        For the same price, wouldn't it make more sense to get a 55" C9?

        C9 is OLED, larger (but supports VESA so you can get a different stand if space is an issue) and still has HDMI 2.1 with Gsync.

        One of my monitors is ultrawide, but honestly, it's not so great. You don't get as much vertical space, while still using a large amount of horizontal space and many games lack proper support for ultrawide. The aspect ratio is far more of a negative than a positive, unless you only play racing games.

        I just don't get why at this price point, you wouldn't go for a larger screen and OLED when the cost is the same. If RGB is that important, something like Hue Sync would be even better.

          As much as I love OLEDs, i'd be hesitent to use one for a destop where I have mostly static visuals where burn in is a liekly issue without care, and people dont want to baby sit a monitor.

          This monitor is 1600px tall, its as much vertical space as you're going to get without going full 4K (and the height you get with that), it'll have more vertical space than your typical ultrawides

          a 55" TV is a lower pixel density and a typcial monitor, prepare to have a deep desk or sit 1m back, 4K monitor shoudlnt be bigger than 48" or youll see pixels

          A C9 is also like twice the price?

            @Tigerhacker: Burn in shouldn't be an issue if you have power saving mode on, since it'll turn the display off when there's a constant static screen. I do understand your concern though, and look forward to OLED being replaced down the line with microled, but for now OLED looks far better than IPS for gaming.

            LG is bringing their 48" range to Australia, which should be good to see.

            Good point regarding the price, I bought mine nearly a year ago and didn't realise they'd gone up in price. Hopefully things should settle down a bit soon, new models of LG come out around Feb, then they clear out the previous model, which should mean good prices on the CX at the same price as this monitor.

          Because a large screen on a standard desktop is an ergonomic nightmare.

          If your standard desk is 60-70cm deep, then you'd need something like 90cm deep desk for a CX48 and a 110cm deep for CX55.

          Moreover, the mid point of the screen will be higher than your average head height, where typically you want it a few inches below your head height (you want your eyes lined up with the top 1/3rd 1/4 of the screen).

          So ideally, you have the ability to adjust your working surface (kb/m) independently of your screen… something like 2 standing desks, one for your kb/m and one for the screen.

          Which is a bit too much for most people.

          Otherwise enjoy having a screen that's too big, too in your face, where you can see the pixels, but it's too big for you to see properly without turning your neck around.

              However, acting like that your preferred solution is the only logical or reasonable choice will make you ponder frequently at why things are so 'dumb'.

          I game on an LG C9 and don't get me wrong it is amazing but I still wish I had that "sit as desk" experience and that aspect ratio. Would LOVE one of these.

      Need to be aware of what you video card can do.
      Also no affordable TV's have display ports, which only means 60hz max output.

        HDMI isn't limited to 60hz, it's limited to 120hz with HDMI 2.1.

        TVs with HDMI 2.1 are as affordable as this monitor as seen here

          HDMI 1.4 can do 144hz if the screen supports it. Everybody buying into 2.1 for 120hz is getting sucked into Sony's marketing.

          I run 144hz off 2.0. Just not at 4k which I wouldn't be able to run off my computer anyway.

      Watching a TV up close will give you a headache.
      There’s alot more radiation and the refresh rates isn’t high enough.
      Trust me I’ve tried it.

    Price, OK.
    Quality, terrible.

    I was big fan of Alienware, spent almost 5k on my current Alienware laptop, motherboard stopped working in six months. A major faulty found on my AW34DW20 in a week. There are 2-3 issues found my laptop, haven't contacted their service.

    I was told these hi-end monitors dispatch from Singapore, it takes LONG time to deliver or replace as less flight nowadays.

      I have my fourth AW34DW20 replacement sitting in my hallway. Going to set it up tomorrow.

      The last three panels have had color temp issues (half the screen tinted blue/red).

      This has been going on since last October when they had the $144x sale. Big disappointment so far.

      If this fourth monitor has the same problem then I'm going refund and back on the market for a 34" widescreen.

      I really hope Dell are using better panels in their 38".

        They sent me a refurbished AW34DW20 when I found the faulty in a week. Lost my patience. end up got refund.

        Personally, I won't buy any Alienware stuff.

          They've been good with sending me new replacements. I really can't fault Dell support, it's as good as I'd hoped it'd be.

          Trouble is they keep sending me faulty panels. Given this has spanned three going on four months now, they're from different batches.

          Given Dell AU don't even sell the AW34 on their website anymore, I'm tempted to say these last few batches are duds.

              @OSJPAPA: I had to send support photos of the issue. I used the built-in white test, Google homepage and Gmail as examples.

              They sent a replacement monitor for the original one I had. That had the same issue so I sent both back for a refund (support told me they only send one replacement out).

              I really liked the monitor outside of the panel issue. At that time they were running a second sale at the same price so I purchased another one.

              I'm going to plug the replacement in for that today. If that has the same issue (I'm dreading it will) then they both go back for a refund and I'll probably go with LG.

              To Dell's credit none of this has cost me anything outside of the purchase. I've been able to use one of the monitors during the whole process so haven't had any downtime.

                  I'll see if it gets any better over the weekend otherwise I'm out.

      Received my Alienware on the 24th, paid on the 19th from Hong Kong. Just purchased a Aw2721d to compliment the setup and it's being dispatched from NSW (I'm in WA) it was actually quicker to get the PC from Hong Kong than it will be to get the monitor from Sydney (eta is the 6th Jan) according to Startrack

    Amazing monitor, no regrets for mine. Returned a Samsung CRG9 and got this instead. IPS and 1600 vertical resolution makes a huge difference. Also RGB is sick

    Had one of this and got some colour problems after rendering as i not only game but also do photo/video editing on it. It was annoying that I returned mine and got refunded with no problems. Bought x2 34 inch Xiaomi ultrawides from the Kmart deal and find it much better for my own use. Yes, the design not as much. But for more than half the price and productivity i have on it? Hell yeah.

    nice monitor but i have a samsung 35 inch and it's great. No point going up just 3 inches. I'm on the lookout for a 49incher but theres nothing above 100mhz with at least 3440x1440 that does usb- c charging. Gotta wait. Even the Samsung odyssey doesn't have usb-c
