  • Nice price ! my parents just paid $80 the other day off Kogan

    • +1

Why would anyone buy this over the new Google box, or VodafoneTV - both of which can be purchased for less than $80?
By all accounts this is a sluggish, limited mess

      • We'll they still have foxtel in 2021 the original box.. and are moving the tv to a wall that doesnt have coaxial so they need something super basic and easy to use I still wonder why they spend $80 per month for non hd and they have a 65" 4k too but I've tried many times with no luck

      • Can't get the VTV anymore, but I agree with you on the GCCwGTV. Although not sure where you can get it for under $80. Unless you're talking about the Netflix deal.

  • -1

    So this can stream Disney+?

    • I doubt it. The Telstra TV doesn't.

    • If its got chromecast, you would cast Disney+ from your phone to the box. Not that hard really, but not like a disney+ app on the box itself

    • +2

Yes it can. It also has the disney app you don't need to cast.

    • +2

Definitely can install the native app! Straight form the Play Store.

Someone below mentions side loading of .APK's is difficult?

Personally haven't had this issue.. Run's Amazon Prime and other side loaded app's with ease, only app I had issues with was the U.K's channel 4 App. The orientation is busted. You can fix this but it's annoying and requires the use of a keyboard (K400 works perfect).

Yes.. It can get hot.. I've only noticed this now during summer. It causes it to lag, more so if running 4K content! I got my first one in winter and it never had an issue! It runs things like the Nord VPN app well too, which will cause the box to default to apps as it states it hasn't got an internet connection, it has, just press the apps button and it works fine.

It's cheap and cheerful.. I cant really fault mine. Apple TV 4K is a great deal more expensive than this! You only need a Foxtel trial and account once! Just put the login and details in a notepad note if you reset the box. Unfortunately the remote microphone does not work for google integration. Annoyingly it is disabled by default. For the small grief it's given me it works fine. 4K Netflix looks great on my 65"

The built in TV tuner works well though, even though many of us don't use free to air!

Be aware both Kayo and Binge are no longer available on the Foxtel Now Box:

    • +10

When Foxtel don't even support their services on their own hardware.

    • +3

lol its like the same guys running streaming apps at foxtel are negotiating with facebook and google

      oh wait

    • Just side load it.. pfft easy

      • +1

Foxtel block some apps from being sideloaded. Not sure about these ones.

  • +11

    Foxtel? No thanks.

    • +7

      Support news corp? No thanks!

      • +6

        Support anything Murdoch? No thanks!

  • +1

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Netflix and any other service cannot be connected to unless your Foxtel Now subscription is active and you’ve logged in successfully.

    • +2

Believe you can just sign up for the trial, Log in and cancel trial and you can continue to use the device.

      • +1

I tried that prior, but once the trial ends they prevent you from starting a new trial. The box remembers the trial forever.

        • +1

You can still use the box, just not foxtel after the initial sign in

    • +2

You need an Foxtel account (free), it doesn't need an active subscription.

No idea if Netflix is available.

      • Are you referring to the trial Foxtel account? That isn’t free for more than 14 days.

        • +1

          1) Create an account with a trial.
          2) Cancel.
          3) Account remains forever (just without an active subscription).
          4) Never reactive the subscription.

  • +1

Foxtel sent me one of these for free when they dumped the Xbox One app…even though I hadn't had an active Foxtel Now subscription in months.

Shame it's a POS. Runs hot. Butched Android TV UI. APK sideloading blocked for a number of apps.

  • +2

Just letting y'all know this doesn't support Kayo any longer. Also the built-in Chromecast doesn't work all that well. So for mine probably better off going with something else.

Foxtel and Kogan in one deal. Just need to incorporate Harvey Norman some how for the trinity of shit.

Foxtel Now Box - Netflix Compatible $49 Delivered

I'd rather get the Google TV for $44…. (If you subscribe to Netflix.)

  • got one free from telstra, these are dropping in price, just wait.

  • +5

Aweful tv box from all perspectives

    • I haven't had any issues with it.

    • +1

      Agreed. It's a POS

  • +1

I had a couple of these without foxtel and I found it unbareable. I have sinced replaced with Apple TV 4k and Chromecast with Google TV and I am much happier with those.

  • if you want foxtel now, netflix, binge, kayo, disney+, nine now etc all on one device then go raspberry pi running kodi, all the instructions are online, google is your friend

    • -1

      nice side business

      • +2

Huh? He's not offering to sell you one.

        • -1

no but maybe for someone else…..?

  • I bought a Kogan beam projector this afternoon and it was only extra $1 to get this device if anyone is after beam projector as well

    • Link to that deal?

  • If Plex app can install to this unit, it would be very good price.

  • Here's the link to the Foxtel Now Box FAQ page There is so much mis-information going on, just go to this page and spend 2 minutes reading it.
    If you're too lazy then I've copied and pasted some of the more common questions that people have asked and people have answered incorrectly to;
1)Can I purchase the Foxtel Now box without a Foxtel now subscription?
You idiots will need a Foxtel Now login when you first set-up the device. If you don't have a login, you can sign up to Foxtel Now here.
2)Can I download apps to the Google Now Box?
As the Google Now Box has Chromecast built in, you peanuts can download apps such as Netflix, Disney+, Stan, Youtube.
    3) Where can I purchase the Foxtel Now box?
Foxtel has colluded with Kogan to offer this exclusive deal. The Axis of Evil!!
4)How does Foxtel now box work?
Rather than connecting to cable or satellite, the Foxtel Now Box relies on an internet connection, if you're smart enough you can plug directly into the modem with an ethernet cable or just use WiFi to connect the device. If you're incapable of connecting the Foxtel Now Box to the internet, you can still use it to watch live free-to-air TV.
