I noticed they do 14 days change of mind returns, I am going to pull the trigger then go into a store and ask to try their demo model for fitting. If it doesn't fit, I'll just return the unopened one I have bought.

in case no one answers you directly - we have a britax platinum in a cx5 (much bigger than millenia).
when it was rear facing, i could barely fit in the front passenger seat (under 1.8m). and that was pushing front seat right back to secure the baby seat
now forward facing, 2 year old has enough legroom and front passenger seat is ok but not great for long distance/touring

    • +3

We have one in a CX5 and no issues at all with space for driver and child.

      • It all depends on drivers height and good far the drivers seat needs to go back. I have a Santa Fe and can't put the rest facing seat behind the driver as I'm 1.9m tall and my seat needs to go back a fair bit

      Or tandem bicycle?

  • Can someone tell me where to buy just the seat cover for this ? Thanks.

    Fantastic seat.

Our little one is coming up on two and this seat has not missed a beat. It has travelled many times interstate and goes in easily. I have pulled it apart for a deep clean a few times and was easy enough to do.

Child enjoys it and never feels to hot when getting him out - never a sweaty back or under thighs - the + definitely has great breathing fabric.

    Cannot recommend enough.

Have the Graphene and love it. My second is due in April and I want to move by 2.5 year old into a new seat. Any recommendations for something that can last up to 8yrs?

    • +1

I would need to say the Maxi Guard Pro.

I had the milennia and when our 2nd came, I moved him to the maxi guard pro as he was already forward facing in the Milennia.
He loves it as it comes with 2 armrests.

I had looked at other brands but decided to go with the same brand due to the same belt release system.
Don't want to be standing there needing to think "which seat is this one? Where's the button to loosen the belt"

      • +1

        Maxi Guard Pro for sure.

  • any more recommendations for a ~1000$ budget?
Is there any better model/product in the market for the babies?

    • It’s OZBargain, so couldn’t get any better than this.

What's your reasoning for spending $1k?
This seat retails for $800 and is one of the safest on the market.

Britax SNS B-First+ Convertible Car Seat at $849 is the highest priced convertible at BB, doesn't seem to have ISOFix though.

      • +1

omg that car seat is hawt

      • It doesn't have isofix because the whole point of the seat is the click system. Which is not that great BTW.

    Congrats, OP.

I purchased the millenia scit last year and my baby loves it. not sure what the millenia +'s features are.
Purchased the TCN baby card last year with 10% discount and used it to purchase the seat.

i got this for $239 on ebay sale https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/223894615930

it's awesome! does the job. kid is strapped in like an F1 car. Not sure what you'd get from spending another $260

I hope your baby drink like a horse, sleep like a turtle and has high pain tolerance. The first four weeks was dreadful for me. It will get better later. I got a little one just turned 8 weeks today.

Oh and congratulations. I suggest to get a pram that has both chair and bed combo for your next purchase.

    • Can't say our first four weeks were dreadful, ours was pretty good from memory. What has been so bad about it?

What do you mean by a pram with chair and bed? At that age they should be in a bassinet. Swap that out later for the adjustable chair.

      • +1

Most new parents find the sleep deprivation in the early weeks and the completely lifestyle change to be quite challenging,
The first 6 weeks with both my babies were incredibly tough and tiring, but with babies now almost 2 and almost 1, it’s an absolute blast.
        Good luck OP.
The nights are long, but the years are short.

Best seats on the market by far. If someone has an accident they replace the seat with a brand new one so their R&D team can go over the accident and particulars to see how the seat behaved and thus make a better and safer seat.

  • If you have money to spare, and a large enough car, you might want to consider a capsule (along with a fitting pram) for the first 6-12 months so they can keep sleeping while being transferred in/out of the car. For the rest of us mere mortals (in finance terms) a millenia or a graphene would work well. I have both of those. I find the millenia to be a nicer and more comfortable seat than the graphene, at the expense of space. My 3yo is tiny for her age, and she is still currently rear facing, with plenty of space before she reaches the point where she must switch direction. The 10-month-old has a bigger build, we'll see how long he lasts. I know of others though, their kids would cry non stop in the car after they get to about 1 year old unless they are switched to forward facing.

    • What do you think of those over the front carriers.?

So moving them from the seat to the front carrier then to your home?

      • Some of the capsules can be easily taken out of the car, so you just take the capsule out with the baby in it, and put it into a compatible pram. The kid wouldn't know he/she is being moved and would keep sleeping. If you're trying to pick them up from the seat to take them out (or vice versa), there's a good chance you'll end up with an annoyed (and crying) baby. Having said that, it's not cheap buying a capsule and then buying a car seat within the next 12 months. For most kids, after about 6 - 9 months, they would have developed some sort of a napping pattern during the day, and you would normally be able to get the timing right and move them around knowing that they are very likely/unlikely to fall asleep during that time.

    • Our 3.5 month old loves being in the capsule. He can be whinging and crying, then strap him in the capsule and he calms down. Falls asleep int he car easily. Also worked for our first who is now 2 years old and sitting rear facing in a Graphene next to his brother. No.2 is a big boy like you, much bigger than his older brother at the same age, so we may need to move him out of the capsule sooner due to weight!

  • Congrats OP.

Great car seat, we have two - one in each car.

I'm sure somebody above has probably mentioned, when rear-facing it can make sitting in the passengers seat cramped in small cars (Golf) - my wife ended up sitting in the back.

The IsoFIX is easy enough to install yourself, but depending on the car you might need to buy an extension for the top tether strap.

    Best of luck with everything!

  • +1

If you have a small car I'd get the graphene

  • Congrats OP
Got one on the way also later this year so will purchase later to avoid clogging up room.

    Following this thread closely :)

Best advice I was given is put everything on layby when the sales start (ie, EOFY sale, end of year sale, etc)
This way you lock in the price, and only pick them up when bubs is close to arriving as the warranty only starts when you pickup the goods.

I think BB has a $15 one off layby fee so might not be worth it for this 1 item, but if you buy a few things on sale, it works out.

      • Thanks for the advice. Handy to know and will be put into practice! 👍

    • If you're a member, there's no layby fee. Also for items that don't go on sale (BB 'best buy' items), then best savings are 'spend and save' weekends.

  • This is a great seat and a great price. We have the millenia and the maxi guard pro. They're both pretty chunky seats so no room in the middle but they're comfortable and very safe and both kids are happy. We did layby with toys r us so that we didn't need to take the seat home before we needed it :)

  • How often does baby bunting have sales?

    • All the time

But iirc they will price match

  • Congratulations on pending arrival! Thank you for posting this also. Not to sidertrack the conversation but we are also expecting our first in 4 months and reading the comments here from everyone I realise I know nothing! Thanks everyone for the insights and opinions!

  • Don’t buy anything.

You’ll get gifted so many items and can also find people reselling 2 year old items for next to nothing.

Second hand baby market is flooded.

    • Correct. Marketplace is full of ppl
Giving away baby stuff. Save ya $500. Not worth it

    • +4

OP, Don't buy a second hand car seat if it's been in even the smallest accident the safety of it is totally compromised. If you're prepared to take that risk with your child's life then you should seriously question your value as a parent imo.

For everything non safety related, definitely get heaps of stuff on the second hand market there are bargains galore..with those savings buy a quality brand new car seat like this.

  • +1

Congrats and enjoy the ride! Cause with these seats they sure will 😆

I’ve got the millennia+ and maxi guard pro+ both great seat!

But if you’re like me nosey with pricing on these seats it’s not really a special or sale even though they advertise it as sale, it’s a constant sale price, Babykingdom and Baby Village are the exact same price but they have it as their standard price.

  • $500 for a baby seats seems steep

    • Mother's Choice Adore/Accord seem to be some good budget alternatives…

    • What price do you put on your child's safety when they're potentially travelling at up to 100km/h?

  • +1

    Congrats OP.

this is a fantastic seat, we have the platinum pro and the graphene. Mother in law has the millennia.

To some of the commenters on here, people shouldn't skimp on children's safety items and go for cheapies. And definitely not second hand ones. This is a quality and safe product. One of the other big advantages compared to other brands is the increments between each height are a lot more with britax. It's very easy to do too.

I also recommend people get these professionally installed and don't try and do it themselves. It's $40 for someone's life totally dependent on you

Once again op congrats on becoming a dad. It will be amazing (first few months are rough as others have said lol but you'll be fine we've been doing this for millions of years haha)

    • we've been doing this for millions of years

You and partner still making babies to this day? How old are you??? :O

Skimping, cheapies, second hand… I understand the concerns around this wrt baby car seat and other safety items. Are you suggesting don't get a cheap or second hand car (random e.g. don't buy 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe Highlander, instead get a 2021 Mercedes Benz GLE63)?

  • I just bought the Millenia SICT on the weekend price matched for 470 plus a $50 voucher. Could possibly return as its unopened and upgrade to this model, but not sure the features are really worth it? Seems to just be a more breathable fabric which shouldn't really matter given car is always a good temp with climate control?

    • The Millenia is very good value at an effective $420. It offers the same protection so probably not worth the bother of changing it.

  • +1

Once again, thank you so much guys for your wishes, suggestions and some fantastic insights. I suppose I'm prepared for the ardous first few weeks and wish to make the most of our bundle of joy.. Cheers and Stay Blessed!

  • +1

I'm terribly surprised by how many people are recommending the Maxi guard pro. The millenia is a fine car seat and I can see no wrong with it, but Britax certainly has done well in its marketing to convince people that 'if i pay more it has got to be better' which seems to be the case for most baby stuff.

The maxi guard pro has a horrendous score for protection from the only independent, scientific testing website (childcarseats.com.au) indeed, most forward facing seats that last from 0-8 have horrible scores and the maxi guard pro is probably the best of the worse but still, it is 1.9! That is compared to some other seats that are forward facing then a booster that have a rating score of 3-4).

OP, my recommendation for you when it comes to purchasing baby stuff is as with anything, do your own research. The marketing department for many of these baby product making companies make it their goal to try to trick you into spending silly amounts of money and to guilt you into doing it or else you're not 'providing' for your baby. Its terrible.. but effective. I've seen it from my wife, and many of her friends. I was hoping that the OZB community would generally be better but I guess not..

  • +3

Also, on a side note - if anyone has tried installing their own car seat, it is actually very very easy if you can read the instructions (especially with isofix). It is definitely not a $40 well spent and another example of people taking advantage of new parents fragility when it comes to providing the 'best' for their baby.

    • Agreed. We have two isofix seats, two kids and two cars. I have to move the seats A LOT. Got it down to under a minute at this point, isofix goes clip clip, strap over the back and clipped into the boot, pull it all tight. Done. There's little indicators that show you that you have everything tight enough. That's not an exaggeration, dozens of videos online showing you how to do it.

  • First father to be very soon. I can the top spec safe and sound recently… wondering if i made the right choice vs a capsule. Can anyone chime in if capsules really are that useful? We probably wont be doing a hell of a lot of travelling and im not too fussed about keeping bub in the same thing all the time. Maybe im stupid/wrong though haha

    • +1

      Did the right thing.
Never had an issue getting ours in and out of the car whilst still sleeping. I'd only recommend getting one if you get it very cheap (and then onsell to recoup the cost) or hire one…but we certainly didn't need one.

      • awesome. thanks for the reassurance :)

        • We hired a capsule for both kids. With the first one it wasn't much benefit to be honest. With the second it was fantastic because you can pop the baby down in the capsule, fish out your keys and still have a hand spare to control the older kid.

Used two Britax seats for several years. Both are pretty good except:

    The Britax Millenia
    https://www.britax.com.au/media/12576/millenia-tex.jpg?ancho…
Nice large black button on the front to loosen the straps.

    The Britax Graphene
    https://www.britax.com.au/media/13322/graphene-tex5.jpg?anch…
Shove your finger blindly into a hole concealed under a flap (that typically has a kids leg sitting on top). Then flail around inside looking for a little metal lever likely breaking a fingernail or snagging a rough section of plastic. Graphene is smaller and cheaper but not worth the amount of blood it's taken from me.

    • Can honestly say I've never had that issue with our Graphene over the last 18 months or so….have two, one in each car, and no issues.

  • I bought a Maxi Cosi Vita Smart… I thought the head padding was more comfortable and the tilt mechanism a lot easier to adjust than Britax. Did I make the wrong decision?! Convince me.. :)
