My initial one did that. The 3 telstra just emailed me about are tracking for delivery now, unsure why but scanned today as well.

Check your emails people! You might have new shipping notifications - i've got 3 out of the 5 i ordered and a single cancellation email.

          • @MorriJ: Just to clarify, the 4th tracking email from telstra went to junk mail.

So out of the 5 orders, 4 have tracking for and email from telstra saying its on the way.

Received one cancellation email and 5x 149 refunded to the myrewards account.

I suspect the emails weren't meant to go out and they are trying to get the items returned via startrack. The delivery was started last Thursday, but updated today with:

            Auspost:
            LastUpdate:
            Transferred GREENACRE NSW

            Startrack:
            Last update:
            At Delivery Depot

            • @MorriJ: did you get any of the earphones

              • @[Deactivated]: Nah, held on delivery dispatch. Same as the others unfortunately.

They left the Thursday for delivery on Friday but were recalled and transferred back to Telstra :(.

        • You mean stuck in the driver's ear ?

  • ~~STOP PRESS~~~

    Hi,
A technical issue meant we listed the JBL Tune 120TWS Earbuds online in our Telstra Plus store for 149 points instead of 149,000 points. We know you placed an order for these earbuds but we’ve now cancelled the order.

We’re sorry for the confusion, and we’ll refund the 149 points back to your Telstra Plus balance.

If you wish to order the earbuds again you can do so for the correct 149,000 points.

    Regards,

    The Telstra Team

Lodged a complaint with telstra about cancelling the order, asked for the earphones or compensation. The provided next month's bill for free. Not a total loss :)

    • +1

Might try that just in case they agree , is it a web form or via phone/chat

      • +2

For me the testra app on my phone > get help > blue chat button.

Gets a chatbot, say complaint. You'll get a person. Make your complaint but expect someone playing dumb or who is actually dumb. I said that I wanted the headphones, they offered to deduct 149,000 point and place the order, i explained again. then they offered to charge me the difference because I dont have 149,000 points. Went around and around for 5 mins of them playing dumb that I wanted the headphones for the original price until I said I wanted some form of compensation.

  • +3

Just got notification of item shipping now. Ordered 5, have 1 x cancellation, 3 confirmed shipped. Separate orders for each, seperate shipping notifications. Anyone in a similar position? Unsure what happened to the 5th but i am not complaining, cheap headphones are cheap headphones!

I just got the same email.

      • +2

I just got the same email.

        That's weird, mine also says

        "Hi JAMES,"

        ???

    • +1

Same here, one cancelled. One on the way? And got 298 pts back. What a mess?

    • +1

Same here, got tracking email, but got all the points refunded. Strange.

  • +3

Got the cancelled email yesterday and today got the email from telstra with your order is on its way with a tracking number. What drugs is telstra on?

    • +1

Same thing…Likely StarTrack intercepting the delivery to return it back to Telstra

  • Finally got 149 points back to my account. I was hoping for 149000 points but sadly they are too dumb.

  • +1

I made 2 separate orders. Got the points back today for both the orders.
Had 1 cancellation email yesterday and 1 Startrack shipping email today.
Not sure how this will end lols.
Nothing to complain about. If I get it, then well and good, if not, I have already got my points back.

  • +10

The fact that orders were actually shipped out and are now being attempted to be clawed back from StarTrack gives credence to the fact that were it not for some people contacting Telstra due to their concern of their 149 pts (about 50 cents) and hassling of order status, has essentially got someone raising the alarm at Telstra and made them manually intervene and backtrack. Otherwise the orders would have been auto processed and sent out .
People ordering 10-15 units each probably didn’t help. Never underestimate human greed.

Fair play to Telstra to attempt minimise damage of this scale . Think I’ll let it go once I get my points back.

oh and thanks OP for letting the community know about this deal in good faith. If you hadnt posted you would have been the proud owner of 2 of these earbuds.

    • +2

Exactly this. Nothing wrong with contacting a week or two down the track after orders have been received if you still haven't managed to get one but contacting before a realistic delivery timeframe is pretty silly.

      • +3

The world is not perfect, you can't expect everyone to have common sense. Some of them just can't.

      • +3

I reckon, people are contacting the day after asking for shipping… Common sense is not common these days. Just astounds me…

    • +4

Some people just ruin it for everyone else.
Got to accept that u win some and loose some and let it go.

    • +3

yes, irony being that those who didnt receive after reasonable time, would have been in a stronger position to either request Telstra to honor deal or some equivalent value compensation as some orders fulfilled by then. Everyone misses out now ….. c'est la vie. Happy holidays everyone and stay safe, we have bigger concerns at a global scale.

    • ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  • +11

Ordered two, received one via Auspost and the other got cancelled.

    • +2

Well, atleast someone's having a merry Christmas!!

    • +1

Did you also get 149x2 points back to your account?

      • Refunded just 1X 149 points.

    • +4

      Pics or it didn't happen

  • +1

I ordered 2 units separately. One before the first outage and the other just after. I've been credited back the points for both, so looks like it's no-go. Thanks anyway OP. No harm in trying.

  • +4

Perusing everyone's orders, it certainly appears they are all stuck in the same state.

Startrack aren't too smart with the urls they use for Telstra (the consignment numbers are incremented sequentially).

Can't get much information out of it thankfully (no names) but can see which suburb items are shipped to and their order number and associated australia post tracking number.

    Bit shady.

I skimmed maybe 30 or 40 orders to all sorts of locations ADE, SYD, MEL, BRI, none of them have seemed to have been delivered.

Orders during the same time period that weren't from the rewards centre (eg not prefixed with a LYO) were delivered successfully.

  • Refunded 149x3.

  • Refunded, and can see no listing on Telstra Plus for these buds at 149000 points.

    their email:
"If you wish to order the earbuds again you can do so for the correct 149,000 points."

Where from, I would ask, but alas it is from a no-reply address.

Their excuse for a 149k price holds no water considering they have listed buds+ for 70k, buds live for 75k, airpods pro for 132k, and that there is no listing for these buds anyway.

14900 would have at least been remotely believable, considering the other buds.

My guess is they panicked, and scrambled for any excuse to get them off the hook.

    • +1

They are Telstra, you may expect this kind of behaviour.

    • +3

they panicked, and scrambled for any excuse to get them off the hook.

That's just their normal business practice…

  • Does anyone get their order (or at least one jbl) or its all been canceled?

    • -5

I ordered mine an hour before this post was created (I stumbled across it when seeing what I could spend my last remaining points on), and of my 9 orders all points have been credited and I received about 3 or 4 order notifications, all tracking as not having left SYD. But I also ordered another completely different item that was shipped interstate and then returned to sender prior to being delivered…so it's possible they recalled everything that was sent out late last week.

  • I have not yet received a tracking code or cancellation email. Just a confirmation that the order has been fulfilled. How were you guys able to track down the parcel?

  • This is weird, getting tracking info from austpost now.. and got my refunds.. hmmm.. hopefully, Santa makes it by Christmas..lolz

    • Was the tracking code sent to you in a different email?

    • Thanks Santa.

      • Did you get it mate?

  • +1

So got myself a pretty good result, I thought I'd ask the question in the Telstra Live Chat in the App about what happened and was told I could repurchase for 149k points. I then queried the pricing of the saying it didn't make sense in line with other headphones etc - then I also noted that the item wasn't even in the store for 149k points. The rep got back to me with an offer of a $149 bill credit so I could go out and buy the headphones myself :D

    • No such luck for me ☹️

      • +1

I definitely think I struck it lucky!

        • +2

A very happy New year to you. May this luck continues all through the year!

    • Tried and failed. Consultant really didn't care.

      • That sucks. The fact it still isn't on the store (when I last looked yesterday) just shows their email about it being 149k points was pretty crap.

        • +2

Maybe all the stock is still stuck in transit to people?

  • I got a tracking notification in my auspost app that a parcel is being sent from Greenacre, NSW. Is this what I think it is? FYI I had already got a cancellation email and got my points refunded.

  • +4

Wow, I also got tracking email from Greenacre

It turned out to be Finish dishwashing tablets - 384 of them 😂

    • Do not stick them in your ears - they sound ok but the rinse aid leaves the ears very dry. I'm returning mine.

  • I still have received any updates after the confirmation email.no cancellation or tracking

  • +4

Just got an email from Telstra

Great news! Your parcel is on its way.
Your order’s on its way! Now what?
    Hi JV,

    Order Number: TVH53723174

We’re expecting your delivery to arrive at your nominated address soon!

    • Looks like Christmas 2021 is coming early!

    • Same here got an email about the same time, same message. Wait and see!

    • Same here, I ordered 4 pairs. I wonder if they're sending them all? I received an email previously saying they'd refunded me.

    • +1

I received a tracking email last night.
Wont get too excited though - when you look at the tracking the last update to it has scan date 17/12/2020, ETA delivery 18/12/2020

      • +1

        ETA delivery 18/12/2020

Aus Post site warns of delays due to COVID.

  • That email from Telstra is system automatic email. I received one way before Christmas, and another one recently. We all know that is not going to happen. Just forget it.

    • I think you're right, I've heard nothing since getting a Startrack tracking #

  • +1

Its Telstra. You learn to expect this kind of thing.
The politicians got their multi billion dollar future fund pot of gold, for the rest of us - a sprinkle of random google surveillence gifts, alongside "technical error" ridden offers for random but ultimately subpar stuff, followed by poorly written cancellation emails that are borderline bait and switch.

  • I contacted StarTrack directed and this was the response, ain't going to bother contacting Telstra.

    Hi,

This freight was returned to Telstra as this was a dispatch error, please contact them for further assistance.
