250Mbps Plan for $99.95 on Opticomm Fibre Plans + Free Activation + Free Router (Min 12M) @ Uniti

560
LUNAR

I think this is the cheapest 250/25Mbps plan that I can find for Opticomm fibre.
You can also get 100/20Mbps for $80 and get the same free activation and free router (NetComm NF18MESH)

P.S: This deal is for Opticomm Fibre areas only and NOT valid for NBN areas.
For NBN, check this deal instead.

Spoke to their staff and they said the price will not go up as long as you stay as their customer, but could not find the information anywhere else on their website.
If you decided that you don't like them, the cancellation fee is $100, which is ok in my opinion.

  • Pity we have a few months left with myowntel, paying 60 for 25/5 250GB opticomm

  • +1

    Do they do gigabit?

    • +1

      I'm also interested in this.

    • Not that I know of. At least when I registered, the fastest I can go is the 250Mbps.

    • +1

Hi ChillBro, we are launching this soon. Please reach out to our friendly Sales team on 1300 847 201 to get more information. Thank you.

      • thx for the reply a few comments below. i was also wondering. when you said "we are launching this soon", did you mean in Opticomm areas only or in other fibre areas as well? more specifically to me, what about LBNco area in VIC golf estate suburbs. you knew i was on the 250/100 plan so you pretty much know where i mean right. thx.

        • +1

Hi charng, currently these plans are only being trialed with Opticomm as a lot of their network can support the Speeds. With LBNCo, although there is fiber lines, only small areas are able to support 250mbps+ connections.

  • +6

Why do all these 250Mbps plans only have 25Mbps upload, yet many 100Mbps plans have 40Mbps upload?

    • Are you sure it is 25Mbps? Was expecting it to be a lot more.

    • Even 100/40 is getting harder to find nowadays. wfh is only happening cuz of covid. its not what the guvment and hence the nbn want people doing.

    • +++++ to this

    • becasue from an RSP's side, it is (a lot) cheaper to offer the 100/20 and 250/25 plans after NBN co released new wholesale speed plans compared to the old 100/40.

why did NBN release new plans with slower uploads? one of the guesses is that HFC cannot handle 40Mbps upload well, not really, especially when a handful of people are hitting their upload cap in the same area at the same time. so by lowering the uploads, higher speed plans are more likely to sustain in HFC areas.

since the biggest wholesaler walked backwards ( in terms of uploads), some other competitors do not feel it necessary to compete, again in terms of uploads.

  • 250/25Mbps not showing on my area Melton, Victoria

    • Hi Angelscrap, our website does an SQ on the address to see if this speed can be supported, if it has not popped up after entering your address, we urge you to contact our sales team on 1300 847 201 to see what we can do to provision this

  • why isn't the 250mb plan showing?

    • Hi Jelicano, this plan is only on our Opticomm wholesaler. Our website does an SQ on the address to see if this speed can be supported, if it has not popped up after entering your address, we urge you to contact our sales team on 1300 847 201 to see what we can do to provision this.

Where can I get 100 up

  • $130 for 250/100 LBNCo plans. worth it? i got the first month free.

    • +1

Hi Charng, our 250/100 plans on LBNCo are only in very limited areas so these plans on LBNCo are in very small areas. We're glad to know you're currently experiencing a great service.

Do Uniti offer Static IP address’?

    • Hi Wisey18, we do offer static IP options. Static IP's are an additional $10 Per month.

  • So if I am already with Leaptel, do I have to call Leaptel for cancellation or is that done between the two providers?

    • You have to call Leaptel to cancel. Check first with them when is the end of your billing date and you can schedule the cancellation. Then register with uniti and schedule your installation on that date.

      • Right. Thanks!

    • No need to cancel, it’s handled between providers just like a mobile port

    • If you are on a month-to-month plan then you don’t need to call them.

      • I already called!

        Uniti also emailed saying

"Now your Uniti service is up and running, you can give notice and cancel any other Internet connection you might have."

Better be safe than sorry I guess….

        Thanks for the help!

    • Better yet, tell Uniti to set up the new connection on your other port (Ont 2) so you don't have any down time.

      • Right… I think they did, because they said a connection is already done? Not sure. I'll probably get back and set my current router up to the uniti setup, and see how it goes.

Keen on getting the new router though, as my current one for some reason keeps timing out and cutting the internet off.

  • +1

Odd. I have 250/25 with other providers but not showing for these guys.

Ah I misread the OP, it's not NBN, gotcha

  • I’ve got the UniFi USG router, apparently it will struggle with anything above 100/40. Can anyone confirm this?

    • +1

Switch off the USG IDS/IPS settings. For much faster IDS/IPS performance purchase the UDM or UDM Pro.

If all you need is a basic router, the USG gets the job done. It can route at 1 Gbps, but performance quickly suffers as you enable security features, especially the Intrusion Detection System or Intrusion Prevention System (IDS/IPS). With those features enabled, the USG drops to around 85 Mbps of throughput.

Watch out for this company, they are operating in Adelaide time ONLY Business Hour:
    Monday – Friday 8am – 9:00pm SA time
Saturday – Sunday 9am-5pm SA time

Adelaide and Perth is 2,5 hours different

If you expect technical support for Western Australia Business hours, you better think twice:
This is their Western Australia Time technical Support times:
    Monday – Friday 5:30am – 6:30pm WA time
Saturday – Sunday 6:30am-2:30pm WA time

    • +5

You write this "warning" in every Uniti post here! It's not a scam, heaven forbid a company outside the eastern states operates in their own time zone. Honestly, get over it.

  • Pretty sure they are also in the process of buying the Opticomm network

    • +2

I believe its been completed now.

    • Hi Juddy90, that is correct, currently Uniti Group has now acquired Opticomm.

  • +1

25M upload is a no go for me. If it was 100M, would have jumped on it. But good deal nevertheless.

  • +1

Just moved across form Leaptel and used your referral OP :) Thank you for saving me $30 pm.

    • Have you received your activation email yet? I signed up an hour ago and my previous internet has been disconnected with nothing from uniti yet. No internet at the moment :(

      • When I spoke to them, they said it could take 2-3 days for them to connect due to the demands. So I have scheduled the installation at the end of my billing period of my current ISP.

      • +1

Yes service is activated in under an hour. Only issue is… i am only getting 6MBPS when I was getting 100MBPS+ on leaptel…. Lets see if this improves.

Same thing happened to me. Leaptel internet just got disconnected without any notification. Had to call Uniti to get up and running with PPPOE login etc… Just call them…

I am hoping these speeds improve or I am going back to Leaptel!

        • Keep up posted with the speeds! I’m contemplating switching from Leaptel too.

          • @63pinecone: After disconnecting from Leaptel the Speed has gone up from 6mbps to around 28mbps. I have done a whole restart off the opticomm box etc. With leaptel i was averaging 100mbps+ on the 250mbps plan.

If the speed stays at around 30mbps…IM SWITCHING BACK TO LEAPTEL :)

            • @darkknightwayno: Hi Darkknightwayno, this doesn't seem correct in regards to only achieving 30mbps. Today I have made calls to customers who signed up yesterday and so far I have not had reported of performance issues. Are you able to send us a message on facebook or potentially email in to [email protected] with the subject line "OzBargain support" and I'll have your issue escalated directly to our level 2 team to query with Opticomm.

              • Jaekob (Customer Experience Manager)
    • Great to hear that. I'm moving from Leaptell as well :) Tried hard to ask them to match the price yesterday as I've been happy with Leaptel, unfortunately, they can't do it at the moment.

  • just as a word of warning, i changed over to these guys in the previous deal 100/40.
My peak speeds are 30-50 /23 so the same as when i was on 50/20 basically. Just ran one now 1:14pm 58/24

    • With NBN or OptiComm? Have you tried to connect directly to the router using a cable? Sometimes the wifi interference, that caused the slowness.

      • I am also getting only 6mbps on the 250mbps plan. On Opticomm. Lets see if i have any better luck after re-booting my modem!

      • Opticomm

I haven't really tried doing a direct connection, but I've had 100/40 with other providers before with the same hardware and i have got much higher speeds. But yeah.. each to their own your experience could be much better than mine due to a number of other factors too.

    • +1

Just ran mine. I'm on a Leaptel 50/20 plan and at 3:11pm I'm getting 81/17.

    • Hi ballofspam, this is not good to hear no matter what the speed should be. Myself, nor any other leader in this business believe anyone should experience a Sub-par connection whilst with us. If you're having issues, I do urge you to get into contact with out Support team to have this investigated with urgency.

  • +3

Strangely Ookla is giving me not more than 30mbps on the browser speed test but when i do an in app speed test through my Night hawk App its saying speed is 243MB!!!!!

Now I am hoping my App and Router is correct :) Keep ya all posted!

    • Hi darkknightwayno! Woohoo, this is what we like to hear. If you experience any issues, please don't hesitate to get in contact as we would love to be of assistance.
      - Jaekob (Customer Experience Manager)

  • not a bad deal. most households probably don't need the upload speed but I am one of the few that do periodically. Will check you guys out when different plans are offered on Opticomm.

    • Hi marbss, thanks for the feedback, we look forward to potentially getting you as a customer in the future!

      • Jaekob (Customer Experience Manager)
  • can someone post some screenshots of speedtests? It's concerning to hear so many negative reports in this thread.

    • +1

Hi Xii4obear, there is the potential of the Optical network unit needing to be restarted for the speeds to increase. I have made calls to 90% of customers who signed up yesterday and so far haven't received a report of a performance issue from them today.

      • Jaekob (Customer Experience Manager)
    • connected directly to the router via cable and was able to get 270Mbps!

  • I'm also making a move to Uniti Wireless from ABB, I never had issue with ABB they have an awesome customer service and speeds, but looking at the comments I'm a bit worried now, would someone please post screenshots from the service please.

  • Anyone know when this offer expires?

Exetel have a 30 day notice period for cancellation so looking to minimise the overlap if I decide to switch.

Only thinking holding me back is the drop in upload vs what I have now and the static IP. Still paying $89.99 for 100/40 but uncontracted so they can bump up at anytime.

    • Hi Davodinkum, we don't have to ASAP activate your service, we can schedule it to activate on a specific date which means you won't be charged until it activates (Saves you overlapping)

We would be able to provide the 250/25 plan with static IP for $109.95.

      • Jaekob (Customer Experience Manager)
  • Just signed up and the link didn't allow me to add in the referrer/referee code for some odd reason. I emailed them afterwards though only was advised that they'll credit the referrer. I've followed up to ask for my own referee voucher code. Not a great start.

Also note that they do credit checks on you once signed up (with your approval).

Will keep those informed on how it goes. Bit shaky so far.

    • Hi Ashh77, Welcome Aboard! We do credit checks on services once it hits a total yearly amount which is required to make sure you can financially support the plan. In regards to the referral links, this should have been included within the application so I will pass this information on to our software team to check over the applications and ensure everything is running smoothly!

      • Jaekob (Customer Experience Manager)
  • Credit where credit is due - the customer service is fantastic.

Had originally planned a future activation date but decided to bring it forward to today. Called up and was up and running within about an hour and a half.

They did take down my existing internet service though - thought they would have activated on a different port but ended up on the same one. But all good once I updated my router with the new credentials.

Connected via Ethernet, getting 250mbps down!

    • I was on Uniti for their fixed wireless for a bit over a year before NBN was installed, had a few issues on install (all related to the wireless setup specifically) but they made it right in the end and it was pretty great.

After that they were always awesome. Despite having rate increases they always kept me grandfathered on their old plan. NBN wound up costing me more, however it has been more reliable than the dish on the roof.

Very tempted to switch back again, $90 a month for their 100/40 plan at the moment is decent. Paying $99 through Superloop for that.

      • Hi Davodinkum, thanks for providing us with this feedback, we really appreciate the kind words. I'm the Customer Experience manager and here at Uniti, we pride ourselves on providing World Class Customer service to all of our customers, to really make the experience memorable. We're glad to know that currently your up and running and that everything is going smoothly!

        • Jaekob (Customer Experience Manager)
      • Hi Freefall101, this is awesome feedback also, although there may have been some issues during installation, I'm glad to hear that you overall pleased with the service. Hopefully this 100/40 plan tempts you enough to want to make the move back to Uniti! Let me know if I can be of any assistance or if you require any information.

        • Jaekob (Customer Experience Manager)
  • Code does not appear to be valid for 100 mbps?? would have signed up otherwise.

    • Hi yacman, if you would like to give us a call to our Sales team, I can get something processed for you that would help you signing up! Let me know if you would like my assistance.

    • Hi fishandchips, thanks for positing our operating hours, unfortunately we don't operate 24/7 at this stage, however we're more than committed to assisting our customers at most times, with the entire middle management taking a roster for after hours social media, in our own time, because we want to ensure all of our customers get answered even outside of hours.

Majority of our wholesalers also are not in Perth so often any time after these posted operating times, if there was a fault it may be difficult for us to resolve right there and then on that call.

We are rapidly growing, the companies more than doubled it's size since I was bought over in February and I'm looking forward to a potential longer operating hour contact center hopefully somewhere in the not to distant future!

      • Jaekob (Customer Experience Manager)
  • I think the offer is over, tried the code and says "offer not valid"

    • I have just checked and the offer is still there. Are you in Opticomm estate?

  • Hi Uniti, how long will you give out the referral bonus? I have asked this question several times and even message you directly, but no one apparently able to answer this?

    • Hi flickr, sorry about the delay in response! The referral bonus has a structure.

The person who used to code.

      • Must have signed up for a 12 month plan
      • Has DD enabled
      • Successfully paid their first invoice.

Once this is completed the gift will be issued. If this has occurred, we do urge you to contact our support team directly to have this rectified.

      • After contacting Uniti support several times, finally, got an answer that the discount code (OPTILAUNCH) will not enable us to get a gift card? Can you please confirm as you have not mentioned this above?
