To be fair it’s more like a 1080 TI perhaps as it doesn’t have DLSS or ray tracing.
It’s also going into a new build anyway, the other build is still there mainly for photo editing now.

Edit: also I like ITX builds and the latest generation of cards from both sides has proven much more difficult due to either slot width or length

        • you talk about DLSS like you know what it is
you do know thats mainly for 4 k gaming right and not worth it on 3070
3090 maybe but not this card - buying this card for rtx and DLSS is a waste of money

          • @botchie: I have 4K TVs and 4K monitors.
The 5700XT struggles at 4K even on reduce to medium.

So, this will likely help a bit, right?

Ideally i wanted the 3080… maybe I’ll upgrade in 6 months when prices and ITX build cards are sane and available. Right now today I got a new 5800X build waiting for a GPU.
Not ideal… but neither is the whole situation ¯_(ツ)_/¯

            • @[Deactivated]: well…like i say - for 4 k this isn't the card I'm afraid
              maybe a low level 4k?
you would be better of getting an xbox at $750 and playing on that on your TV TBH

@botchie: You talk about DLSS like you know what it is.

You do know that it works at all mainstream 16:9 resolutions at 1080p or higher and that it affords significant performance boosts for minimal visual quality loss on all RTX cards? As a result DLSS is absolutely worth it on a 3070, or a 2070 for that matter.

Using quality DLSS at 1440p and performance DLSS at 4k the 3070 is very performant in ray tracing games like Control and obviously only loses to the 3080 and 3090 in Cyberpunk.

@slingJay: look, dont get me wrong
the concept it cool and all but you are talking about 1 game - Control
rest of the games it does nothing
              in the future? MAYBE
but by then there will be 4070 or 4170 card

there is no reason to spend $900 on this card now to experience DLSS or RTX
you might have done it yourself and want to justify it but do it only if you don't care about your hard earned $$ or if you r parents pay for this
for anyone gaming regularly and playing multiplayer games with occasional single player game there is no worth to this
IMO the only ppl that should upgrade now are those that have a pre 10x card and have been waiting a while and were smart enough not to buy into 2080 series

              • @botchie: You've backflipped on your post saying the 3070 was a waste of money for DLSS but the 3090 might not be. This is clearly nonsense.

For my money the 3060ti is better value than the 3070 but I don't have skin in the game either way. People can spend their hard earned cash on whatever they wish.

  • Finally managed to nab one. Thanks OP. Now, if someone could point me in the direction of some AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors, that would be great.

  • Ordersed a 3080 master from scorptec 27/11 and got it this week, so 3-4 weeks.. was a $1649 card tho

    • you must be rich.

    • Got scalped.

  • Am I stupid to buy this card onli for playing 2077

    • yes

    • Yes, but surely 2077 is not the only game you will play.

    • You're not the only one. When people don't play cyberpunk, NV GPU goes cheaper.

      • wat abt mining market

        • That's a good point. When btc goes below cost (eg. sub $6000), some of them may just stop mining. I guess the popular card 3060ti will be cheaper by then.

          • @tedzozb: I remember when the bitcoin crashed a couple of years ago, a bunch of used RX580 ex-mining graphic cards flooded the market (eBay).

Hope same happens with 3080 ;)

  • Is it worth upgrading from an original 2080 (non-super)?

    • +1

Probably not as per most sentiment unless
Ray tracing performance is a big thing and even then

    • +1

It depends, I would say borderline yes. But better wait for 3080.

      • +1

Better waiting for 4070/4080 IMO or Radeon 7800xt.
2080 will be solid for some time unless you really want ray tracing on high now.

        • Hmm not sure how long to wait for 4070/4080, waiting for 3080 has been painful enough.

    • Thanks guys. I'll wait.

  • +1

Wouldn’t call this a bargain to be honest

    • Yeah it's a good price though.

Considering the current climate with graphic cards, a good price does the job.

    • I think we will see more deals like that for RTX 3070.

      • Yes possibly low $800 Xmas deals. My guess lowest around $829

  • upgrade from my 1060? Or should I wait a lil longer?

    • +1

      WORTH

    • +1

Longer you wait longer you miss out.

      Do it now.

      • well RIP, OOS LMAO, till next time :(

  • TechFast on holiday? I was under the impression they'll release 3060Ti deal this summer holiday.

  • What is the RRP for 3060 TI and 3070 TI?

    • $688 for 3060 Ti and $809 for 3070, but they are for Founders Edition cards and quite meaningless.

      • why is that? I think founders edition is better.. So I should buy one for msi or asus?

        • There was only a limited number available and can't buy anymore.

Just buy whichever one you can find at a good price.

Number of votes on a deal posted on Ozb is a good indicator of good price.

  • Good deal, would be better if it wasnt a Zotac.

    • Yeah, would be a bargain if something like Asus Strix was this price!

      • +1

Doesnt have to be high end but Zotac is exceptionally shit.

  • +1

    Party over peeps. Sold out.

  • +6

Overpriced for this card, Zotac is low end and this is a dual fan. Funny how posts for Xbox Series S get so many negs for RRP, yet shit like this is all positive.

  • +3

This zotac one is ranked below the founders lol

    Poor thermals

  • +1

Mine just arrived, haven't hooked it up yet but in general here are my thoughts.

Scorptec packaging was excellent, no risk it getting broken in shipping from what I can tell.

The card itself in person looks really good, the images don't do it justice. It's tiny for the class of card that it is. They could have made the card 1-2 cm longer and had both fans as 100mm rather than 92 and 100, most likely an aesthetic choice. Also there are only 4 smallish heatpipes, it would have been nice if they went with larger diameter or an additional heatpipe. Finally i can make out what looks like high quality black thermal pads through the holes in the metal backplate.

Good points - I've never had a Zotac card but i think their design is at least different from all my previous gigabyte cards. It reminds me of my previous MSI Gaming X card, which is nice.

I've had this card for a week now and I'd say for a 3070 you get what you have been promised. I think its a little noisier than the 2070 Super I have but nowhere as loud as my previous 1070 Gaming X. The card does well hitting boost clocks above the rated numbers and the 10% OC on MSI Afterburner will give you a slightly higher boost.

      • Was really impressed with it, noise level is perfectly fine, not silent but not screaming, then after 5 minutes of cyberpunk 2077, coil whine. It's quite noticeable, but I'll have a play with undervolting this weekend and see if I can get rid of it.

I fired up a bunch of other games and it seems like cyberpunk is the only one that can stress it enough for the whine to kick in.

        • Not that anyone is still reading this, but I have been unable to get the coil whine I experienced yesterday to happen again. Hopefully it's the end of it.

I've even dabbled with overclocking to force the situation.

  • Just to note this card is back in stock again at the "promo" price

Ordered Wednesday evening and arrived first thing this morning in Victoria with express post so looks like I have a project for the weekend. Thanks again OP!
