      • Hey, u weren't the one who sold a $500 JB Hi-Fi card for $475 on eBay about a week or so ago, while the TCN cards was on at Woolies?… The eBayer posted it up saying $475 or nearest offer, as being an unwanted gift. I gave my best @ $440 offer (just to save myself $10 from the TCN Gc's), but it got rejected… typical! šŸ™„ But it got bought @ $475, or may had been offered it at the the last minute, or few seconds.

        • No, no clue what you're on about…

  • Heaps of cards available at Woolworths in Doreen, VIC.

    • I wouldn't tell anyone that. Because if they offered it again, many in Melbourne would be rushing for them. That's why I don't mention of 'exactly' which 'store & exact suburb location', of where I can get a good bargain. I'm a 'thrifty' bugger. Common sense too! šŸ˜‰.. šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚

      • +2

I donā€™t mind. Iā€™m not grabbing dozens for a purchase, just wanted to get a few for Xmas presents, which I managed, so sharing the love.

And if it comes again and I want to buy something? Que sera.

  • There were a couple of $100 HER cards left at Jannali NSW at 7pm. Possibly other types as well.

    • Thanks again. That's on the way to the 'gong. šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£

  • Bunch of$50 HIM and TEEN card available at Aspley QLD woolies

  • +1

There are still heaps of $50 Teen, Him and Her at Woolworths Abbotsford VIC.

  • Bought 2 $100 Restaurant cards in the afternoon. Tried to use it in the evening at a chinese Restaurant. The owner knows about the card and used oftenly by other customers, but mined was declined, seek card provider. Tried twice but same issue. Anyone has same issue ? Do we need to register or activate the card first ?

    • Needs to be 'activated'. Woolies staff gives u the activation receipt when making the purchase, just incase anything goes wrong.

      • I got them but still not able to use. Got refund from TCN

Probably too late to report this.. I was in Bayswater North woolworth and they were plenty Him/Her card.
I was super surprised people didnā€™t raid them up.

    • +1

I'll try there. None at Bayswater or Eastland yesterday..

I just went to my local store today and after much searching, I was informed by staff that all of the cards sold out in the local area on Wednesday morning, as soon as the sale commenced. I feel like this sort of thing should be referred to the ACCC. After all, there have been possibly up to a million people or so lured to drive at least half an hour or so to their nearest store on the false promise of these being available. Shouldn't Woolworths at least state on their website that they've sold out? I feel a bit cheated after driving several km past my local Coles store to only end up empty handed. I guess Coles and Aldi do similar stuff but it doesn't necessarily make it right. It is probably why no competitor will pursue for anti-competitive behaviour.

        • If you feel so strongly, go to the ACCC website and lodge a complaint.

    • Maybe they didn't know. I never get the catalogue sent now. And I know that many don't either. Unless they get it on the Thursday evening or Friday in their mail, and that's if they still get brochures delivered. Everything's done online now, and seem to only have catalogues at the supermarkets at the front counter, and when u walk in thru the auto gates of the store.

  • Anyone have any success in returning jbhifi goods brought with these giftcards for store credits

    • Few have reported success in various threads related to TCN discounted GCs.

    • There shouldn't be a problem. I've done this twice

      • Did they give you JB gift card for the refund?

        • +1

Thatā€™s right. If you look at the receipt, it doesnā€™t say the giftcards you used are from TCN.

  • before you buy these cards, read this post first https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/590456?page=1#comment-9808ā€¦

  • how is that a good deal if there were 20% and 15% recently ????

    • Because it's the best available right now.

    • Where were they discounted by 20%?

      • +1

Hehe this thread. 10% by Woolworths then 10% Via zip pay

        • So the Target post which I did also had the same 20% - 10% target and 10% via Zip pay and the question posed by @badsadlad was how is that a good deal?!!

          • @bajirao: haha dont take it personally - there was so much hype with the coles/bigw/woolies deals with these cards that TCN started having issues dealing with the volume resulting in some frustrated experiences. Your post was the next on point so bore the collective brunt of those frustrations.

            • +1

              @ccrap: None taken :)
I am actually happy that my post bought awareness about dodgy TCN as these messages could have been lost in the big Coles/BigW/Woolies threads.

    Warning!!!

I have multiple restaurant cards at least 2 of them do not work at the moment.
I tried at Macca and it said invalid transactions.

    • They are not supposed to work at Maccas.

      • not only Macca, all other restaurants and cafe also does not work.
I checked their FB and seems like a known issue.

        • Yes they are taking the "restaurant" term literally and excluding fast food restaurants, cafes etc.

          • @bajirao: but it also does not work at the restaurant that I went for lunch tho

          • +2

@bajirao: I wouldn't even say it's that they are taking it to literally. The problem is (apparently) that they're basing it off a merchant category code that gets applied when businesses get their EFTPOS machine.

I've had a look at the VISA category site (think it was posted on the TCN forum post) - searched a couple of restaurants and I don't believe they'd fit the category TCN want. So to advertise as it can work at any restaurant the accepts EFTPOS is horribly advertising.

  • +2

You should check the TCN Facebook page. Complaints are streaming in.

    • Please note the card is not valid at venues that are designated by their merchant category code as fast food or quick service restaurants.

I think they just made some change on the backend to ensure those transactions from fast food won't work.
now my problem is where are those quick service restaurants, we won't be able to check it

  • +1

Are the main complaints against the restaurant card? Hopefully no issues with Jb hifi..

    • +1

I used my cards without any issue at JB. (I had not got any from Coles but had purchased from Big W/Woolies/Target)

    • +1

I believe so. There were some issues with all cards with the balance being loaded, but with the change to what restaurants are eligible, it has really made it hit and miss.

  • Guys/Gals I read that JB have a $500 limit on TCN GC in one transaction. I have $900 worth of HIM/HER cards and the rest in JB GC's. Has anyone used more than 500$ of TCN cards in JB recently ?

Can these TCN cards be exchanged to JB G.cards ?

    • i just spent 1439 of her at jb and no drama.
Officially you can't change him or her to jb gift card, But you may buy and return to get jb giftcard

      • oh thats a hope. Hope I run through the transaction smoothly.

      • Can you buy a JB gift card with these? I got $750 worth

  • +5

Successfully purchased iPhone 12 today with all $50 HIM/HER/TEEN Cards (28 cards) at JB ;)

    • cool, congratulations. i am all set to purchase the pro max but dont know if its worth to wait till Christmas/boxing day sales kick on. Dont think the iphone will be on sale but I waiting this long lol

      • Not sure you will have any sales on iPhone. Better to use the gift cards as early as possible, donā€™t know when anyone put restrictions.

    • Thanks!

  • Just checking - is this promotion still going?

    NVM: just saw it expired

    • Last date was today ie. 15th December

    • KIDS card for 10% off is still going on for 1 more day (till today) at Target. Those are valid at JB.

      • At 10% off, its just easier to wait for Zip Saturday and buy direct from JB instead of hunting cards.

        • +2

You are right with 2 exceptions-
          (1) If purchase cannot wait till Saturday
          (2) There is still 3% cashback available via Zip so it's 13% discount today v/s 10% on Saturday.

  • Any ideas on how to use up the last couple dollars on the pub or restaurant cards?

    • Get to TCN facebook, message them for refund. They refunded me as I am unable to use newly card at a restaurant that cards oftenly used by other customers.

    • +2

I just tell the merchant that I want to use up my gift cards and to do a split payment. Most will oblige.

  • just tried redeeming @ jb but comes up as invalid.
has anyone gotten it sorted through tcn?

    • What card is it? Him, Her, etc
Where did you purchase it from?
      What was the value?

      • Teen GC, WW, mix of $30 and $50

        • +1

Is it possible to check the balance of the cards online somewhere? I also bought a few from the recent Woolworths promotion, I hope I don't have this problem

  • +1

All of you that obtained refunds, you should have claimed the full face value of the card from TCN. After all, that is the value that you lost as a result of relinquishing the unusable card.

What you paid for the card should be of no consequence to TCN. Had you paid more than the face value, would TCN have refunded that higher amount to you? It would not have.

    • Don't understand, can you refund your TCN gift card or you can saying after you use the TcN card buying from say JB hi-fi and then when you obtain the full value not the discount value from JB?

      • Sorry, I should have been clearer.

I am referring to those who had difficulty in using their cards and sought a refund directly from the card issuer, The Card Network (TCN).

It is my view that the refund from TCN should have been for the face value of the card (less any used portion). TCN had been refunding the lower discounted purchase price.

After all, the ultimate loss to the cardholder is the face value, not the purchase price.

Say, for example, the card had been purchased as a gift for someone, the purchase price to the cardholder would be $0. The consequential loss to them, however, would have been the face value of the card.

        • Thanks for clarifying. The big question is are the gift card refundable?

  • How do you check the balance for the him card? There is a link there but they want your name email phone number and also asked for a 20 digit card and itā€™s only 19 digits on the card

  • Thanks woolies. Used $2200 worth of gift cards to buy the 65ā€ CX from JB, the managers face when he came to the counter after the lovely lady did all $50 cards: LOL.

    • How much did you get it for? Iā€™m thinking of doing the same but waiting for the price to drop more around $2800

      • We got the 65inch CX for $3680, that was on the 19th December,I knew in advance that LG wouldnā€™t have Boxing Day for their CX line and why would they? Theyā€™re selling themselves, mind you we also bought a Hisene Q7 65inch, a 2pack Google Mesh wifi, a chromecast in the same purchase. So we were able to negotiate on the prices.

        • I guess with the discounted cards the CX came to $3455 for the 65inch

  • Purchased an iPhone today from JB HiFi - saved 18% off the price using a combination of:
    1) A few cards from Coles @ 15% off + 4% off
    2) A few TCN cards from Big W / Woolworths @ 10% off
    3) Changing over 2 phones to the JB Hifi plans (pocketing $400/$500 gift cards). Calculated what I would normally pay on prepaid vs this plan.
    4) A few gift cards from Group Advantage @ 5% off.
