Can I use this to extend my existing M3 Deco? Thanks

    • +1

You can but it's not recommended. It's recommended to use the M5 for the main router and M3 for extra satellites.

      Deco M5 = 512MB of RAM.
      Deco M3 (M4R) = 128MB of RAM.

      Thanks for the heads up

  • Thanks!

  • Silly question with these can I also continue to use my modem/router from my ISP for wireless? Or am I now just using these 2 and my router is now just a modem?

I currently run my main router downstairs with an old one upstairs set up as an access point but I find the reception average and more annoyingly none of my devices auto switch to the better network despite the same SSID.

    • You should just need your modem/router and the mesh system, the old router upstairs wouldn't be needed anymore.

    • Nah the ISP modem/router wireless gets turned off or in some cases removed entirely from the setup. Who are you with? Do you use VoIP or mobile only to make phone calls?

FTTN, FTTB, FTTC, FTTP or HFC?

      • FTTN Aussie broadband. No voip

        • FTTN setup steps.

Step 1: login to the VDSL2 modem settings page.
          Step 2: enable bridge mode.
Step 3: login to Aussie BB app to kick the connection.
Step 4: connect Deco M5 to VDSL2 modem.
Step 5: setup Deco M5 with Deco app.
          Step 6: check everything works.
Step 7: turn off VDSL2 modems wireless.

          • @Twix: Ok awesome. And then to connect the second one (via Ethernet backhaul) it would plug in to the first Deco? Or the router.

@uder: Hook up Ethernet from first Deco router to the second Deco.

              • @Twix: Mate total idiot. Typo I'm actually in FTTC.

                • @uder: FTTC setup steps.

Step 1: remove the ISP modem from the setup.
Step 2: login to Aussie BB app to kick the connection.
Step 3: connect Deco M5 to NBN box.
Step 4: setup Deco M5 with Deco app.

                  • @Twix: Hmm my Xbox connects via wired Ethernet into the modem. That means I would have to switch all my devices to wired?

                    • @uder: Purchase a TP-Link switch for more Ethernet ports.
