I read this as their 2.5 year old (child) needs a phone upgrade lol

      • wow haha. I was surprised that crooked apple battery replacement sucks as well

      • +1

        Matches his username too ;)

  • +4

Why not just factory reset the phone first before shelling out for a new phone ?

    • +1

I tried that before replacing the battery. It didn’t make a difference. I listen to podcasts for most of the day whilst working so the phone is used for 15 hours a day.

      • +6

Just be mindful of the small battery in the mini if you use it for 15 hours a day.

        • Yeah the iPhone 12 had worse battery than the 11 IIRC, and I think the Mini is even worse. Not the sort of device you'd pick if you care about battery life imo. They are discontinuing this device already due to poor sales

      • Tbh the problem is the physical size of the phone you are using. You can only fit so much battery in a phone of this size.

      • Get a Google Pixel 5. I listen to podcasts throughout the day, Deezer music on BT headphones, FB/IG social media, many messages and a full charge lasts me 1.5 days.

        • Pixel 5 has a great battery life despite being small.

      • $59, looks like you did the replacement in a repair shop rather than the Apple store. Those none oem battery does not last many charging cycles.

      • Did you get the battery replaced at the Apple store, or an aftermarket one?
With an apple battery replacement there is no reason that the battery wouldn't last exactly the same as the phone did when new. If it doesn't, then take it back to apple and have them fix it.

    Ah yes, the Mini 12

    • That’s a good deal. Are you going to post it as a deal? Do pricematches count as deals?

      • +1

after I paid $59 for a replacement battery a couple of months ago.

Take it back to whoever replaced it.

    • +9

I just upvoted a jv comment. I feel so grown up.

      • +3

You should be ashamed of yourself

    • Replaced by apple but I use the phone 15 hours a day listening to podcasts so it’s heavy usage.

      • +2

Why wouldn't you carry around a power pack ?

      • +1

        Specs for iphone 8 say:

        Audio playback:
        Up to 40 hours

        • Yes and also uses 4G connection for downloading then as well

          • @Syd Bargain Girl: What is the battery capacity in your Battery Health?

Mine is at 90% in just over a year.

            • @jv: It was 70% before and is now 92% but I use it all the time. Also heavily used for GPS (Waze) on a daily basis.

            • @jv: Galaxy Note 10+ 99% (4115/4170 mAh) preordered/arrived Aug 2019 (18 months). 20-80% mostly Accubattery on UltraFast 25w charger (not the best for longevity)
Your really have small ones ;)

        • *owner talking into the mic only with phone turned off

        • Depends how OP is streaming it - Cellular = battery chewa, Wi-Fi is probably better. The audio playback would be tested for local playback

          • +1

@ThithLord: I would get two iphone 12s and clone the sims. Then when one runs out of juice, just bring out the second and continue where you left off!

      • Replaced by apple but I use the phone 15 hours a day listening to podcasts so it’s heavy usage.

When I had my battery replaced a few years ago, the warranty on it was 90 days, if you’re still within this period and your battery is not lasting over half a day, you can make a claim on it.

        • It’s been more than 90 days, thanks though

Ah the 12th iteration of the mini. Perfected beyond measure.

Ah the 12th iteration of the mini.

There was no iphone 9 due to a translation error from Apple Germany's marketing team..

    • +1

      It measures 131.5 x 64.2 x 7.4 mm

  • +2

    Aren't they stopping production in Q2 2021 ?

    • +1
      • +1

That would be such a shame. It's such a bloody good phone. I love just slipping it in my pocket and barely feeling it, or taking it on runs but still with the same functionality / camera as the bigger ones.

      • There is a report like this every year for every new iPhone release. They scale up production for the launch, and then taper off production post launch.

    • +1

Not popular as it doesn't serve the main function - show-off.
For real functionality, we have too many choices with Android ;)

  • +7

2.5 year old with an iPhone. Are you looking to adopt? I'm toilet trained

  • wish it was 256GB

    • Buy phone with up to 1TB microSD :)
      Or much faster & $8/100GB Samsung T1 USB-C mobile SSD drive (1TB, inc. 2x fast USB-C/A cables)

      • yeah but i want apple to have the storage or capability to have a 1TB mSD

  • Only Black is 1149?

    • All colours are. I have linked the other colours.

  • My 6 year old has an iPhone 7 and is due an upgrade, but he's not 2.5 so I guess that's me out.

  • +4

If you're buying this phone for battery life…. Well I guess you haven't been reading the reviews.

    • +2

OP should get two of them. Problem solved.

  • +5

If battery life is your reason to get a new phone, then you should get a phone with good battery life. With the 12 mini you'll be in the same situation.

Get one of the bigger ones, or an Android. Samsung s20 fe was giving me 10 hours of screen time, podcasts would last days

    • Off topic but the 4G S20FE is so bad with battery life, is yours the 5G version?

My S20FE (4G) was so bad I changed to the S21 (still exynos but 5nm) and it's been amazing. I start my day at 7am and I have about 20% by 12am.

  • +1

I was coming from a 7 plus with a replaced battery from Apple. Reset it. Everything. Still slow.

Upgraded to an iPhone 12 on the weekend with the base 64GB model for $1309 at Officeworks.

Night and day in terms of battery and obviously performance.

  • +1

    Only 64GB spoils the party.

  • +1

$50 off isnt much for so many votes..

    • Should have gotten in on the 15% off JB gift cards a while back, thats a much bigger discount and we snagged 2 iphone 12's during that period. Woman waiting around also to buy something for her daughter was impressed at the discounting.

      • I got them. I just chose not to spend $3k on two phones..

The world went crazy when it agreed to pay 30% more for iphones than their historic top-end pricing.

        • +1

Didn't help my 3 yr old iphone X was dying on me. Battery health 80% despite having it changed in the past.

  • Those who are after iPhone 12 64gb- the price has been dropped from $1349 to $1309 at Officeworks. All colours available!

  • Don’t forget to stack with gift card discounts and shopback

Just wodering if Apple have sorted out the issues with the Iphone 12 ie.
    1. Dropping calls - can verify this as my brother-in-law has this problem with his 2 month old Iphone 12 plus
    2. Flickering Screen
    3. Battery drain
Was going to get one for my daughther but decided we would just replace here Iphone 6s battery which wasn't keeping charge and wait for the Iphone 13 with hopefully less issues.

    • +1

I think Apple will skip iPhone 13 name

      • +1

14 is a bad number for Chinese people also.

        • So is 4…

  • Maybe they should call it X3 for 13 and X4 for 14 :D

  • Battery life on the 12 Mini is absolutely terrible
Screen has a more green tilt than all other 12 models

Do not recommend. Sold mine at a loss.

    • Wow luckily i didn’t buy it.

      • +1

According to Apple not many did.

    • How often did you have to charge it on average? Is it really that bad?

  • Am I right that this is only $50 less than in Apple store?

    • unless you were quick to price match with OW and get extra savings.

    • But then discounted gift cards.

  • same price at Harvey Norman

  • Officeworks just dropped their price, AS I was on the phone to do a pricebeat, talk about bad timing!

  • Does Apple price match deals like this?
