New Customers

Before you activate make sure you get a referral code from a friend who is already with Belong for an additional $20 credit.

3 Months 12GB — Activate on the $25 10GB per month plan. Then switch to the $10 1GB per month plan for the 2nd & 3rd months. You should be able to switch straight away once your account is set up & activated. The first 3 months cost is covered ($25 starter pack credit plus $20 referral credit) and data rolls over every month or can be gifted.

Existing Belong Customers

2 months 14GB — Activate the same as above but in a family members name & email. Use your referral code to give yourself $20 credit (2 more months on the $10 plan). Make sure you actually use the new sim in a spare phone so you can't be accused of breaching the "Customer Terms". Gift the data to yourself gradually or towards the end of the 3 months.

More info at the Whirpool Belong Wiki.
Customer Terms.

I thought you offered a $10 smaller 1G plan?
We did, but as of 23 July Belongs $10 plan will no longer be available for new sign-ups. Once you've signed up, you'll be able to change over to the $10 plan at the start of your next billing month.

You can cancel your service by notifying us. We’ll cancel your service within 24 hours. It may take up to 24 hours to process your request, so you’ll need to let us know at least 24 hours before the start of the next monthly bill cycle. If you want to keep your number then port out before cancelling your service.

This is available now at Coles as it's in the current catalogue as well as next weeks.

Handy for low data users that need something to port to from Kogan 90 days 60GB $14.90.

The Kogan / Belong 1 year sim slut plan is $49.80.

    • Could you do the kogan for 90 days then use belong for 30 days then go back to kogan for 90 days and repeat?

      • Yes

      • +1

Yes I think you have to be ported out of Kogan for 30 days to be considered a new customer.

Just make sure you send Belong a "Support Request" via your account & tell them to cancel after you port out, not before.

        • +1

I'm a bit confused. I thought you only need to tell new sim career about your phone number and current network provider to port out. Then all taken care of by a new provider. You don't need to contact the current provider to tell them you are porting out and cancel the service?

          • +1

@zenzen: No I never said to contact Belong to tell them you are porting out. Most likely your account will be cancelled after you port out but I haven't done it yet & the Customer Terms say to notify them. I pasted it in the description.

Better to be safe than sorry considering they have your credit card details.

  • Anything similar from optus resellers?

  • I tried signing up using referral last week but was constantly getting error messages. Maybe someone can let us know if they are successful!

    • +1

Just send them a "Support Request" via your account and tell them it didn't work when you activated the sim, they will do it for you.

      • referral didnt work for me either and when i sent a support request, they said they couldnt apply it after

        • Where did you get the referral code from?

          • @WatchNerd: here on ozb!

And then belong support also said that referral codes from home internet service accounts will not work with a mobile service activation and then said "unfortunately we cannot apply the code if you have already applied the wrong code during activation"

            • +1

@mrshorty: It may be that the person you got the referral from is no longer with Belong? Likely around here…

            • @mrshorty: The problem is in the design by Belong - there should be distinctive referral codes for each product type so users can tell which is which just by looking at the format. For example my account has both a mobile and broadband service attached to it yet the referral code is the same.

    • +1

unless the referral you use has ported out? (if done from the random referral system here)

    • +3

Thanks @WatchNerd I contacted belong support after seeing your comment here. After verifying my mates name, mobile number and referral code, credit has been applied to both our accounts.

Arthur still in penalty box? Wow

  • Is the Whirlpool Wiki out of date .. regarding activation date and commencement of billing date .. and the double data that provided initially?

    • +3

Yes, which is strange because they updated the part about the $10 plan not being available for the 1st month.

Billing dates start from the day you activate now & there is no double data.

      • Billing dates start from the day you activate now & there is no double data.

Yeah these Belong deals are no longer attractive cos of that. But I suppose it's good for sim slutting every quarter with Kogan.

    Watchnerd posting very unwatch-like deals!

I'm blind… List of referral codes?

    • +3

The mod hasn't link Belong to this deal yet.

Referral code list found here for others https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/belong.com.au

So sounds like if ranomiser picks up a code from someone who's currently not an active Belong user (as they are doing sim hopping with other provider) , you will end up with error and no bonus. This would kill a whole purpose of signup with belong.

Is there any way we can confirm valid or get a code from current and active belong user?
I gess only ask for a referral code from a current user via forum or pm, not using randomiser.

        • Unfortunately requesting a code or offering a code is not allowed on ozbargain.
Users are required to update and confirm their referral codes each year, but other than that it is a fault of the system if people leave a provider and do not remove their referral.
Maybe the system could be modified so the referrer must confirm the code once given to save the referee some grief?

        • Maybe Belong would be better as a private message referral system (same as used for ING referrals) so invalid codes aren't being used by referees.

        • thats right zenzen - belong support also told me I cant use a broadband referral for my prepaid mobile activation which I didnt know was the case

This makes the referral codes randomiser even more of a pot luck

          • +1

@mrshorty: For space voyager, I will get a notification every few weeks saying my referral code has expired. Maybe do the same thing for belong?

            • @Son of Matrix: Looks like mods did a refresh for the belong codes this morning - I updated mine not very long ago but then got a "Your referral code for Belong - Belong (Mobile) has expired. It was entered on 2021-02-15…" notification to update it again

  • Do $2 Sim Starter Kits work for receiving sms only?

  • Officeworks $25 this am.

    • Cool that means they have to price beat Coles by 5%.

  • +1

thanks! bought 1 from Coles, ported number from Boost and activated within 5 mins on a Sunday! Very impressive.

  • I was wondering if anyone knows the following: I have over 200 GB of data on my Belong spare sim. It's been over one year that it was paid through referrals. I think Belong is no longer as popular due to the recent plan changes and so I run out of my promo balance too. I was thinking of getting a new $80 starter though Telstra Plus and make it my primary provider for the time being. What's the best way to move all this data across from my secondary sim? I do not want to find myself getting my primary number cancelled for breaching their Ts&Cs. Cheers.

    Hi guys
Can someone post a screenshot of how the referral system works, couldn't find the "do you have a promo code" anywhere !!

  • +3

This offer seems to be back - I got a $25 starter pack for $10 at Coles this afternoon

  • About the ozbargain referral system: so is it the case that the codes provided could be either broadband or mobile codes? Is there a way to setup separate referral links for mobile and broadband Belong codes?

    • It was brought up here and here, but no comments from the mods.

      • +2

Looks like it is fixed now :)

  • I tried at least 50 referral codes none worked….

    • Send me a PM if you need some help.
