      Thanksssssssssss!

    • +1 vote

Cheers!, just gave myself a Christmas present lol

    •

I was thinking for a while on buying it at the online price of $298 from http://www.game.com.au/playstation-3-160gb-console/playstati... before it sold out online and jbhifi http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/ps3/ps3-playstation-3-16... when it was on sale for $298 as well.

I was thinking they wouldn't go down further before Christmas but Dick Smith did.

I purchased mine from Karrinyup 6018 WA Registered online place one aside in mind that will get warranty online direct with Sony use voucher worked pickup yesterday 24th December and was told I bought the second last one at $249 YAY. Great voucher code. Thank you!

  • +1 vote

Great. Just bought a refurb 120gb for $260.

    • -1 vote

You talking about this deal? 250 + 10 shipping?

  • +2 votes

Anyone know if you can use the $25 off coupon for click and collect?

    • +3 votes

Yep, ordered one @ $249 and will collect @ MQ shopping centre

      • +1 vote

        Cool thanks.

      • +1 vote

Awesome! Just did the same but will collect @ Marrickville DSE

    • +1 vote

where do i get the $25 off coupon code? cheers

      • +1 vote

        all good - my bad.
btw, looks like this is a pretty standard sell price on ebay. good deal anyway

  • +1 vote

is it worth getting the 1/2yr warranty?

    • +1 vote

Yes since it is replacement in that extra period - think of it as an upgrade warranty

    •

I prefer the Sony warranty direct as very confusing the types that stores offer as they have fine print that you need to look for.

  •

K-mart TTP (SA) are pretty happy to price-match these days. It might be a stretch, but if you can find anyone with a Coles discount card (there are plenty goin' around), it'll end up costing $246.

    •

except that they dont like combining the staff discount and price matching

      •

That's not entirely true — it does vary from store to store (and like many other stores - who serves you).
I price-matched a few 8GB iPod touch's ($164 @ Harvey Norman), and then applied my discount card to get it for ~$147.

    • +9 votes

      $236.55 with Woolies staff card.

Shame I dont get paid enough to afford it….

      • +1 vote

        Really? Nice!
In retrospect, I don't think other stores will accept discount codes when price-matching. If you could apply the discount code + Woolies staff card at DSE then you've done pretty well!

  •

Thanks a lot for this and the coupon - collecting mine from Broadmeadows.

  •

Why is it mine total cost comes out to $258.95? NOT $250?

    Item $274.00
    Xmas Bonus -$25

Total should be $249 NOT $258.00??? WTF?

    •

I had the same problem because I calculated delivery. Seems it doesn't clear the delivery cost when checking out.

Try resetting your cart or signing out

  • +3 votes

keep telling myself "have to resist, have to resist" :(

    • +10 votes

same here. your brain finds all sort of reasons to buy a 2nd ps3.

      • +8 votes

and for some a third. :p

        • +1 vote

and for few, a fourth :P

          @cityofsydney

          is your name Broden? :)

  •

Just picked up from Rhodes awesome thanks everyone

    •

Did you pay $274 or $249? I used the $25 off coupon for click & collect and I got a confirmation email but it doesn't specify $249 anywhere?

      • +1 vote

Picked up for 249.00 i showed them the print out.

Make sure to choose click and collect for it to remove the delivery

  •

    extended warranty or not? anyone..?

    • +1 vote

Use credit card that gives extended warranty or get one year extra at least, there is a lot of broken ones on ebay

    • +1 vote

put it on ur credit gold/platinum card and get the warranty that way and save a few $$

also PS3's dont die as often as Xbox 360's do. well not the new slimmer one atleast

      • +3 votes

to be honest neither of the newer models die all that often, for example xbox360s have not yet had a real RROD since the jasper revision came out (~3 years ago)

  • -1 vote

sorry ignore this post. coudlnt delete

  • -3 votes

    Finally a PS3 deal, thanks!!!!

Hey guys think its gonna get any better than 249? black friday maybe?

    •

      Black friday was ages ago

      •

oh yea sorry head was jumbled up, was meant to say the new years deals! LOL

  •

Anybody got a special on Blu Ray remotes now for the Ps3

ps code doesnt work for me anymore

    •

Try ozgameshop they have them for $26

      •

        Thankyou

    •

Code didn't work for me the first time, tried again and then it went through :)

      •

your right working for me now

  • +1 vote

    Awsome deal!!

DSE online is also doing a buy 1 get 1 free on HDMI cables.

    •

Hopefully they are a realistic price vs the USB cable I went to buy from them yesterday, $29 at DSE vs $1.27 from ebay…delivered….WTF??? Anyway if the HDMI is around the $7-10 mark and you get two its pretty good, any more and its more overpricing

  •

Are these the firmwares we are looking for?

(Can't believe noone asked this yet! :)

I'm pretty sure all 160gb models are good, but I'm out of touch with the PS3 scene.

    •

Nah the hackable ones are long gone, buddy.

    •

its the 120gb ones that will be good for old firmwares, these ones slim chance

  • +12 votes

Picked one up on $249 and the salesman murmured that price killed them and won't even give me a bag.

    • +1 vote

My salesman tried to put mine in a bag, but it didn't fit. So I had to carry it to my car in the rain :(

      • +1 vote

thats ok. the girl at the counter the other day stuffed it in the bag, double bagged it and even used a third bag to tied the handles to make one handle to carry. :)

        This was Mac center

  • -3 votes

It's Dick Smith. The hard drive will be second hand and full of pirated movies.

    • +13 votes

adds value to the deal. Free movies. :D

  •

yeah they'll refuse warranty on it because of the movie file dates. Its dick smith/woolys - do what they want.

  •

I ordered one for Click & Collect, but the price shown in the email did not include the $25 christmas bonus (it did show on the site when I placed the order). I hope they still honor it.
Will finally have a blu-ray player in the house :)

    •

some ppl reported that it doesnt so in the email. just take a print out or copy the order with the $25 discount.

      •

Just picked it up, the price at the counter included the $25 saving at $249, awesome :D

  •

At Dick Smith the xmas bonus code and a staff discount if you can get it, brings it down to $236.55

  •

What's the firmware of this thingy?

    •

if they have a year old stock u might get lucky, but the odds are slim to find what u r looking for !

  • +1 vote

fyi..just wanted to let everyone be aware of the article on SMH about Dick Smith. Says they sell "used" hard drives as "new".

    http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/computers/complaints-moun...

It relates to their hard drives but I assume you need to be careful if any of their other products are the same.

    • -1 vote

doesn't warrant a neg … whatever they sell .. comes with warranty .. just be careful is all

      •

yea, sorry about that guys ..I clicked on the negative at first but thought I could cancel it, but couldn't find how to.

        •

Click votes at the top and delete your neg vote

    • +3 votes

The guy doesn't know anything about partitioning. "The 1.5 TB drive has only 30 GB of space."

  • +1 vote

    thanks…neg vote revoked.

but yeah everyone "buyer beware" you may be getting something that is "used" from Dick Smith.

    •

Nice to know that information thanks

  •

I was charged $9 for delivery?????

    •

      good price.

  • +4 votes

I just used the woolworths discount card and got it down to $236.55.
Maybe this needs to be put into the title.

    • +4 votes

PM your card number plzzz? I wont abuse it

      • +2 votes

LMAO. he believes u. PM me too, I wont abuse it :D

        • +2 votes

Im serious I will only use it for this

        •

What happens if you do abuse it though? Anyone know?

  •

Can anyone who brought this deal tell me what firmware this PS3 is?

    •

firmware not hackable. which one were u looking for 3.41, 3.55?

        • +6 votes

Yes, you will be able to buy and download games from the PlayStation Store.

    • +2 votes

Picked up this afternoon, came with 3.72.

  •

How long does it normally take to receive a confirmation letter via email?

And can I use gift card to buy one?

  •

Guys careful of dodgy Dicksmith practices with 2nd hand selling as new. Your PS3 might be 2nd hand too.

    http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/computers/complaints-moun...

This raise question why its a bargain. But if its geniune and sealed and new then no doubt its good

    Just bought one. Happy days!

  • +2 votes

Price matched at JB HiFi and they gave me a free copy of ICO/Shadow of the Colossus HD.

    No brainer for only $250.

    •

Are you for real? How did you score that game for free?
I've placed a 'Click and Collect' order at o'dickie. Might check out JB HiFi.

      Which JB HiFi is this?

Sorry, just sounds too good to be true. Considering they are making no money from the ps3. (i assume)

    •

      receipt please

    •

      Dude! We need more info!

      • +1 vote

I can report only JB will offer for $274. Which is a $25 saving for thier $299 sale

You could trade in latest two games and bring the price down to $197!

        Eb Games refused
However there seems to be a mad rush atm where everyones buying xbox 360 4gb consoles!

  • +1 vote

With deals like this on new ones no wonder I can't sell my old phat!

    •

      but phat can jailbreak

      so it is better

      •

Yeah, that's what I thought but I can't move the damn thing. It has full backwards compat (albeit JP games only) too.

  • -2 votes

i feel sorry for every1 who bought it on release date for $999. but i guess thats the story with all tech!
