Original Coupon Deal

This probably feels like more of a OzCurrentLowestPriceButNotYetASuperBargain post, but anyway… All prices include shipping, which is a good advantage over some other competitors' similar prices.

While intel CPU pricing is currently more competitive than AMD Ryzens, however, do factor in the overall platform cost (so including the motherboard too) for your personal situation to see which is better value for you.

The intel CPUs may also be eligible for bonus games as per intel's current promotion:

MSI Z490-A PRO Motherboard for INTEL LGA1200 (BIOS versions from 7C75v283 support 11th Gen processors and Resizable BAR)
.$242.10 (cheaper at FutuOnline below)
Same as previous deal, and I'm aware the Qty is only 9 (<20 as posting guides), happy to take it off the title, but the other products are still valid, so it seems to be harmless just to list for awareness. Speaking of awareness, the motherboard is actually cheaper at FutuOnline eBay for $233.10 using the same code, but there's only Qty5 in stock now showing more than 10 available in stock.

While there seems to be tips of CPU stock level getting better, but motherboard stock levels are getting tighter (likely due to both shortage of manufacturing materials and bulkier to ship, and possibly other reasons. The upcoming lunar new year period likely won't help with supply levels in the short term too), just FYI.

    Insane value on the i7!

  • Is there still an offer for a $50 voucher for joining eBay plus? I've signed up to the trial period previously, but somehow clicked the wrong link and missed out. Is it targeted?

    • +1

Not sure, the deals from Sep and Aug last year don't seem to be working for me. Having said that, nothing stopping you from creating another ebay account for free trial lol

    • I got it roughly 2 weeks ago, they made it clear i was getting it

    • Hmmm, yeah it looks like I have an email from 23/1 with the "Sign up to Plus & enjoy a $50 voucher" subject line. But when I click the link, it wants payment details immediately and gives no indication that I will receive it. Second account may be the way to go ;)

      • I had the same email from ebay, click on that link signup and pay. Voucher of $50 appear in account immediately. Note: voucher can not be used the same time as other voucher code.
ie: $50 voucher can not stack up with PLUSFY10 or any other voucher code

  • is it easy to change it on the lenovo V520S small desktop? currently i have a i7-7700, thinking about go i5-10400F.

the desktop is still super fast as of today running Adobe suite.

    • +1

are you thinking of dropping the i5-10400f into the V520S motherboard? I doubt they are compatible, same amount of pins but 9th and 10th gen intel don't work in 7th and 8th gen boards because of a power limitation I think, should probably look into that before you pull the trigger

    • +1

If you're running an i7-7700, that means you're on the LGA1151 socket, and it's pretty much at the end of the upgrade path for the Kaby Lake platform, considering your Lenovo computer is unlikely to be using a Z series chipset to support overclocking, nor does the form factor to be able to house a higher PSU of high wattage. You'll need a new motherboard for anything above the 7th gen.

  • I picked up a DS920+ for $809.10 delivered with ebay plus this morning

  • Upvoted for the thorough post, nice one.👏

    • Thanks =)

  • Oof, just ordered the 10600KF from that listing last week with a code that only brought it down to $330ish

Meh, when shit dies and you need it yesterday, do the best you can at the time & all that

    • Yea, when you need it, then you need it. Considering that, $15 difference isn't that bad.

  • Am I going to regret selling my b550+3700x and change it to z490+10600k? I don’t use my computer that much, occasional gaming, no rendering and I just want to have fun overclocking intel cpu again after i5 2500k I had before 3700x.

  • Is it worth upgrading to the i5 10400f from a Ryzen 3 2300x? (a320mk motherboard, 1660 super, 16gb ram)

    • +2

Depends on what your main usage for the system is. Is your current setup feeling sluggish for what you do/play?

Longer answer: The 10400F will be a good increase of performance over the 2300X, but how much of that significance translate to the experience upgrade depends on your usage of the system as well. If your current usage is just light office/email and light media consumption. Probably not too much different. It'll likely give a good boost for your gaming, unless if you are playing on 1080p 60Hz panel, then it probably won't make much of a difference. Do you find your current 2300X+1660Super set up sluggish for what you use it for? If you do find a slow down here and there and want to 'upgrade' for things to be snappier, then the next question will be, does that worth $439.20 to you (considering if you want to maintain a future upgrade path and went with the Z490 motherboard)?

      • +1

It's a considerable upgrade given you would need to consider the Z490 mobo as well as the 10400f, which I think isn't worthwhile on a 1660 Super.

I think the 3600 might be the better stopgap given next gen is going to be a new platform for both AMD and Intel, and you would be able to reuse the current mobo. I would expect the main improvement would be the stability of the frame rate.

  • 10900KF for $602 is also a good deal: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Intel-S1200-Core-i9-10900KF-3-70…

10600K for $323 is a good alternative for the OOS 10600KF for $314. Personally even if I had a discrete GPU, I'd still go with the 10600K. $9 is a small price to pay for when you want to upgrade GPUs and find yourself without a GPU for 3 months because of stock shortages, or just to use as a Quicksync encoder. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Intel-S1200-Core-i5-10600K-4-10G…

Given the Ryzen 5 3600 is $300-ish and the 5600X is $470 (if you can even find it in stock), the 10600K is killer for $323. It's definitely quicker than the 3600, especially in games. Competition forcing Intel's prices lower. Great!

  • It seems the deal has just expired. I just planned to place the order…

    • Yea, the eBay promoted ended on 8th Feb 11:59:59PM

      • I started to place the order at 11:35 PM in Adelaide. It might be AEDT. Hopefully, there will be other deals soon.

        • Indeed it is AEDT. Are you looking for motherboard or CPU? Hopefully won't have to wait too long for a deal, although the stocks might start getting short with upcoming lunar new year.
