How does this compare to the A129 Plus Duo version? Is it worth the extra cash?
    https://www.viofo.com/en/home/197-a129-plus-duo-dual-channel…

    • A129 Pro Duo is 4K Front Camera , 1080P (FHD) Rear

A129 Plus DUO is 2K Front Camera , 1080P (FHD) Rear

A129 Duo is 1080P Front and Rear

You get what you pay for , see HERE

Thanks for that, I personally think the A129 Plus Duo is the sweetspot, but don't have any deal on atm :(.

        • I was thinking the same actually. I'm currently on A118 (also HD) and after seeing some sample footage of 2k and 4k, I feel like that would be a worthwhile upgrade. I'm going to wait for a deal on the Duo (or Pro)

          • +1

@doznbay: Agreed, after watching a few sample footage of 2k vs the rest, I think 2k will be the better option. Finger cross for a good deal soon!

  • Dashcam mostly for hit and run.

    What’s the gps feature for?

So insurance can tell how fast you were traveling so they can decide whether or not you were speeding if you are involved in an accident. also may be used as evidence in defense of yourself amidst a speeding allegation.

Also helpful for a car owner to track where your car is if it is stolen in real-time via app , similar to how this owner got his car back after some junkie stole his car.

I would unplug/ turn off dash cam on stolen vehicle …

  • How much roughly to hire someone for installation in Mazda 3?
What other kits is recommend for installation?

    • Would like to know too, Sydney Newcastle Central Coast, 2013 M3.

    • I have the A118 currently hardwired (to a 7.5 fuse & powers off when the engine is off).

I did some digging to see how you connect the HK3 hardwire kit so there's the ACC always on - and I got confused in where to find a fuse that's actually always on (that is in the same spot as one that turns off when the engine is off). So I'm not sure I'd be able to access the parking mode…

If you find out anything, please let me know!

      • There is no way I am touching the wires in my car.
I have zero knowledge and am sure to stuff something up, and my wife will have something to complain about in the next 3 years! :)

“Didn’t I tell you to get a professional to do it? Now it’s going to cost more to fix!!”

        • Haha fair enough. I don't know much about this stuff but saw a guide on YouTube and matched my car so it worked out fine. Good luck finding someone who can install it!

        • +1

You don't touch any wires in the car. You literally unplug a fuse and attach another one that holds 2. 1 orginal and 1 to the dash cam. 30min install a pro will charge $150+ for

  • Thanks OP. Just placed the order with AU$137. Hopefully I will receive it by Chinese New Year. Otherwise it will take even longer. 🤞

  • clearly i did something wrong (my first USD banggood/paypal order)
it came out as $137.91 AUD on the BG order and paypal pages, but my mastercard shows it as $147.80 on the statement page…. is that my bank being super cheeky with USD to AUD conversions?

    • i re-ordered and left the USD out of it altogether, and still comes in exactly the same 2 values shown.. weird

      • Probably it’s Paypal as it automatically converts to aud and charges your card. I chose usd in BG, paid with USD in Paypal and let my 28Degrees did the conversion. It came out exactly as in title AUD$135.78

        • weirdly, both the $147.80 PayPal charges disappeared before Tues morning … and nothing was listed at all until this morning, and now shows correct $137.91 payment. I have not seen that before with any other sorts of paypal transactions. Seems to have worked itself out in the end though…!

  • Just pulled the trigger. Paypal charged 137.91AUD for me as-well. Thanks OP. Good deal I suppose.

    Stay away from Banggood guys!
I had bad experiences with them. Delay, poor customer service. And you be waiting for your purchase to arrive forever.

  • +1

Do I need to buy anything else with this?

    • you can use as is. But if you want parking mode then you need an hk3 hardwire kit. if you just want a clean install can use a normal generic hardwire kit which can tap into the fuse for accessory (ie, powers on and off with the car).

My viofo hk3 hardwire kit was faulty which seems to be a common issue. YMMV.

Bought a new hardwire kit and see how that goes.

      • Can you link us to a good hk3 kit we should buy to have parking mode?

        Thanks

  • +2

Great deal until you receive a faulty unit from an overseas seller (bangbad). It’s potluck. Who is going to get the faulty unit?

    • isn't paypal protect you for 180 days?

  • anyone else struggling to get through the phone number validation? shit is ridiculous, I've tried with leading 0 and without it, since the have a country code in front…

  • +1

At what point do these posts need an associated tag so I can filter them out. You're taking "requests" for deals, and asking the "rep" for discount codes…. Sounds like you know them, and it's super easy to tick the box.

  • Using PayPal linked to NAB direct debit

    $104.22 USD = $141.40 AUD (PayPal's conversion rate: 1 AUD = 0.73704 USD)

  • Coming up as $114.64USD (Excluding Insurance), after applying coupon.

  • Cheers OP, picked one of these up. I've been watching them on eBay for a while.

  • I bought the a129 plus duo as part of black friday deals.

Installed with hardwire kit two weeks ago, and once fully installed, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the image.

Unfortunately after about 5 days the GPS module failed and I was getting the error of NO GPS.

Fast forward a couple of days and now I have an error with the camera itself, the screen just shows a backlit black screen. Can't access any menus, hard reset doesn't work, updating firmware does nothing.

VIOFO support has not yet responded to any of my messages or emails. Granted it is the holiday season but surely there should be some level of support available.

    • That's odd. Power it with the 12v included and not the hwk. Also menus can't be accessed while it's recording

      • Tried to power it up over PC, cigarette lighter etc etc. Its rooted.

  • Does it have a reversing camera feature or is that a different device?

  • I guess so banggood support is not best so chances if you end up with lemon is you might have to eat it ☺️☺️

  • Anyone knows if this is difficult to install?

    • +1

Very easy to install. Takes about 20-30 mins to run the cable from front to rear for both devices. The kit comes with a trimming tool to enable you to wire the cables inside the trims of the vehicle. I'd advise you to look up video tutorials on installation but for the most part it's fairly straightforward.

      • Thanks Champ

    • Theoretically easy to install but will depend on make and model of your car. It was a PITA for me routing the USB from front to rear on an F56 mini because I had to route through the bottom passenger trim. Would have been easier routing from headliner but there's an airbag so rather not have the cable anywhere near there.

      • It really depends on cars…
I have a 2020 Mazda 3, it was so difficult to find ACC fuse. I had to test every single fuse end up only one fuse can be used and it was in engine bay, even made the installation harder…

        • -1

Try getting an OBD2 dashcam power kit. No splicing of wires simply plug and play for constant monitoring and low power cut off. Many are cheaper than hardwire kits as well

  • spewing. just paid $180 a few days ago on banggood :|

Does anyone ever get Banggood delivery?

I ordered twice and none arrive…

    Stay away since

    • +1

Ordered one on 19th Dec, arrived today. Fairly fast delivery this time even due to Christmas and New Year. Other products I ordered from them mainly take about 1 month to arrive.

    • Banggood use Fastway now changed name to Aramex? for deliveries in Oz and they have gone from bad to worse.
Check out the feedback on WP and Product Review, very bad.
I get things from Aliexpress in half the time even with free shipping.
Wish Banggood would change carrier here.

      • I agree… my amazon orders were sent by fastway/aramex as well… I ordered before Christmas and believe it or not… I haven't got them yet… I wonder if amazon compensate for late delivery…

    • I checked my mail on Friday they delivered a dashcam but just not my dashcam.

I got a notification iirc that there was a problem delivering my package, grandparents were there the whole day too.

Package was addressed to someone else, gave the person on the package a buzz (same suburb) to no pickup, thought I'd just contact fastway/aramex instead

Call on the weekend to Fastway/Aramex, no dice of course

Call on Monday yesterday, no call centre, just some crappy whatsapp bot (and maybe facebook bot) that takes like 2-3 hours to get back to you, whatsapp guy was like if your package is not delivered, use a different online enquiry form on the website, there's a 2-3 business day turnaround.

Anyway got home on Monday, dashcam in my mailbox now addressed to me, rang phone number on the 1st package again and sorted it out together, picked up from my address.

  • Do not do not buy this !!
I lost all my money patience and installed Blackvue cause I couldn’t take the crap from Viofo.
If you have a problem with your unit only then you will know how bad it is .. how intolerable the pain is !
Dane the one and only from China Viofo support will flick back anything at you. It’s all your fault. It’s either your fault of not able to hardwire the camera then it’s the fuse tabs or the memory card or it’s your car !
Be ready to throw out your money if you encounter any issues.

    Best of luck

    • if you have issues with installation better ask people that succeded… many above have happy ending stories

  • Thanks OP, got one a few days ago for my new Corolla Hybrid

  • Is it possible to somehow track their tracking number anywhere else apart from their app that is just showing as shipped? Tried Fastway and Auspost but tracking number is not working.

    • Try Track17

      • Thx
Tried but also getting not found. Very suspicious

        • Looks like it's trackable via Fastway tracking now. Seems it's arrived to Sydney

  • I received a message on the weekend that it was out of stock. Banggood app days shipping before january 14. Now i see above they use Fastway? Now i know why there are reports of people not receiving their order.

  • I ordered on 4th Jan and received today 13/1 .. incredibly quick.

  • I got a msg that mine had problems being delivered, but there was one in my mailbox

Anyway seems like a mixup by fastway

Ryan from Doncaster if you're browsing OzBargain, hello (I've rang you once too, but didn't leave a voice message)

  • I just saw it's in Sydney! Yay. However, it's being sent via Fastway (Aramex) ARRRGH. It will take longer to get to Newcastle ,than it took from China to Sydney.

  • My package said delivered on Tuesday but I received nothing. I was home all day and have a door camera and no sign of delivery. I contacted Banggood and they basically told me that they aren't liable and told me to contact the delivery courier. The problem is I don't know who the courier in Australia was. On Banggood it only says delivery via Au Mail Direct. I used the tracking number on 17track.net and shows China Post. I also tried to use my tracking number on Fastway and Auspost websites but tracking number was invalid on both sites. The delivery was to Canberra, can anybody tell me who delivered there package?

    • Hopefully you used PayPal. Just open a dispute. Use 17track.com or parcelsapp.com to find who delivered

      • +2

False alarm, I got it delivered by Aus post today. The tracking is completely wrong, it's still saying it was delivered on Tuesday.

  • Received mine yesterday, all seems fine, it came with gps module. Now to spare the time to install…

  • OP, please see if you could do another run of this deal. Would be appreciated.

    • +2

Already got a few messages requesting another deal, shall try and organise it for the second week of February. It's just a matter of whether they have enough stock on hand, so will contact rep this week and ask if it's possible.

      • Great, cheers mate.

      • hey mate, any update?

        • +2

Yeah, new coupon will be ready on 10th of Feb.

  • Can someone please advise me which are the fuse taps for Ford Mondeo MK4? Would these work? https://www.jaycar.com.au/double-mini-blade-fuse-socket-wire… Thank you.
