SoundHound ∞ Now FREE; Usually $7.49 [EUROPEAN iTunes Stores ONLY, Universal App]

310

The award-winning, and best music recognition & lyrics app in App Store is now FREE, down from $7.49!
I've had it since day one, and it beats any other app out there like it (I'm looking at you, Shazam). Midomi, the company behind SoundHound, are the first to have come up with the unique concept of music recognition and have the best algorithm, so they're the original and the best…

PLEASE NOTE: This is only available in EUROPEAN iTunes Stores. This fantastic step-by-step guide shows you how to create a free iTunes account for any country (I recommend the UK) – well worth it for promotions like this that come along.

N.B. This is for Soundhound (i.e. Soundhound Infinity), so please don't confuse it with the free one in the Australian App Store; this one is equivalent to the free Soundhound plus the $7.49 premium in-app upgrade.

Unlimited music recognition! With the world's fastest music recognition and exclusive singing search, SoundHound is instant music search and discovery.

Thanks! It is working in the AU Store now.

    • This app isn't actually in the Australian Store though.
      From my post:

When I use iTunes it says need to change to UK Store. But when I use my iPhone, it didn't prompt and I'm able to install it. I'm on i4S, so not JB'd.

Thx again for the deal ;)

        • That's weird - I get this while on my iPhone…
And there's definitely no SoundHound ∞ in the search results or even in iTunes link maker.
You sure you're signed into the Australian store? :P

          Yeh no worries, mate :)

        • Yes, I just did it on my mum's i4 and my wife's i4. Works fine and not JB'd.

        • +2

its not the Soundhound ∞ one that u get on your iphone. its the free one that has all the add's in it.

        • Yeh that's what I'm thinking too…

        • Yep, I got you now!!

        • But I said that from the start… :\

This isa good product, and I prefer it to Shazam, but both products have a fairly poor lag time before Australian music is added to their databases - usually several months.

One app that I've found very good is MusicID. Nowhere near as fancy, but generally hasn't missed any Australian music more than a few weeks old.

Given that I use these apps to identify music most of the time, MusicID is usually the first one I go to. Soundhound is definitely prettier and more fully featured though.

    MusicID link: http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/musicid/id358838909?mt=8

    • Sounds good - except for the price, especially considering there are other apps I could get which I'd use more…

  • it wont let me select none for Payment options, i have to enter cedit card details for a fake UK account in itunes….
    That SUCKS

    • Did you make sure you selected a free app to purchase before trying to sign up?

      • thanks. forgot about that step. app downloaded

just did this. followed the link to the tutorial and it worked perfectly to get me a free UK account. got the app. used it before and its great. nice find. thank you

    • No worried, buddy - thanks for commenting. :)

Awesome deal! Got Soundhound ∞ on my Android, and now (thanks to itsfree) I can get an UK account and put it on wifey's mobile too! Cheers a million mate!

    • Glad to help, buddy! :)

  • I'm curious in opening a US itunes account now… and possibly buying itunes credit off ebay…

    anyone tried this?

Or is apple really strict with US Itunes stuff (ie, your computer IP has to be from the States, etc….cbb going through a VPN and all that). Just wondering if there's an easier way :)

    • Nah it's as simple as creating an iTunes account and sourcing the gift cards (although I don't speak from personal experience - rather, my friends have done it before).

  • what the heck? I thought this was free? Or maybe I paid for it so long ago when it was named "Midomi"..?

    • +1

Yes SoundHound ∞ was indeed named Midomi at one stage. However, the Infinity version is no longer in the Australian (and US, oddly enough) App Store - they instead have the free version with an in-app upgrade which turns it into the Infinity version.

  • I just searched in my appstore. It works. Thanks.

    • If you got the one in the Australian App Store, you just got the free version rather than the full version mentioned here

  • I bought this for android, it's a reasonably good app for pop music, and a fair bit of less known stuff, it's not brilliant for remixes and classical music, as it usually will tell you the song, but get the remix wrong, or the performer wrong, but i suppose once you know what it actually is, it's trivial to find it thereafter.

Just wondering… is it legal to create an iTunes account for another country? And then download apps/music from the other country's store? Something doesn't quite seem right about it to me…

    • +2

      Well then don't do it…

    • -2

its not. well that's what i think

  • Its free for Windows Phone 7 as well.

  • hmmm… yesterday they wont let me create, got to final step…. message said to call them
today got through but didn't receive email verification…normally it was instant so not sure what happen to the UK?
    anyone got the same problem?

    • got the email this morning, that's a long wait just to verify.

  • +1

thank you for this!!. Well worth the fuss.

    • My pleasure :))
