  • This would be great if I get it! My plan expiring 28th Feb (In OzB fashion, I tried to recharge on the 29th last year to maybe get an extra day to the 1st of March … but they put me back a day instead :P)

  • mine will expire on the 27th but haven't received anything so far.

    • +2

For all the Boost mobiles I'm aware of (including Jan ones, which all got 40GB), the offer seems to come 2 weeks prior to expiry, to the day. So expect something on the 13th (+/- a day for good measure.)

      • +1

        Still haven't received anything

  • +1

Similar boat, plan expires on the 26th, but haven't received any email yet.

  • Mine May a bit too early and couldn't finish it anyway.

  • +1

Targeted. Mine was only 40gb bonus.

    • But when was your expiry date?

      • 10th Feb. Text sent to me on 28 Jan. This is for the $150 plan.

        • +1

Maybe we have the wrong idea…maybe it's not plans expiring in Jan, but rather, promotional text msgs sent in Jan. We'll see…

This was for a plan expiring in Feb, and text received in Feb.

          • @dealz4all: Was going to recharge it anyway but then I got the irresistable Catch deal and figured it was worth giving up the Telstra coverage.

            • @currentfad: Same here. As mentioned by other ozbargainers, don't need that much data any way (now most of the time get access to free WiFi). The Boost offer was reasonably good and I did plan to "settle" to simply renew but then they change the plan for worse and took away the global roaming feature. This prompted me to look around and ported out for some immediate saving.

              • @Gleung: What do you mean changed the plan for worse? Isn't it able to be renewed at the same rate?

As for the global roaming - aren't they bringing that back when they can? Not a major issue right now obviously, but in the long term, of course we want roaming.

                • @dealz4all: True. Just that the changes announced prompted me to look around. From memory, the option for existing customers to renew on the same terms came out a few weeks after the news of the plan discontinuing. The requirement to renew at full cost rather than by voucher (discounted at Supermarkets from time to time) was another turn-off. It is true that less and less prepaid plans offer global roaming option but that’s something that again prompted me to look around

  • Received a similar offer (40g) via sms, recharged. But have not received the bonus after 3 weeks. Not sure if need to chase Boost for it.

    • +2

You should. Mine was applied automatically, within 60 seconds.

    • +1

Bonus might not show up in your usual "80GB" inclusion. Tap on the 80GB figure in the App, it takes you to a more detailed view, check if you see Bonus data there.

      • Thanks! I have not seen it anywhere. Will call them to ask. But I think the 80gb is more than enough for me.

        • Did you end up getting the bonus data? Mine hasn't shown up in the account yet. Not sure if I just wait, or go on hold for ages to discuss it with them.

          • +1

@JamesLucas: I got the bonus eventually. Received it automatically without contacting them.

    • I received this text too but bonus data hadn't applied a week after I had recharged and I had to chase them up for it.

  • +1

Feb 21st for me. I'll see if an offer comes through in the next few days. I've still got 81GB free from the 80GB + 40GB I got when I joined last year.

  • +1

Mine expires in 15 days, so I hope I get an email in the next day or so.

Although I still have 66GB left anyway - so, I obviously don't use much, especially when working from home for the last 10 months.

  • +1

How do we confirm I have this offer or not

  • Hya anyone used boost for remote fifo works in WA

    • +1

Not a FIFO but Boost has exact same coverage as Telstra so if your camp has good Telstra coverage, Boost should be same.

      • Thanks for reply mate 👍

        • What do you do as fifo?

    • I have used on WA minesites occasionally, no problems.

      • Cheers much appreciated

  • +2

Mine is expiring in early March, have yet to receive an SMS or email regarding the offer.

  • mine expires on the 10th of Feb, but no SMS yet

    • Mine too is on the 10th of Feb. I thought I didn't get an SMS also.. however just checked and I got it on the 27th of January. Although I was only offered a 40gb bonus.

      Maybe check again?

      • +1

        Mine's 8th Feb and I definitely haven't received either.

        • How much data did each of you have left on your plan?

          • @Augh: Just over 44 GB for me. Like many I spent the whole year at home on the NBN, rather than using the mobile network.

  • -1

I only used less 20 GB last year, so I switched to Cole $99 for 60gb. Catch is better without international calls.

  • I spoke to Boost yesterday. The service desk guy said that the old $150/80GB plan is being slowly discontinued as renewals become due. I'm not due till late March for a recharge

  • I'm due for renewal in March end.
This deal from Boost is just amazing. Enough data ( specially now that we work from home) and great call inclusions.

    • +1

A targetted deal is not a valid reason for a neg.

      • -3

Just letting people know if that it is not a guaranteed offer. It for me was unobtainable deal therefore a neg. If you get the message, great. No message, you can't get it. So where's the bargain or how do you obtain it?

        • That's not how negs are used here. Check out the voting guidelines on the wiki page.

Specifically, "the deal doesn't apply to you" is listed as to not vote (positively or negatively).

Negative votes are for specific reasons, and the deal not applying to you isn't one.

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines

          • -1

            @aleayr: No?
The guidelines are just that, guidelines. If you read further down under "negative vote"

            "Negative Vote
            Purpose:
To let others know about issues with the deal, merchant or product."

OzB has helped me save money at times when I have really needed to. Ive tried to post bargains and contribute in other ways to help out. As people here are way better and quicker than me at finding bargains I try to add comments that I think will help others.
In this case it is not a given that one will receive said "bargain" and that it is not possible to obtain unless it is directly offered to you and therefore there is no way for one to obtain it. Just informing others of this fact, before the post was tagged "targeted".
My neg has been revoked and my comments hidden because of too negs, but I still would like people to be fully aware of this. With all the positives on the op it appears like a good deal, one without issues and others might miss out of better phone deals if you expect to receive this and don't.

  • Am looking to jump ship from Vodafone postpaid. Can someone let me know if Boost allow to tether/hotspot data on these long expiry prepaid plans. Tried to look up on website but nothing mentioned. Thanks

    • +2

I've been on Boost now for just under a year. No issues with hotspotting.

    • Never had a problem

    • Isn't that a function of your phone rather than the service provider ?

    • +1

I can confirm that hotspotting is fine. I got mum a sim USB dongle and it's her internet for the year on her PC. Works out at $12.50 per month for 6.6gb of data, perfect for her needs.

  • my boost kit expires on 24/Feb/2022. how do I get any offer?

  • My plan is expiring on the 26/02 and I got 192gb left to use.. haven’t got any text though

  • Mine expired yesterday and I didn’t get this offer.
    Great for those that do.
    I recharged on the $150 12months 80gb plan.
I was on the higher 200+ plan

  • Mine expires on 25th Feb. Hope I get similar.

  • I suspect the offer is based on your usage.

Last year I used most of my data and got the 40Gb bonus on renewal.
But my wife (same renewal date) who barely used any data did not get any bonus data on renewal.

This year due to WFH, we have used very little data, in fact I have not even used up the 40gb bonus. So not sure if we will get the bonus.

Our plans end mid-March, will see if we get the SMS.

maybe I should download some ISOs to use up data in the next week or so. 😉

    • our Boost is due mid Feb, 55Gb data left, received SMS offer on 40Gb bonus for $150 recharge.

    • +1

I highly doubt this (at least based on usage at expiry - could be done at some other time), since one account had 0 data left on expiry, and another had basically 75GB/80GB left (unused).

One received the Jan offer and one received the Feb offer.

PS. As the offer seems to be made 2 weeks prior to expiry, if you think it's based on usage, better get it done before you hit the 2 week mark. But can confirm accounts with well over 90% left did receive the offer.

      • Thanks, your experience debunks my theory.

  • My current prepaid expires on the 20th, so it's 14 days today until that. Hoping to get an SMS of some sort within the next day or so. I have 51GB left of my 80GB lol

  • Mine expires on 23, so I'll wait and see. Barely 70GB left of my 80. Might be more opportunity to travel out of wifi range next year though.

  • +1

Mine expires on 19th Feb but I have not received any targeted SMSes or emails yet :(

    • same same. i only used 34G out of 80G+40G bonus. So didnt touch the main 80G. Maybe thats why as mentioned above.

      • I've used all my data - maybe just 1 GB left.

  • Same. mine expires Feb 20 and no sms.

    • I think some people mentioned in Jan they didn't get an SMS, but still got the bonus anyway? (And also some people, like in this thread, said they got the SMS but no bonus applied….)

So many the system's a bit wonky. Who knows….

  • My yearly plan is expiring on Feb 23rd and no promotional text. :-(

    • Maybe if people posted the amount of data they have out of their quota at the end of the 11th month, we may be able to get an idea if it's anything to do with that?

Also, I think people mentioned in the other thread that some people didnt get SMSes but got the bonus on recharge anyway. (And you also have those who got SMSes, but had to chase up the bonus…)

      • Is that true, ? People got bonus data even without getting SMS?

  • I called Boost and was told that marketing decides who receives the offer based on eligibility. The rep could not tell me the eligibility criteria for receiving the offer. He said he cannot implement the offer for me prior to my expiry next week even if I am considering jumping ship.

    • -2

      I am considering jumping ship.

I know in these trying times that may seem an option, but seek help

    • I recharged today whilst online to Boost chatline and the rep arranged the bonus gb for me.

      • How did you ask? I tried asking and the rep said they'll review and let me know by sms/email later.

        • I asked the rep online for the bonus data as many other subscribers had received the offer and was provided it after some minutes of waiting. Maybe the rep has to know who to ask in the office in order to get an immediate response to your request.

  • my plan expires on1st of march.
just received a SMS with no bonus.
I still have 180g left from last year………stay at home Victorian

  • Tip for anyone wishing to renew the $150 plan who didn't get the bonus data. I contacted them via chat as my plan was expiring and they were happy to apply bonus 60GB on my next $150 recharge when i enquired about it. Rep 'manager' approved since I wasn't eligible to receive.

    • Damn…good for you. I think someone tried that and it didn't work.

      • I tried last night …. I have 2 phones both (1 for me/ 1 for the missus) on the $150 plan expiring 2 March. I was as nice as could be but the rep said she thought it was targeted and had nothing to offer me :(

        • +1

Perhaps try during the day and within 2-3 days of expiry. Some folks have had success too

    • How did you ask? I tried asking and the rep said they'll review and let me know by sms/email later.

      • +1

Told rep when my plan was expiring, asked if there were any specials like bonus data if i recharged the $150 plan. Also mentioned that there were many who received 60GB bonus data which was targeted and if they were willing to match it.. all in one post.

        • I pretty much said the same thing. They then asked who. Wanted their phone numbers to check and maybe match. I'll try again later today ;)

  • My plan expires in 2 days and I only got the reminder text without an offer for bonus data. Went on to chat on their website and mentioned that some people in the OzBargain community were getting offers of 60GB bonus data and wondered if I was eligible. He said that there were no current promotional offers for my plan, but then offered 20GB, which I am happy with. Still have 63GB from the old plan, so I'm probably not going to need 100GB, but you never know. He also did the same for my wife as her plan expires one day after mine.

  • hi , if someone has the screen shot of the message , can you please upload it ?

  • FWIW, when I contacted chat support today to make the request, the support person was apologetic and said they're no longer allowed (enforced by change of system) to be so generous in terms of data and, worse, expiry period. Sigh. My wife and I still received some bonus data, but nothing like the "Bonus 60GB (or even 40GB) for 12 months".

Apparently the system changeover happened only two weeks ago — should've acted earlier : )

    • Yeah nah rep is full of it. I got mine done this week. You should have kept trying another rep for the 60GB bonus. Luckily first rep did it no issue for me. They add the bonus the day you request it and expire a year from that date, so if you recharge a week or two later the bonus won't be in line unless you recharge on the day they added the bonus.

      • Cheers, you're probably right.

The rep ended up giving my wife and I both 20GB (curiously with different expiry dates 🙃), but in the end it's mostly a nice-to-have — we don't come anywhere near using most of it because of Wi-Fi at work and home.

  • +2

Just messaged boost in their online chat. Rep said I could rollover my data, get 60gb bonus data and 80gb renewal data when I recharge $150 before my expiry date in early March. I just have to recharge before my expiry date and they will manually add the rollover and bonus data. They gave me a reference number so I don't have to explain myself again as they said they added the notes to my account. Needless to say I have saved the chat as it sounds too good to be true. But for the sake of not having to switch every 3 months to get the best deal, it suits me fine to stick with Boost for another 12 months (hopefully I get the bonus and rollover data as promised, but if I don't 80gb should still be ok).

    As always, YMMV.

    • Reunig - I had the same offer. Renewed my plan and no rollver. Had a 75 minutes chat with Boost that ended in a 30gb 3 month offering. When I said it didnt match the Boost txt message rollover of data they said to call Telstra credit management. I'm know holding for them. :(

    • Ended up only getting the 60gb of data. No rollover applied. Couldn't be bothered pushing the issue

    • Never got the SMS, but asked on the chat. Was offered 20GB bonus data, then after some haggling 40GB. They insist that the 60GB are only for "lucky draw" winners. Accepted the 40GB and topped up on the spot. Rollover of existing data was refused as it was "not possible".

  • +1

    Used online chat as well.

They quoted me the T&C first, but then I asked what they could do to sweeten it so I would recharge.

Got data rollover, and that data already has a new expiry date in the app. that is 12 months after the plan expiry coming soon.

Didn't worry about bonus data yet, but more than 2 weeks until my expiry, so hopefully will get an email with the offer - if not can try the chat again.

They were very helpful and polite, gave me a case number if I need to chase up down the track, but I also copied the chat to a text file.

Not going to get this much total data, Telstra network and the international calls and texts for anywhere near $150 for 12 months (= $12.50/month) from anyone else, so worth the recharge for me at that price for another year at least.

Probably worth getting on to them well before your expiry and try a few times if you get someone that doesn't want to play ball the first time.

  • My 3x (family members) all expired 2nd march, haven't bothered to recharge yet and all 3 got the offer today for recharge 12 months at $300 and get 70gb bonus.
For those that didn't get a bonus offer before expiry maybe wait for a few days after expiry and u will most likely receive the offer

    • did you go on a new plan or were you originally on a $300 plan?
