  • I believe this is a historic low, don't recall them being lower than $299. Absolutely would recommend this for anyone looking for a desktop upgrade for their speakers, especially if you're on the Logitech's and have wanted an upgrade path.

Just bought one for my tv/consoles setup.

Comb through a bunch of reviews and the negatives are mainly superficial stuffs, ie. Including cables too short, display panel too small etc.

Sound quality wise, all.the reviews been pretty positive.

Looking forward to completing my entertainment setup with these.

    • How did it go for you? I’m looking to do the same. So would appreciate some feedback

      • +1

        Really good actually.

The sound is rather clean and crisp. Bearing in mind I listen to Asian music so I've not really pushed the acoustic with heavy rocks/classical..

I do have an elderly dog so I've not turned up the volume like crazy.. I did turn it up pass mid point and not losing any distortion.

I'm running the BT off a LG TV and there zero delay.

The speakers and sub are very very well and the wood finish is classy.. I have zero regret.

        • Nice ! Thank you!

  • Thanks OP. The right speaker finally stopped working on my Logitechs after years of use a week ago. Should be an upgrade :D

    • On a side note, I paid $120 for the Logitechs but now the cost is $220. From all the good reviews on these I will try them out.

Just received mine from the last deal, and unfortunately faulty. Have the same high pitched whine someone else reported. From the R powered speaker, quite audible.

What are people's experience with returning to wireless 1? If easy, tempting to buy another set and just refund the faulty.

  • Are these a suitable alternative to a soundbar for TV? Or are soundbars better if they have remotes etc?

    • +2

of course. before soundbars were a thing, people used speakers… if you click on the product page they clearly show it with a TV.

soundbars are just more convenient in terms of space and aesthetics because they fit neatly under your TV and have less wiring.

fitting speakers, especially ones that aren't floorstanding, next to an already massive TV isn't going to work for everyone.

    • I watched a couple reviews and they call these sound bar killers and say they compare with speakers priced three times more.

      • I'm not really into cinema, so my TV speakers do fine for now (it's more for the kids to watch their cartoons).
I did watch a few movies on Netflix/Stan yesterday and found the sound to be a little lacking when I do watch TV, though. I thought, maybe the soundbar game has improved since I last considered getting one 5 years ago. My computer speakers are underutilised at the moment, since I have a newborn and playing things at louder volumes isn't a thing anymore. I'm wondering if I should move my speaker setup to the TV and getting the Edifiers for my PC. The usage split is 90% PC and 10% TV, so it feels wasted. PC speakers are JBL LSR305 + Audiolab M-DAC.

Edit: Watching the Z Reviews guy now. He's hilarious and really selling it to me! Thanks for the mention. I think it's going to lead me towards a purchase and a slightly unhappy wife.

    • Still need a receiver though.

      • Not for newer tv as these have Bluetooth..

  • +1

Great find OP. I was this close to buying them after moving my JBL LSR310 & LSR308 to my TV. I have used Edifier way back in the day and they were really up and coming against the established brands like Logitech at the time. Great to see they have legs to stand on given the move to smart and soundbars of the world. Promised me this year no more sound gear after getting a pricey USB DAC amp T.T I can see ppl considering this for ease of convenience.

  • Free shipping via AusPost with no tracking? ……no thanks!!

    • +1

They used StarTrack for mine. The box (including the original box) was banged up and ripped it’s like a damage by a forklift’s fork. Luckily, the content was fine.

      • Not surprised. The delivery drivers throw the freight around like footballs when loading their trucks/vans at the depot. I know because I was a PUD Supervisor at Toll Global Express at Sydney's Eastern Creek depot.

        • There was a comment on a Dell monitor post where a member finally received a long awaited monitor delivery from StarTrack but only to find a smashed screen upon box opening. I also remember I saw a video showing people kicking and throwing parcels at a delivery depot (maybe it was Toll) while chuckling with their peers.

These speakers with the sub are quite heavy so I don’t know how they can throw them around probably they bang them hard on the floor and roll them around with a forklift!

          • @FrugalNotStingy: If they're packages in plastic air bags instead of hard foam, I'll flip

            • @dbmitch: In all the reviews I've seen, they're pretty well padded with a lot of hard foam. Even the box is in a slightly larger box. I actually saw a few reviews saying there's so much foam they took a star off for the enviroment.

              • @Bananawon: Yea, if it wasn’t for the styrofoam, the subwoofer would have been damaged. I’ve read that review complaining about the excessive packaging too, I was just thinking today, if the packaging only consist of cardboard like the review recommended then my set would be screwed.

Have you received your set by Christmas btw?

                • @FrugalNotStingy: I haven't gotten it yet. I ordered on the 22nd and was hoping to get it before the long weekend seeing everyone else got there's. I live in a pretty rural town though so it was to be expected

                • @FrugalNotStingy: Excessive packaging sounds like a feature, not a complaint.

  • has anyone compared this to microlab/audioengine? thank you

  • Coupon code still works but I think I snagged the last one

    • Has your dispatched? Email from them, saying it from third party warehouse and may take up to 5 business days to them to ship it.

      • I've only received the confirmation email at this point, will give them a few days before chucking them an email

      • And it turned up this afternoon. Quite happy with it so far

        • Yeah, Looking forward to it. Expected to arrive today.

        • The bass is not as strong as I had hoped but for the price, it’s quite OK.
