Felix mobile, Endless data at speed up to 20m/s, $35/mth, also on vodafone

    • link mate?

      • Already posted on Ozb.

    • no 5G on felix

      • We tried Felix for the ms and it worked fine. Didnt even notice a difference. Would still be on it if didnt get a slightly better deal with an amaysim promo.

        • Do you have link for the amaysim deal?

      • Felix is capped at 20/20 anyway.

I use 2 sims now , 1 felix and one boost ($150 PA plan with 80gb).

I use boost for calls and failover data when Vodafone signal is bad. From what I've seen (Melbourne in the suburbs), outdoor speeds are great. Indoor speeds are hit and miss, sometimes as low as 1/1.

Felix I use for hotspotting when I'm out on the road for work and as a failover for NBN at home (I have an access point connect to my phone's hotspot and my main router).

I had considered using it as an NBN replacement in entirety which I may do eventually considering the price difference. However if I did, I'd mount a phone in an appropriate location where I get full signal, perhaps outdoor, always on charge with the hotspot systematically always turned on.

    • Link please!

  • Good deal, probably can be used to replace NBN, which is up and down in my area.

  • infinite data

What is infinite data? A layman may think that it means unlimited data.

    Synonyms & Antonyms for infinite
    Synonyms: Adjective

bottomless, boundless, endless, fathomless, horizonless, illimitable, immeasurable, immensurable, indefinite, limitless, measureless, unbounded, unfathomable, unlimited

    • it's quite explicitly defined as being infinite data beyond the usage cap, speed limited to 2, 10 or 25mbps depending on the plan…

      • -1

        2Mbps is 172.8GB / 24hr and 25Mbps is 2.1TB / 24hr at full speed without any overhead.

        • +2

Are you complaining that the marketing people chose the term infinite to refer to the amount of data that you can use above the included cap at the clearly stated maximum speeds? You're complaining about $60 a month for 500gb full speed + 60tb at 25Mbps?

@ajhutton: The ACCC doesn't like it when telco mislead their customers.

            https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/telcos-on-notice-about….

Earlier this year the ACCC began investigating Optus, Vodafone and Telstra’s use of the term ‘unlimited’ to promote mobile data plans, concurrent with private litigation brought by Optus against Telstra in the Federal Court.

Between March and June 2018, Optus, Vodafone and Telstra advertised mobile data plans with a headline claim of ‘unlimited’ mobile data, but the services had speed caps imposed on particular uses or after a certain data threshold was reached (among other limitations):

        • If you want a real shock to the system go look up acceptable use policies

        • Edit. 172.8Gb and 2.1Tb.

    • And a laywoman.

  • Thoughts please?
I signed up to the previous 500gb deal for $55 but the limited speed is 10mbs. Is it worth the extra $5 per month is get the limited speed to 25mbs.

    • +1

Do you find it too slow? If so, yes, it is worth the upgrade.

      • son does. amazing how big games are these days.

        • I think it also depends on your router, I used the Asus ac68u back to the day we had vividwireless at 12.1Mbps max. We still can view Netflix HD on 3 devices same time.

  • When does this deal revert back to $120pm?

    • According to the site only 12 months
Last year I got the $55 one which again was 12 months
When I added moto for. $1 per month for 24 months they said it will go for 24 months.
I happy with that as I get 50mbps unlike hel$tra I only get 1.5 mb. So first try with a prepaid card but saying that this plan is month to month so cancel after one month if it is no good

  • Just upgrade my plan to $65 a month for 200GB and 10Mbps cap .. anyone know how can I get that BYO plan? I use change my plan in my Vodafone and it gave me $120 per month not the half price.

    • You'll have to call them and pretty much ask if you can be moved but if you've only just changed within the last month, you will have to wait until the new billing cycle.

Dont bother changing it on the app or on the web as it will not work; these offers are for new customers so it wont show up.

Otherwise, wait until you get offered to swap to the plan or whatever they feel like giving you as a few here have had discounts offered to them on the app or on the MyVF portal.

  • Has anyone put this into a modem and used it for home internet?
