For those that weren't targeted via email or through their Everyday Rewards app, you can activate the offer through this deal link.

Offer weeks run across the following listed dates (each, a designated week)

week 1: 16/02/21 - 21/02/21
week 2: 22/02/21 - 28/02/21
week 3: 01/03/21 - 07/03/21

If a "Bag for Good" ever gets damaged, we’ll replace it for free no matter when you bought it from us. Simply bring your damaged bag to the Customer Service desk in any of our stores and we’ll swap it for a new one. We’ll even recycle your old one so it can keep doing good.

Get 5 Free 'Bags for Good' Per Order @ Woolworths Online

Some users have pointed out that they can get 5 Free 'Bags for Good' when shopping at Woolworths Online. I have tested this and it works! Just create an online account and link your Everyday Rewards card and then add 5 'Bags for Good' to a single online order. There is a limit of 5 per order but there is no cap on how many times this can be done.

Things to note:

  1. You need to use the Woolworths website as for some reason this does not work on the Woolworths app.
  2. There is a minimum $30 spend for click and collect orders.
  3. This will not work in-store. Only 1 bag will scan for free each week in-store.

Frequently asked questions:

I boosted through this deal link but it isn't showing up on my app. Am I still eligible for a free bag?

Yes, if you weren't originally targeted for the offer but have activated through this deal link, it will not show up in your Everyday Rewards app. The bag will still scan for free once your Everyday Rewards card is scanned.

So much discussion over a shopping bag!!! The mind boggles.

    • +1

LOL, a .99c bag at that

    • yes its a green reusable shopping bag

  • +1

Do we have to 'boost' every week or just the once for the entire 4 week promo?

    • +1

      Just once I reckon

  • I went in today to get the free bag. It didn't deduct the value at checkout. I think you can only get it if you were invited/targeted.

    • I was able to get it by boost it with the link above, was wondering did you wait for at least 2 hours before you shop in-store?

      • yeah, i waited more than 12 hours.

Did it appear in your account or app? Because it never did for me, and that's why I think it didn't work. Did you get the invite to it, or just use the link?

        • You can just sign up again, i dont think you had to have the account prior to the promotion? When you sign up online, just print out the barcode.

          • @MorriJ: by sign up do you mean hit the Boost? When I do that it says I have already boosted that offer, but it's not listed in the list of offers I have activated.

Or did you mean create a new everyday rewards account?

            • @lostn: Yeah; a whole new rewards account should give you 4x bags over the next 4 weeks.

You could in theory do it a few times if you wanted more than the 4 bags as well. When you sign up online; you get an opportunity to print the barcode out before they "send" it to you.

        • Not targeted, boosted with the link and it didn't show in my app too! I simply scan my groceries and the bag then my card at the end, the bag then shown as a "rewards offer" (-$0.99).

      • Worked for me. I wasnt targetted, dont usually use woolworths rewards; so not the best with it.

Clicked link yesterday; waited a few hours (2+ apparently) for it to activate, headed to the shops (takes me an hour to get to them).

Scan the card, scan the bag, discount applied.

  • Boosted using the link but hasn't shown up in the app for over a day now. Anyone found if it'll still work at the checkout even if it doesn't show in the app?

    • I dont use the app and it worked fine. Scan your rewards card then scan one of the bags. It should deduct it at the checkout.

    • Anyone found if it'll still work at the checkout even if it doesn't show in the app?

It worked here at checkout, even though it didn't show in the app after boosting.

  • Hmm, used the OP's link:

"Unfortunately, this boost offer isn’t available to you

You can only boost offers that Everyday Rewards shares directly with you."

    • looks like they closed the loophole

      • Must have.
I can't even sign up for a new account either.

    • ….woolies are stingy as all hell. they wont even tolerate giving away some branded shopping bags ffs!

      • O rly?!

They are giving away 5x bags for free for each online shop (no limits):

        • yawn…
my coles/flybuys points bonuses on this weeks shop was equal to nearly $40.

          • +1

@franco cozzo: I claimed my $40 in Coles last week (not including the points for toilet paper). So my $100 got me $70 in points (yes I could have had more points by only buying toilet paper, but I already have enough).
And then I picked up the bags in Woolies, and when doing so returned a lost trolley and got a $1 coin.
(I walked to woolies anyway to join the "pesto lotto".)
But you're right promos in Coles have been better lately.
Veggies are sometimes expensive though. The local shop in front of Coles often had items at half the price compared to Coles.
So I usually check out the local shop first, then do remainder in Coles.

  • +3

Can’t wait for a news article claiming that “professionals” have done a dirty on Woolies for some free bags lol

  • Pls read comments in this also…

Someone shopped online & ordered x5 green shopping bags & got all x5 for free

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/604841

    • has anyone tried multiple bags in store?

      • yes, did not work.

  • Anyone tried to get more than x1 instore
at once or in same week and was successful
    Just curious….

    • I did click and collect 5 bags so that works I guess

    • Anyone tried to get more than x1 instore

Did not work for the second attempt after the first bag was redeemed for a given week.
I can try with a targeted reward card after Wednesday, and will let you know.

  • +2

    collected my 99c bag…what a bonus /s
meanwhile flybuys this week gave us 5500 points equal to $27.50 in real money

woolies needs to start giving out some incentive to shop there or else theyre going to lose a lot of custom…weve already slashed our spend there by 75%

    • +2

I prefer coles > woolies too since woolies stopped doing rainchecks for almost a year now whereas Coles brought them back

Nothing worse than going to a woolies to find the shelf is empty

      • Exactly. I don’t know wth is wrong with Woolies.

        • +1

Still no rainchecks and using COVID as an excuse. 🤬

    • +2

Same, Coles 20% discounts via points are a true incentive unlike Woolies

  • +1

Yeap a buck a huge incentive lol :)
Please don't forget to keep a eye open for the rare trolley that might have a coin in it . Too many Smarty Pants use those plastic keys nowadays for the convenience of dumping them every where :)

    • also dont forget if you ask nicely at the deli theyll let you try a slice of ham or salami before you buy! bonus!

  • Title should be changed to "Up to 5 free bags per week"

  • +2

and i forgot to pick mine up lol

    • +3

      no bag for you!

    • +1

      Doesn’t week 1 end today?

  • -1

This deal is a trap. Not any "spend X earn Y pts offers" received across 10+ accounts today coz it reeled you in for 4 weeks shopping.

    • +11

Don't have to spend a cent if you don't want to. Just go to self serve and scan the bag and your rewards card for a free bag. Then go shop at Coles with your free Woolies bag if you wish

    • +1

I don't have any Woolworths points deals either!

  • Thanks heaps OP!

  • Just added this and in the app it shows "week 4 starts 08 mar" then only show week 4 if i hit details.

    Which is a bit weird.

    • Doesn’t matter at all.

      • i mean it doesn't have anything about weeks 1-3

anyway it worked so i guess so

  • I boosted it via this link, redeemed one last week but now in the app it says “missed” instead of “booster”. Anyone else have this?

    • +1

Disregard what the app says, this has nothing to do with the app. As long as you boosted and got the green light you are good.

      • Great, thanks!

      • For me it took a while after boosting to be able to do online order (>2 hours for me).

  • Anyone else experiencing a problem with week 2. Boosted via the link but the app doesn't show that it is boosted. Still shows week 1 as over or missed. Did a shop after boosting earlier on in the day and it didn't come up with the discount at all.

    • +3

you only needed to boost once. got my second one already on monday no probs

    • I boosted via link and free bag worked in 1st week but didnt work for me last night for the 2nd week - weird. The system didnt credit me for 0.99 for the bag like it did in the previous week

  • +1

I ordered online and it let me add 5 for free in one shop.

  • +2

For those reading the comments: it looks like you can order 5 bags with each online order (not limited to 1x 5bags per week).
The deal says "get up to 5 Free 'Bags for Good' each week", I just picked up a second order this week with 5 bags, and they were all there (so I already picked up 3x 5 bags with 3 online orders; on the same account).

Not sure if it's an anomaly, but it was working for me.
Probably other people tried too, but I didn't see this posted yet.

Also, I didn't need to use the online website, I used the app and it went through ok.

    • +2

Legend! True Ozbargainer right there. Thanks for the info - updated OP

    • +1

Just adding: I was also able to scan a single one at checkout without any purchase (on top of the 2x 5 I picked up this week).
So I got 11 bags this week with this deal.

(In total I did spend $90 in woolies for online orders I didn't plan to do yet ..)

    • I'm not getting the discount deducted for the bags when I added x5 bag for good today (10/03) on my online order, has the offer expired?

  • Strange, the free bags offer on my Everyday Rewards app is now moved to “Ended”. Last week it was in “Available” and was working.

Anyone seeing this too? Even though it’s in “Ended” now, does it still work for the remainder 2 weeks?

    • +1

Just picked up a free bag without buying anything, so still enabled for me (and I had to enable it manually last week because I wasn't targeted.)
The lady at checkout did look at me strange when I only let her scan the bag (self checkout had a huge queue, so didn't want to wait too long).

      • Was the offer in the “Ended” section of the Everyday Rewards app for you?

        • +1

I didn't check the everyday rewards app before, I checked just now and it says "ready to shop" (I already collected one yesterday. I wasn't targeted originally, and I also didn't pick one up in the first week. My girlfriend was targeted and we used that account to do $30 pick-up for 5 bags. Later I enabled on my own account and picked a free one up last week and this week.)

      • How do you enable it manually?

        • +1

If you weren't targeted, you use the deal link and then enter your rewards number yourself. (And wait a few hours to make sure it's active.)

    • +1

Should be alright. 1st week I didn't claim any bag, and the offer in the app moved to "Ended" (showing missed). Last week (2nd week) I was able to claim one bag.

      • Ok that’s great. Many thanks.

    • +2

For the first reward card which was targeted, it shows that I have claimed week 1 and week 2 correctly. Week 3 has not yet updated.

For the second reward card, which was not targeted, the app shows Ended (Missed) for last week even though one was collected.

Everyday Rewards backend must be a complete mess since they cannot even collect and show this data correctly.

      • Try to activate again via the link?

        • The manual activation works.
However, the app or the backend is messed up because it shows me the digital receipt of having collected a green bag under the rewards offer, but under the offers tab it renders as Ended (Missed). 🤷

          • +1

@DoctorCalculon: Something is messed up like you say:
My GF's account was updated (see thicks at the bottom left) but mine was not (only week 3 visible, bag picked up but not ticked: maybe I should try and pick up another one …).
(bags were picked up on the same day on both accounts)

            • @johnmelb: Ha! Very similar glitch.

maybe I should try and pick up another one

I should try using the rewards card that was not targeted as this is the one that is messing up.

If you try it before me, let us know how you go.

              • @DoctorCalculon: Sorry to say, the bag didn't scan for free anymore.
I did act surprised and showed the rewards activation and the lady said "it's fine you can take it".
Although I did get it this time, it's only 1 for free in store per week, even if rewards app doesn't update properly.

                • @johnmelb:

it's only 1 for free in store per week

Thanks for confirming. Now we know where the problem is.
It is their backend API sending wrong or out of date data back to the Rewards app.

All this drama over a shopping bag!! Really.

I've had no trouble getting mine and the app has updated correctly. Wonder why I am so special that it all just works for me? I was targeted so I wasn't trying to get something for free that Woolies didn't offer me in the first place.

As we have seen all too often, trying to game things over and over again, just wrecks it for everyone else as organisations wise up and stop offering things like points, freebies etc. I do very well out of the Woolworths Bunch program but I think they've got that one nailed down very tightly with very few samples on offer across the whole of Oz.

    • +1

I just thought it seemed like a really good deal: simple to register cards, worked like a charm for both my wife and I week 1…
then week 2 mine worked, my wife's didn't. So they just let her take it.
then week 3 mine worked, hers didn't again. So we put the bag back and abandoned the checkout in the middle of a sale.
That's more like how woolies tech works.

  • I've got 15 free bags so far.

    • Through 3 separate online orders?

      • Yeah they still haven't fixed the glitch.

  • How do you get this though? Grab a bag and show them the offer in rewards app?

    • +2

      Scan the bag

    • +1

Scan the bag, payment changes to 0 and the receipt prints.

    • +3

Scan the bag, scan your rewards card, should say rewards offer -0.99 cents and voila you got yourself a free bag. For your information, you must boost your offer at least 2 hours before shopping in-store or online. This is the last week you can claim the bags until Sunday.

  • I got two bags so far…one bag today and last week.
But I missed to claim the first two weeks 😣
Is it still possible to claim those two remaining ones?

    • You can claim 5 at once if you read the OP up the top under the heading 'Get 5 Free 'Bags for Good' Per Order @ Woolworths Online'

  • Only just noticed the 5 free with online orders… It's $30 min spend for C&C, right? :D

    • Yes, correct. Place as many $30 orders as you want and add 5 bags per order. Enjoy.

  • +3

I stuffed up and grabbed another bag the day prior to the next week starting. I know I should have cancelled the 99c purchase but I let it go through. I should have my OZB license revoked

  • Wish I saw this deal earlier
Literally seeing on the last day of promo

    • Depending on your weekly shopping budget you can stock up on free bags even on the last day. Just do a few lots of $30 C&C orders and put 5x free bags in each order.

      • I think olive oil and a few peanuts, macadamia nuts will do it for me I think. Thank you

      • Thank you OP! was able to collect 10 bags for free with $ 61 spent.
