    TN 220nits

    I hope that's a typo on Amazon's part.

    • +3

250nits is regarded as sub-optimal. Of these screens are really 220nits, may have to also get a cheap headtorch from Amazon to better see what is on the screen.

      • +1

        headtorch

        It's also glossy!

        • +2

Order a pair of polarized sunglasses when you get the headtorch.

      • Haha I did see some reviews saying a bit dim in a very bright environment but still good for that price

  • 2.16kg for a 14" laptop, WTH?!! >.< At first I thought this was weight training by stealth for anyone buying this for their kid, but then I checked the Lenovo product page - it's actually only 1.5kg, the Amazon listing is incorrect (unless it's referring to the shipping weight of the packaged product).

    • I'm pretty sure it's for packaged product. Net weight should be around 1.5kg

  • Soldered anything

    Just, no. Talk about planned-obsolescence….

This deal is not worth it for what's now a previous gen dual core processor with an inferior panel. If you need a touch screen, the Asus VivoBook 14 flip is a better deal and was on sale at Amazon for $769 recently for Au stock.

Or wait for 15% off JB sales. (Currently $898)

    Asus vs this Lenovo laptop

AMD Ryzen 3 4300U quadcore processor is alot faster than the Intel dual core in this post.
IPS 1080p panel vs TN panel of this post.
RAM is expandable with a spare SO-DIMM slot vs soldered only of this post.

    • I have been researching these two a fair bit. Lenovo ryzen comes slightly on top but Asus is great if theres a decent price.
might go for the US version if I don't see a decent deal leading upto xmas.

    • The VicoBook Flip I ordered had a poorly assembled touchpad which can't be adjusted, so it has to go back. Only Amazon have no stock, so may have to wait until February, when my son will need it for school. There's no way this would have passed a simple quality control check if it had been tested, so clearly it wasn't (pressing the keypad buttons locks them below the edge of the chassis, I discovered it within minutes of opening it). Super frustrating, and far from the first time I've had problems out-of-the-box with Asus products.

      • Hey TrevorX! Sorry to hijack the comment, but I've been trying to find how to contact you in PM on here (in regards to the seagate exos 16TB drives from a while back). It says your account won't accept new PM's. You able to flick me a PM, and I should be able to respond :) Cheers.
