There is one in Queanbeyan (Shelbyville)

      Queanbeyan is in NSW

    Kfc alternative?

    • +6

      So much better

        This is a contentious opinion.

Sounds like a poll is imminent.

I'd argue they are similar but different. I know both are fried chicken, but IMO KFC can be better sometimes, but Kingsley's is more consistent. I think Kingsley's does have the edge overall.

A little drier and more peppery than KFC. Less greasy but if too dry the gravy is great. Good crinkle cut chips.

looks at the down votes Found the locals hahahaha

It's been $9.95 for 9 on Tuesdays for as long as I can remember. Good chicken, different to KFC that's for sure. I would even argue this is the only thing good about the ACT.

Have you heard of ACT's yarra kebabs?

      • +1

Didn't like Yarra kebabs. Instanbul on Kings here in Sydney walks all over it.

        • Fair enough lol. My partner is having a hard time trying to find a kebab shop to beat yarra's. Seems like instanbul is permanently closed.

          • @xaykogeki: There are a few really good Turkish places. The only one I've been to recently is Bosphorus at Wentworth Point because I've been mainly working from home of late. It's a bit more expensive than Istanbul on King, but it's worth it. Sultan Turkish Pide in Waitara is also good, but went a while back.

            • @kiriakoz: Went to Wentworth Point (heh) today and since I am around the area, I ordered an HSP from bosphorus.

Though not eating the whole thing till tomorrow, I tried a few chicken pieces. Chicken is so much more moist than Yarra. Taste closer to roast chicken. I will have to have a sit down to be able to judge it properly and give a review in Google.

          • @xaykogeki: Kebab shop at Fyshwick markets isn't bad - not as good as the original Yarra kebab though.

      • Very average kebabs. I’ve had food poisoning twice from there as well..

    • Kinglsey's
Goodberries - Except before they racked their prices up a heap
      Yarra babs
Brodburger - Maybe before they went largescale

      • Went to Goodberry's in Erindale once, it's nice but yeah the prices a bit off.

I've actually never been to Brodburger…

        • Prices are crazy from what they used to be, and the large used to include 3 flavours. Now it costs more than twice the price, and only includes one flavour, with each additional costing 90c.

But maybe I am just getting old. I mean, I remember DK donuts for 40c each and now they are $2.00 each.

    • It's only $9.95 on sale which happens once or twice a year. I usually jump on it in week one and forget about it until the next sale. See u in Belco!

    Awesome Chips!

  • Best deal at Kingsley’s - $3.95 for four wings (buy 2, get 2 free)

  • I've been wiating for this to come back!

Shame they don't have a drive thru on the northside 😭

    • +1

I don't think they have a drive through anywhere, let alone north side?

      Source: am southside

      • Oh. Good to know.

I've become a true canberrian and haven't ventured southside 😊

  • Thought it had been this price forever - they advertise it on the radio every other week

Oh I miss Kingsley's chicken and their awesome chips and gravy so much since I moved to QLD from the ACT 12 years ago.

  • Ahh.. brings back great childhood memories. Don't know why they don't open one up in Sydney.
