Has anyone had any luck running 12V devices off these with a separate adapter by any chance?

Edit: this looks like it would do the job.

    • That's one expensive adaptor.

      • +2

Yeah. You can get a three pack for $5 less: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B084YQ8FMT

That said neither one mentions the max loads or wire thickness which I hate.

        • WISH THEY BROIGH MORE 4000A
HAD TO SETTLE FOR 2000A FROM LAST DEAL, GOOD UBIT SO FAR

    • +1

I had 1500A and it comes with the adapter but the output on the unit is 15V, i am worried about burning the device with 12V

      • +1

Though it is a GOOLOO product and says it's for 12V devices. Maybe it only draws 12V from the 15V port? I'm not sure..

      • Any "car rated" stuff will be fine (tyre pump, eskie, phone charge etc) as the running voltage for cars is 14.3- 14.7V (typically, vaguely) unless it's an old landcruiser where I've measured 17v often enough…
Tyre pumps etc mostly say have car running when using them.

      • Better to get the 1500A if you need the adapter

      • Yeah, be careful as I blew a soldered in fuse on a small 12V/240V inverter as it put out 15V.

My old Suaoki's 12 V ( variable choices 5V-19V ) worked well with same adaptor as above link ( got it cheaper on sale ).

    • I ordered the 4000A and this adaptor just in case. When it arrives I will try to make an adaptor using a DC plug and a car socket. Will update how it go

    • Yeah i too would be interested to see how long it would keep running a 40L waeco for?

    • Sure have - we run our boat sounder off its little brother and it works great!!! couple of bucks for the correct adapter, some heat shrink and 2 mins soldering. Done

    • I just received my 4000A and it does come with the cigarette adaptor. Not sure about the 2000A

  • Has anyone had this with a swollen battery? I used it 5 times and on the last time to start up a completely flat battery and it takes few times to finally start the car but the unit cover popped up and when I try to close it and realised the battery is swelling?

    • +2

No - I have this item as well. Not used to start a car yet, but I didn't have it my battery would be fated to fail for sure.
But this would be warranty, depending on how long you have had it.
Interested to hear how the supplier reacts to warranty inquiry.

      • I only had it for 3 months and I can't send it back as post office not accepting with swollen battery.

        • Not surprising, its a LiPo - Fully charged LiPos plus heat (e.g. leaving in a hot car over summer just in case) will cause it (and any other LIPo pack) to swell.

          • @BargainKen: But was it suppose to be using it like this?

            • @SnoozeAndLose: One would reasonably assume so given its form factor/portability however this will cause a LiPo pack to swell (any lipo pack for that matter). Not sure what their warranty policy is on it but I think ACL would cover this anyway.

              • @BargainKen: The manual specifically states not to leave it in the car of the car will get hot.

      • Mine did not hold charge after using it for 2 months. Sent email to supplier through amazon and was given the choice of either a full refund or replacement. Chose the replacement route without the need to send back the defective item.

        • How did you prove it did not hold charge?

          • @MuddyClear: Didn't have to provide evidence. Just explained what happened in detail.

    • Did you make sure to allow some time between jump starts?

      • +2

the last time require 3 jump start and I charge it for 5 mins before retry

        • Sounds like you used it within normal safe operating range.

I would make a warranty claim after explaining the postage/swelling issue and send a photo for proof.

Good luck and if you can rapport back so we can all learn.

  • Why is this item 630g whilst the 1500A version is 1.02kg?
    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0832H886J

    • +1

1.02KG may be including all accessory, Amazon description is hit and miss

      • Yeah, this battery alone would weigh 630g at least for sure.

    • +1

My 1500A is 514g and the 2000A is 626g for just the unit.

  • Thx, picked up one for my next trip

  • Do they work on Landcruiser LC200?,, LC 200 have 2x12V batteries can these 1.02 kgs devices can power 2 battery 4wd? did anyone try?

    • +1

You should only need one good battery to start your Landcruiser normally and this when charged ( and your car battery is not

completely flat ) should do the job. If you have problems, disconnect the second battery till the car is running.

      • Thanks,, but hard to know which one is good or bad,, maybe both bad. not sure how good these units can crank v8.

  • +2

There's also a 4000A version for those who want the extreme version for $150 - from what I can tell its basically a 27000mAh powerbank with 4000A peak jumpstart

https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07TDH3Y5M/ - code shows as MIEYUVUA

I think the 2000A variant is enough thou for me, so I went with that.

    • Is this 2000A a newer product?

      • I got the 2000A about 6 months ago, only saw this one from last deal so think this one is newer.

    • +1

Thanks for the link. Grabbed a 4000A, $70 off is decent

      • +1

Aren't they clever at tempting people to upgrade to more powerfull model as time goes on.

I am tempted to get this new 4000A model now lol.

        • +1

Yeh I'm sucker for a slightly better model.
Probably has a very little real world difference, but, 4000A is better than 2000 haha

          • @Belarkay182: I thought about it for few minutes and definately holding off as I don't have a large enough engine myself

and still have enough batteries to last some time. I mainly use these for other people anyway ( although I used

the 1500A Gooloo on my own car succesfully last week ).

            • +1

@ozhunter68: I have a few camping trips coming up and have no charging batteries at all, so I can justify getting this one.

I've left my ute's stereo on overnight before which was a nightmare the next day. Either battery, they're very handy to have under the car seat

              • @Belarkay182: Sure, when going camping you definately need more than one back starting battery or power bank

unless your running a dual battery set up and properly managed. Especially if you listen to your car/custom

stereo for hours. I have upgrade twice in 5 years of owning these jump start batteries, so the first and oldest I

leave home as a back up ( a Suaoki with air compressor kit ),and second Gooloo 1500A as good as new I leave in car under

seat. My newest third Gooloo 2000A I leave at home in garage ready for a trip.

    • I ordered the 2000 but ended up canceling it for the 4000 instead. I go camping quite a bit so the extra battery is worth it for me

  • Bought one it will be here tomorrow. Hope it is as good as the reviews say!

    • These are great at this price, but with any type of battery there will always be a small % failure rate, even with top brands.

      • +1

Agreed nothing in life is 100%. It will be primarily for my high country trips /camping or long trips away from civilisation and reception.

  • Which one has newer technology the 2000A or 4000A? I bought the 2000A a while back.

The 2000A has QC 3.0 what does the 4000A have

    • +1

      Think they're both the same QC3/USBPD (15W).

    • They even come with a Qualcomm fast wall charger

      Yes QC3.0.

      Got my 4000A yesterday..

  • I think I’ll wait till it drops to all time low again $85.54…

  • Excellent product. Saved my arse multiple times

  • Bought that one after a taxi driver refuses to help me jump start the car. It saved me countless time until I decided to change my car battery. Can hold charge whole summer and start the car (2.4 gasoline) smoothly.

  • Amazon just shipped mine for $109 from the previous deal =( can I get $10 back?

    • +1

What does this have to do with the value of this deal?

    • How bloody random?

Are you going to go around post this non-sense on every single Amazon AU deal here?

  • +1

Just received the unit, quality is good, fit and finish is nice, also comes with the 12v cig attachment which is nice.

    • Yours came with a 12v cigarette adapter? That's pretty odd, mine didn't :(

      • I was surprised myself since it wasn't specified or shown on the pictures. Yup a 12v cig adapter, can easily run fridge, fan, lights etc. It really looks like a good unit for the price.

      • Mine didn't either.
I guess I can't complain since it is not in the description or the included package manifest.

        • +2

I guess I am a really lucky! I was surprised since it says, Sold separately cleverly.

  • I've recently been looking at portable jump starters. The Gooloo 1500A/2000A appears to be an OzB favourite. However, I've found this brand and model RooBoost 1500A Pro (model RB-pro1500) to be better value in my opinion. What makes this model stand out are these extra features:

    • Comes with a cigarette lighter socket to re-charge the jump starter while driving
    • Built-in voltmeter so you can check your battery health before even jump starting
    • Digital display for more information and accurate display of the battery charge status and such
    • Wireless charging of compatible devices such as iphone 8+ (the RooBoost 2000A does not have this feature; perhaps it's a non pro version and is not available yet?)
    • Extended clamp cables
    • 24 months warranty

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Jump-starter-battery-1500A-Power…

Eager to to find out what peoples thoughts and opinions on this RooBoost

    • Biggest PRO would be:

Built-in voltmeter so you can check your battery health before even jump starting

And the major CON is the low capacity:

      16000mAh (59.2.6Wh)

I guess I will stick with GOOLOO, and invest in a proper multimeter.

      • -1

The Rooboost 2000A has 20000mah, so no more major CON

        • -1

The link you posted above points to the 1500A model whose capacity is 16000 mAh (as stated under specifications).
I couldn't find the listing for the 2000A model.

          • -2

@DoctorCalculon: The Rooboost 2000A was briefly mentioned only. I’m sure if you’re interested in it you can easily find the listing on EBay/Amazon. Again, no more major con for you…

            • -1

@MuddyClear: The reason you didn't link to the RB 2000A model is that it is out of stock, and currently not on sale either.
              https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Jump-Starter-2000A-Portable-12-V…

I think it is clearly safe to stick with GOOLOO.

              • -1

                @DoctorCalculon:

The reason you didn't link to the RB 2000A model is that it is out of stock

                How presumptuous of you.

I think it is clearly safe to stick with GOOLOO.

Being out of stock is another CON? Must be very popular then…

                • -1

                  @MuddyClear:

Being out of stock is another CON? Must be very popular then

Yes, they are so popular they have only sold 68 units before they ran out of stock. 😝

                  • -1

                    @DoctorCalculon:

                    68 units…

Actually more units will sell as it gets more and more popular.

    • +1

On specs it sounds good but if you watch the Project Farm review of the jump starters, not all 2000A jump starters perform the same.
I'll rather stick to what has been tested to be good rather than just specs - the jump start amp can easily be over inflated just like lumens on no name brand flashlights.

      • -1

Project Farm review of the jump starters

GP2000 won the value for money (i.e. OzBargain) award in that review.
The NOCO model tested was the best in terms of longer cranking duration.
