago

  • wasnt it last time 40GB each month for 3 months?

  • Do they mail you out the simcard?
