Asus ROG Strix G512 15.6 240hz Laptop (512GB) RTX 2070 Intel Core i7-10750H $1998 ($100 Cashback via Redemption) @ JB Hi-Fi

500

Amazing price on a solid laptop, never seen a 2070 with a 240hz panel of this quality for cheap, personally probably going to hold off myself since I was looking for a 17inch and Ryzen 4800h as the 10750h runs a bit hot for my liking.

Great review, the key is liquid metal instead of thermal paste because these intel processors RUN HOT and thermal throttle to shit otherwise

    • Thanks !!!

    • says no thorttling but the amazon reviews say it throttles hard =/

I owned this laptop for a year.

Purchased the 9th gen version last year for $2700 and sold it second hand for $2500 a couple month's ago.

Great specs on paper although throttled hard, and for some reason had crash issues on it unlike my 4yo PC with certain gaming titles. Also on my model the touchpad was faulty and seemed to be a common issue, not sure if they fixed this on the 10th gen.

Decent price although wouldn't completely recommend it. Purchased a MacBook Pro 16 and haven't looked back, expensive although I can easily see it being a powerhouse laptop for 5+ years, I'm not an Apple fan since I prefer the pixel phones although they sure do know how to make a great laptop. Everything from the keyboard, touchpad to retina display, wouldn't go back to a windows laptop, especially knowing how much they will slow down over the years.

I'm looking at replacing my Macbook Pro 2018 to a gaming laptop. I couldn't agree enough about Apple laptop builds - absolutely amazing, however, I currently play LoL and although it does it well my issue is that there aren't many games on Mac compared to Windows

Tbh I run a 4yo Windows PC with a 1060 and does enough to run most games at medium settings, and have the MacBook for everything else. Personally id prefer a budget PC for gaming and then a 1.5k MacBook (even the new ones 10% off at JB look good) for everything else, obviously depending on what you need.

  • 2k…for a laptop with a 2070 card? Yeah nah…

What would you suggest is a good deal with a good quality GPU?

    • I presume you're either saying this can't be true because it's too cheap, or you think it will throttle too hard because it is pretty darn cheap.

Is this deal any good? looking to buy a desktop if anyone has any suggestions or seen any better deals.. thanks

  • bought.. hopefully runs well

    • Keen to hear your thoughts after you've had a play!

    • So, what are your thoughts on it after a few days?

      • The lights have grown on me.. the screen is so clear, although this is coming from someone who has always had budget monitors (non-gaming). I have BF5 and this runs great on high graphics.

It makes a lot of fan noise when running games but i dont think you will find a gaming laptop that wont except razer blade.

Also can run silent for just doing basic productivity youtube web browsing.

        • Kinda regret the purchase now that asus released their laptop with better AMD CPU and RTX3000 series.. ahwell wouldnt be at this pricepoint
