Here are 2 good options for getting the most out of this starter pack. Before you activate make sure you get a referral code from a friend already with Belong or the OzBargain Belong pool for an additional $20 credit.

Option 1 (4 Months 23GB) - Activate on the $25 10GB per month plan. When the 1st billing date comes you'll get another 10GB. Then switch to the $10 1GB per month plan for the 2nd & remaining months. The first 4 months cost is covered ($40 starter pack credit plus $20 referral credit) $5.00 will be left over for the 5th month.

Option 2 (3 Months 82GB) - Activate on the $40 40GB per month plan. When the 1st billing date comes you'll get another 40GB. Then switch to the $10 1GB per month plan for the 2nd & remaining months. The first 3 months cost is covered ($40 starter pack credit plus $20 referral credit) and data rolls over every month or can be gifted.

Billing Dates (4th, 12th, 20th & 28th)
Plans are billed on the same date monthly. The time between activation and the next billing date is free.
One month worth of data is credited on activation, and another on your first payment date, 1-8 days later. So you effectively get double data for the first monthly payment at no extra cost. You can then change to a lower rate plan ($10/month) and use the banked data allowance.

I thought you offered a $10 smaller 1G plan?
We did, but as of 23 July Belongs $10 plan will no longer be available for new sign-ups. Once you've signed up, you'll be able to change over to the $10 plan at the start of your next billing month.

You can cancel your service by notifying us. We’ll cancel your service within 24 hours. It may take up to 24 hours to process your request, so you’ll need to let us know at least 24 hours before the start of the next monthly bill cycle.

  • Just checking I understand this. Billing dates are only 4 dates per month, so if I activated on 5 Dec, my plan wouldn't technically start until 12 Dec but I would get between 5-12 Dec free.
    Using the $40 starter pack as the example, if activating on 5 Dec, I would start with the 40GB of data. When would the next 40GB arrive? Is that 12 Dec or 12 Jan (you said the second 40GB will arrive on the first billing date)? If that is 12 Dec that is amazing. If it's 12 Jan, doesn't that mean you have to pay the $40 again on 12 Jan or if you change to the $10 plan on 10 Jan, you still get 40GB?

    • You get the second 40GB in 1-8 days, Dec 12 in this case. Then switch to $10 plan for as many months as your 80GB lasts.

  • What's the best way to make use of this along with the $80 Belong SIM I got with Belong NBN if I want to port my permanent number that's currently on Kogan expiring on 28/11? Would this be okay?

    1) Purchase this $40 Starter Pack for $25. Activate with random number to get 40 + 40gb and random referral to get $20 credit. Let's call this SIM 1.
    2) Port out from Kogan to the $80 Belong SIM on the 29th (possibly 30th since the 29th is a Sunday and Kogan don't port on Sundays). Let's call this SIM 2. Activate on $25 plan to get 10GB + 10GB and use own referral from SIM 1 to get extra $20 credit. Switch to $10 plan. Should last another 7 months ($55+$20) with $5 credit left over.
    3) Gift the 80GB from SIM 1 to SIM 2.
    4) SIM 1 should have $40 in credit which can be used to recharge for 40GB in the second month if the referrals can stack ie?
    5) Gift 40GB to SIM 2.
    6) SIM 2 should have 147gb all up in 8 months?

    I thought I share my experience with the quoted above; recently (3 months ago), there is no way I was able to key in the referral code in the Activation portal/site, so you will have to contact their customer service and it may take them half a day to get back to you.

    The response that I had was the below:

    Once your service activated, please let us know the following details that way we may process you introduce a friend credit on your behalf.
    - Mobile number of friend
    - Introduce a Friend code
    - Device used to activate SIM (Either Mobile app/ Web Browser)

    Luckily the Belong rep was easy-going and let me use the OzBargain Belong pool however he did advise me that this will be one and only time that he be doing me a favour.

    so there you go; referral code is not as easy as punching the code in, as there is no place to punch them into Belong Activation portal.

    I thought I let fellow ozbargainers be aware of that pre purchasing.

    • For others in this situation just leave a message on one of these Belong posts and someone will happily reply via a private message with their referral code & number.

    • I had this same problem being confused about what to do last month…

      In case anybody is curious about what to do here's what you actually do:

        On Step 3), it says "Do you have a promo code?" - this is where you enter the referral code in.

        there is no way this step or "Do you have a promo code?" was available 3 months ago as I went to the same activation portal.

        If they have added that feature then my previous comment is no longer relevant.

  • Anybody know if you can port out of this once your period for Option 1 or Option 2 ends and then port back in after buying another one of these $20 sims?

    • I’m also interested to know. Ideally I wanna stick with boost, figured I could bounce between boost and belong. But I think I’ve heard a while ago that you really need to port to a carrier other than the telstra network and then you can port back in. Is that still a thing?

  • Hmm, I just activated this today (4th Dec, a billing date) and it is telling me that "I’ll get another 40GB on 04 January 2021". Does this mean that I've missed out on the extra 40GB data? Because they've stopped it or because I activated on a billing date?

    • Yes doesn't look like you will get it. Maybe double data days are over.

      Can others please comment with any recent experience?

      • I signed up on 30 November and only received 10GB on the $25 plan. I didn't receive any more data on the billing date
