40,000 $200 Regional Travel Rebates on $400 Travel Spend Available to Victorians

6136

From Friday at 10am, the Victorian government is offering 40,000 Victorians $200 'vouchers' to travel within Victoria between December 12 and January 22 as a stimulus for the tourism industry.

You have to spend over $400 on one of the following categories to get the $200 back:
- accommodation
- tours
- local attractions

Exclusions are gaming, alcohol (except if alcohol is included in wine/brewery/distillery tasting type tour but excludes any alcohol purchased and consumed outside of the experience), fuel, food and drinks (except where packaged with an eligible expense such as a winery tour), groceries, personal items such as clothing and accessories, transport costs (rental vehicles, train and bus tickets).

It's really a reimbursement from the government though – travellers have to apply for the voucher, pay for the travel upfront and then receive a reimbursement from the government.

Still, $200 back on your trip is still $200 back!

Another 40,000 vouchers will be available on January 20, and may be redeemed for travel from January 27 to April 1, and the final batch of vouchers will be released on March 30 for use from April 6 to May 31.

Update: An extra 30,000 regional tourism vouchers will be made available to Victorians at 12PM today. Sold Out

Round 2: 40,000 vouchers will be released from 20 January 2021, 10.00am for travel between 27 January 2021 to 1 April 2021. Sold Out

Round 3: 30 March 2021, 10.00am, for travel between 6 April 2021 to 31 May 2021

    • +2

haha, I've just filled in my address and license details then maintenance message…

      what a joke for a million-dollar initiative!

  • +1

they should just call it off, fix their issue first and then give a new date to apply. This is embarrassing.

  • +4

and you wonder why they could not trace anyone with COVID and did it all paper based
    none of the systems worked

    • +2

That's their own fault, they budget cut things that are useful like systems and maintenance (Case in point - train track maintenance which they had to reinstate due to the unreliability they caused) and giving hospitals the PPE they needed to stack in excessive numbers of public service and largesse at the top. Dan brought in international 'experts' and tried to 'do things differently' and not only did they cost a lot, they failed badly.

NSW and other states had computer systems that worked. It's not that hard.

      • Spend all your money on consultants and marketing
Hire no one to do real work

I work in IT.. the amount of people who do nothing although paid well is amazing.
Each cuts they look to see how many people who actually do work can go.

      • There budget is there, just that they used it elsewhere.

    • How long did it take you to get through? I'm currently up to 21mins and still on hold. At least the music isn't as bad as some banking and telco companies

      • Update: so I got through and was advised they're not taking applications over the phone and it must be done online.

    • `# thanks ?

I just called the hotline. The guy I spoke to said there is no way they can process the voucher over the phone and that I just have to keep refreshing.

Not sure why people are claiming they've got it by calling up?

I also mentioned they were all over the news and number 1 trending on twitter. He apparently had no idea. Strange.

    • Called as well and got the same answer. Keep trying the broken website. They wouldn't take any details over the phone.

      • +2

Had the same. Called with two different devices and got the exact response from both operators.

        Such a joke.

    • I received the same response

    • You got trolled hard.

  • A student will easily set up codeless Microsoft or Google Forms.

  • For further assistance please call the Business Victoria hotline on 13 22 15.

    • +1

and wait for 2 hours for your call to be answered and told go on the website and hit F5

  • "Submission Received" - SUCCESS FINALLY!!

    • any tips besides keep refreshing?

      • Nope… keep going back and refreshing

        • do you have to go back and refreshing or just refreshing the current page?

          • +1

@emeraldpiggy: If you have started filling the form and is failing while submitting, keep going back and submit again until successful. If the form is not loading at all then keep refreshing on the same page.

  • How are people getting past "Save and Submit"? It just seems to continuously loop.

    • Same, stuck on the Save and Submit button screen now too

  • Got past the review page and asked to login with username and password. Do we have to register first?

    • Just follow the process - you register during the process.

      • +2

I'm returned to the registration page with blank password fields after filling in the email, name and password fields and clicking Submit. Did you get the same issue?

        • No, sorry

        • Same thing for me

          • @takezo: Did you figure out how to progress past the registration page?

  • +1

Thank goodness. Finally got "Submission Received". I had to keep refreshing dozens of times and alternate between my home wifi, personal hotspot and 4g to stop the DDOS messages but eventually got there. Just hope they actually received it!
