Apple iPad 2 16GB Wi-Fi + 3G - FREE SHIPPING - $623.70 + Other iPads Cheaper Than Kogan

180

For some reason rayray (the guy that posted this URL in response to the iPad2 price-matched at David Jones) got a neg simply for pointing to this site. I had a look, and the iPads are all cheaper than anywhere else have seen - including Kogan.

All are listed as free shipping.
All available in white or black.

Model Price
Apple iPad2 16Gb Wi-Fi $473.55
Apple iPad2 16Gb Wi-Fi + 3G $623.70
Apple iPad2 32Gb Wi-Fi $577.50
Apple iPad2 32Gb Wi-Fi + 3G $710.33
Apple iPad2 64Gb Wi-Fi $658.35
Apple iPad2 32Gb Wi-Fi + 3G $773.85

The 32Gb alone is about $175 cheaper then from Apple itself…

I have never heard of, nor purchased from IT Procurement before, so i do not know if they are grey imports or what, but as worldwide Apple warranty, not sure it matters too much! Note - they do have an ABN and claim to ship in 1 - 2 business days….

UPDATE
Just did and ABN and ASIC search - seems they started up in March 2011 in NSW, so not a lot of history. They have a Bpay code and a Post Billpay code.

anyone bought from here looks dodgy??

    • +3

I checked their website and does not sounds dodgy. They have ABN, and they deliver in 1-2 business days.
      From website:
      - This website is owned and operated by EGLOBAL PTY LTD ABN 97 149 824 724.
-EGLOBAL controls and operates this web site from servers located within Australia. Our Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of New South Wales, Australia.
-Deliveries to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane metropolitan addresses will be delivered within 1-2 working days from goods being despatched.

      • Things that ARE a little dodgy:

        • Website registered to Johnathan Webb ABN 62508213004. That ABN is not registered for GST and is Sole Trader.
        • EGlobal was registered as a Pty Ltd business in March 2011.
        • In spite of claiming to have offices in all cities they all have a centrally redirected single 1300 number (which can be directed to a mobile phone if you want).
        • The listed offices are all in high rises in cities; not a very smart system for a parts distributor even if they are only drop shippers. They're also all in quite expensive buildings (well, I know the one in WA is).
        • I doubt they actually have all these offices. They're not listed in the Whitepages under either IT Procurement Services nor eGlobal, not even the "Head Office".
        • +3

I've asked a friend who works in the city to check out their Perth/AMP Building office during his lunch break. I'll let you know if he has the time to check it out, and if he does whether it's actually there or not.

        • +3

So, no office in the AMP Building. Not listed on the tennant directory and the 28th level receptionist had never heard of them.

    • looks dodgy to me too

can flexirent this as well. flexirent is a separate company. if you have suspicion you could call flexirent to confirm that they support this company.

  • +7

Virtual offices, no credit cards/paypal accepted..
There are more questions rather than answers..

People here have every right to be skeptical and give this company a "hard time" especially given they don't even offer Paypal or credit card payments like most of other company on the net! Two forms of payment you just happen to have financial recourse to get the money back should something go wrong, unlike the cheque, postal order or transferring funds directly into their account where it's near impossible to get your money back should you need to.

If this is legit, then go grab it.
But yeah..seems to good to be true.

      very well said.

  • If this is the eglobal company then they are legit http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1552392

  • If the company is legit, then I reckon they must be refurbished rather than new iPads, I don't know how else they'd get them so cheap and I couldn't see anywhere on their website that stated that they were new. Their prices are within a few dollars of the refurbished ones from Apple an I know personally I'd rather go for the security of ordering with Apple.

    • +1

Legally they would need to display that information. If it isn't displayed, they they aren't refurbished. Not sure what you mean about security buying from Apple, a worldwide warranty is a worldwide warranty - you would rather pay $150 extra just to purchase from Apple?? Smells like fanboi spirit…

      • +2

Haha, definitely no fanboi spirit here, I'm a PC person and still laugh at all the macbook people at uni. I just meant the security of buying from a well known company as opposed to a website for whom people are still dubious of it's legitimacy, and no I wouldn't rather pay $150 just to order from Apple, I was comparing the refurbished iPad prices to these (the prices are almost identical). Also, I was unaware that buy law they'd have to state that they were refurbished. I knew they couldn't claim them to be new if they're not.

        • Not labelling returned items is why DSE got in trouble…

  • they are virtual offices see link ti rent one at the address

See this forum on Whirlpool http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1817405#

Apparently they honoured a 2 for 1 deal, and one of the posters took photos to prove he received his order http://whrl.pl/Rc1Fei

    • Having read this I'm pretty confident they're legit & they're just having issues with IT/Communication. Hope they do a 2 for 1 again :)

  • +1

Surely for the sake of $26 or so (based on 16GB+3G), it would make more sense to go through Kogan, at least one would have more confidence they would actually get their item. I mean the guy is willing to put his mug on tv, and you are still spending over $600 (its like a 4% saving).

The above figures may be different for other units, I can't be bothered doing the maths.

  • Sent them emails several times but no response. Too good to be true.

legit. Rob J Kanski (user with 1000's of posts on WP) got 2 delivered from them

    • +1

One good response in a thread that was clearly being noticed by eGlobal (and user Rob J. Kanski was probably not that hard to match to a real name).

And even that one took 12 days.

While it certainly helps the case that they're not dodgy, it's hardly definitive. All the computer stores that ripped people off did give the goods to the majority of customers right up until they didn't (Nintek, that one in the QLD CBD 5ish years back etc.).

  • I'm negging this one for the same reasons I negged:

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/60865?page=1

    BUYER BEWARE!

These slightly modified comments on the other bargain are relevant:

"I hate scams which is why I negged this. This one is soooo OBVIOUS … for a myriad of reasons, many of which have already been posted by others (whoever negged me, instead of the scam, please note).

Just to take a handful of examples from looking at the website, which doesn't bear the slightest scrutiny:

    1) The graphics on the website have been purchased/copied and the text ineptly modified - no reputable company should do that. Moreover, they have copied a world map showing their global locations and none are shown in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, despite them listing elsewhere serviced offices with Servcorp in those cities.

    2) The narrative on the website - depending on where you look - is EITHER about a company that a) outsources IT or b) trains staff to retain customers - not about selling iPads and suchlike which has been appended to the mess of a site.

    3) They show over 30 partners. Taking one at random, Microsoft, they claim to be a Gold certified partner - they are NOT. Microsoft lists its partners and this company is not one of them. An unrelated company e-global in Malaysia IS a partner, but it has nothing to do with this operation. The IBM reference is similarly concocted - IBM have a partnership with an unrelated NZ company with the same name (eglobal).

    4) There are the (evidently still) obligatory grammatical giveaways not picked up by the spell check or their English 'expert' eg: "Companies thrive to find a technology partner who …" …. they meant 'strive'.

… and they claim nearly 300 employees. Strange, that not one of them have fronted here or on Whirlpool to answer the questions raised!!!

Please don't waste your time on this SCAM."

  • Redmoon reports receiving his ipads and hopefully the others will arrive in the next few days .. and I'll have to be more circumspect in future.
