  • So if I'm getting an Apple Watch from JB-Hi-Fi I just need to buy as many "The Him" or "The Her" or "The teens" cards as I can and it's free money towards it? Is there a limit on how many cards I can buy/use at JB at once?

    • +1

Yep 10% off whatever you can find. The issue will be finding the cards at Woolies. You can use as many as you like a once at JB

  • +2

Some of the repeat and basic questions in here would suggest that people are unable to read or comprehend basic stuff. This promotion is not for you, particularly if you want to stack with Zip, staff, other promos, or buy something of value.

  • BE AWARE! TCN suspended a lot of cards for no reason, so far as I knew, three of my friends are unable to use their cards
( I was the unlucky one last week, but I turned to be the lucy one as I didn't buy it!)

    • Sorry idk much about these things, but do you lose your money altogether if that happens? Surely a refund?

    • +9

My Restaurant card did not work at the cafe today where I had paid using the same card last week. I called TCN to raise this issue and they responded that they updated their system yesterday and going forward the Restaurant card will only work at large restaurants whose EFTPOS machines are registered as restaurants.
Conclusion: I am not buying any Restaurants and Pubs TCN card from now!

      • Yeah… that really kills my confidence at getting a $200 card for a birthday outing.

        • +1

Just so to pacify you! I still have $100+ worth of Pub & Bar card that worked in the same cafe before but will not work going forward. Its now super difficult to identify where the cards will work and where not as no Restaurants or Pubs have any signage about this. Wish they have Shop Small from AMEX kind of stickers. šŸ˜‚

          • @TheMills: Yeah. Near me I have a business that looks like a pub, a bar and a restaurant.

If I wanted to make use of this… which card do I get? :/

            • +1

@the discombobulated panda: The list of restaurants on the website is working now based on postcode but seems limited. Still can't get the app to work though

              • +1

@hoyanikon: Is their website accurate? Because there is definitely way more restaurants than the website shows in my town.

                • @baskinghobo: Yea don't think it's accurate on the site but at least gives a rough guide on the restaurants that accept them? The only way to find out is to test them really

              • @hoyanikon: May I have the link? I could not locate in on the website.

        • Yeah, good way to kill customer goodwill.

Why buy when thereā€™s a risk it wonā€™t be accepted because your interpretation of restaurant is different to someoneā€™s else.

      • +5

I bought TCN Him cards from the last deal but used them the next day. I was considering stocking up on more (including restaurant cards) for later use but will not be anymore. The way this company is updating its T&C's makes it too risky to keep hold of cards. I would like to think I was bound by the terms at purchase, not be caught out by changed T&C's down the track.

        • +4

I'll be burning through my remaining card as quickly as I can. Hopefully during boxing day sales.

Then I'll never get another. Stuff em.

          • @the discombobulated panda: I was able to use restaurant card at McDonald's and Domino's a week ago, but not anymore…a few of my cards have odd balances remaining so may be difficult to use.

            • +3

@TKC1984: Thats how TCN makes money, from remaining balance.

  • Couldn't find if this has been asked before, but can you get these discounts at Woolies Metro? (Coles Express werent participating in the 15% off)

  • -1

Well, JB just refused to convert these suckers to JB gift cards so that I could use them online. Whee! FFS. :/

It's 2020. WTF would you make something like this that cannot be used online?! :/

    • +1

Buy something, return it, get refund on JB gift cards.

      • +1

The cost of travel alone would destroy any of the savings I'd get.

I made a bad move getting these cards.

        • +1

Could have saved you time reading the comments its instore only

  • +1

Looking at the comments looks like there will be none left at my local woolies. Probably will just purchase jb hifi GC and get the 30$ cashback. Hoping they will have the GC available.

  • Grabbed 14 $100 from my local this morning, plenty left.

  • There r quite a lot at st ive as I just bought some from there.

  • No $100 at the Sunnybank Hills or Calamvale North.

    Calamvale North all gone..

SH some $50 Him and Her left

  • I just got a few from Cranbourne East. They're aost out. They wouldn't check out more than 10 cards anyway. The teens cards are included in the discount.

    • They "can" put them through in 2 transactions though. They did that for me 10 and 4 $100's

  • +1

Does it have to have the jbhifi logo on the card for it to work at jb

    • +2

I believe there are some "old" cards around without the logo but they still work. Best to check the TCN website first though.

      • Yeah I got the last 2 $50 HIM at Doncaster Sc, but only realized after I paid for them, no JB on them.
On the back it states fashioncardhim.com.au instead of thecardnetwork at the same spot, but TCN at the bottom.
I'm not sure how I got them, I was there yesterday and they had none, a staff member must have found them somewhere?

I'll contact them now to check.

Only wanted $100-150 JB & the active card $100-150, as it has the most shoe stores on it vs the HIM I got.

  • +1

only managed to get 3 $50's at my local. no $100s.. the store manager is only releasing them bit by bit throughout the week…

  • Woolworths Hawthorn East (Melbourne) not many left (830am). Only 2 Hers (50 dollar) and a few 30 dollar teen ones which confirm have the discount. I checked yesterday and there were heaps more. The lady said someone came this morning and bought almost all!

  • -7

    WARNING
JBHIFI WONT ACCEPT ANYMORE THAN $500 worth of these gift cards

  • +1

The teen 30 dollar card seems no work, it shows active but no any available Balance.

    • +1

Everyone is buying them now so their system gets slammed. Give it a couple of hours and you should see the balance. I bought $1400 of $100's this morning at 7am and must have beat the rush as all mine are showing the balance.

Happened last time with the Coles deal.

      • +1

        Thanks mate.

  • +1

No stock in Winston or Baulkham Hills

  • Got $750 through one transaction at Moorebank. The ladies were so nice about it šŸ™‚

  • So how would this deal actually work in conjunction with the zip pay deal. Wouldnt you have to wait till saturday to get the cards and by then there would be no cards left. Am i missing something?

    • +2

Nope you are correct. You'll get 10% off using Zip Pay on top of the 10% off the gift cards anwyay. But yes good luck finding cards on Saturday, some can't find any today and it just launched.

    • You still can earn 3% back with Zip on normal days.

  • Pretty much cleaned out at The Pines Doncaster East. There were only a few cards of Kids, Her and Teens left in $30 and $50 denominations.

  • +1

how long do these take to load up with credit? been about 2 hours and showing zero $

    • same, active but still showing zero balance
it makes me worry a bit. swap cards are much faster than these gift cards.

    • Yep same issue here. I only realised when I went to pay for something at JB and they declined. Been two hours as well.

      • i did note on the reciept it says it can take up to 48 hours to activate :l

        • +1

the balance is showing up for my gift cards now, 3.5 hours after buying them.

    • Unfortunately everyone is buying them at the same time so the system can't handle the load of thousands of cards trying to activate at the same time. I bought 14 at 7am and they all loaded by the time I got to work at 8am. I must have got in early before the "rush".

    • Thanks god I'm not alone lol

    • Is it necessary to register the cards online?

  • Honestly! All gone by 10am lol

  • Checked my local woolies and they had no stock of the Him or Her $100 cards with the JB hifi logo on them, but they did have some with just 6 retailers on the front and no mention of JB Hifi on the back. Can somebody please confirm that the Him or Her cards need to have the JB logo on the front of them to work at JB?

    • It should have white background, blue text for HIM card, pink text for HER card. Also at the back, the cards belong to thecardnetwork.com.au

  • +3

As much as I love saving money. I can't deal with the people that come after you and push in and try to break the record for the 100m sprint.
I get worked up and it ruins my day. So ill give it miss and enjoy happy hump day instead. šŸ˜

    • +2

Agreed it's too much for a grown man like myself. I walked into my Woolies this morning around 7:10 and nobody was around and heaps of cards. It's embarassing the lengths people will go to.

  • +1

Hi guys, I just bought some gift cards this morning but it turned out that all of them weren't working. I checked the balance and all of them was $0 but the status was active.

However, I went back to the woolworths again and told them what happened. they explained to me that activation may take up to 48 hours. Have you guys ever experienced this before ? I am so worried right now. I bought 18x $100 gift cards.

    • +1

My $30 dollars card takes around 3 hours to work.

      • +1

My cards seem active now. Took exactly three hours! Annoying cos I just left to pick up my son from kinder and now have to drive another 10km back to JB haha

        • 5 hours later my cards are still not active yet…..

  • +7

Just used 15 cards in JB to purchase an iPhone 12. That concludes my great gift card hunt of 2020. Ended up with a M1 Mac Mini, Apple Watch Series 6 and iPhone 12 with 45 gift cards.

Glad it's all over now lol

    • +1

About to walk in and do the exact same

    • +1

Nice. Went to my local woolies at 7am this morning and there were none to be found at all.

      • Dang mine was fully stocked heaps of HIM and HER $100's

        • +2

WW staff even checked the cupboard behind, huge mess, no way to even easily identify cards there, heaps of unlabelled boxes of cards. They gave up quickly.

Four disappointed (presumed) OzBargainers at Woolworths QV this morning :D

          • @ely: That sucks. Don't give up. At least there are way more Woolies than Big W's.

    • Which jbstore

      • The Glen VIC

  • +1

I saw heaps of these Him/Her etc TCN cards at my woolies but they donā€™t have the JB Hifi logo and is not included in the valid at list at the back (the Teens card does have JB but is not on d/c). Can someone please confirm these are ok at JB?

  • +5

I take back what I said
JBHIFI Prahran are just soft cocks and wonā€™t process anymore than 5 gift cards
JBHIFI Elizabeth st and Melbourne central were excellent
    https://imgur.com/gallery/yT66lSJ
    Also lol for the receipt

    • Lol curious what he bought

      • laptop and phone

    • Holy! That will give CVS receipts a run for their money in terms of length.

    • +1

Thanks I won't shop at jb prahran

  • Hi - Do I need to pre-activate the card or anything? Or can I just take it right over to the stores to use?

I checked the balance on one and it's showing as active, but $0

    • it's a well-known issue with TCN that the balance will come in hours after activation

      • Cool - Just saw some of the other replies. Thanks.

As for usage, I just simply wait for the balance to come through, scratch off the pins, and then I just take it to the shop and use at EFTPOS?

Sorry, I'm not really familiar with gift card hunting.
