Nice, but should have BUPA in title as well. Can’t see why you can’t just scan $5 of eligible items, pay, rinse and repeat. All would be free!

    • I did have bupa in title with my original post. I think moderator changed it.
Yes looks like we can get as many $5 items for free as possible :)

      • We tried our best but not everything could fit into the 128-char limit of the title. We thought the Targeted flag will cover for the lack of "Bupa account linking required".

Is there anyway to check if the item is actually classified as toiletry?
Would checking the online store for category and then shopping in store be fine?

    • I have same question too tbh
Don't want to buy wrong products and miss the points

      • Yeah I think they list out eligible products instead of category

  • +3

Better to check online first by putting the items in the cart and see the points that you’ll collect. Facial tissues somehow are not included although they’re listed under health and beauty category.

    • +1

Handy tip, didn't realise that would work with offers like this. Thought it'd be the usual 'wait seven days and see if it's added to your account' schtick.

  • +1

I used the offer yesterday 2x. Got the bonus 1000 points on the first purchase but not on the 2nd. Adding it to the online shop shows as bonus points for the items though. Not sure what is happening.

Maybe only 1x transaction a day?

    • T's & C's says it's multiple times. Maybe wait for 7 days and claim it if not receive the bonus points?

    • For me it worked. I made 2 separate transactions and got 1k each time

      • Were they right after each other or how far apart were the transactions?

        • +1

I’ve done both ways now. I can do multiple standing at the self checkout scanning $5 items one at a time. And I can do same again later at another store. The receipt says 1006 points collected each time.

  • What is the definition of "each qualifying purchase"? If I pay $15 for 3 x $5 toiletries in one transaction, does that qualify as one or three purchases? 1000 bonus points or 3000 points? The Coles toilet paper flybuys points bonus points are based on per "item" purchased, regardless in one or more transactions.

    • +1

You'll have to separate the payment to receive the bonus points for 3 times. You can try this on their website to see how many points you can get before purchase in store.

  • Merged from Woolworths + BUPA 'Error' Means for LOTS of Qantas Points @ Woolworths](/node/608862)

(Mods, I literally have no idea how to word the title better, but this is arguably an error by Woolworths and quite the bargain as a result)

OK, this is a little weird and takes some explaining, but builds on the deal here.

BUPA and Woolworths are offering $5 spending = 1000 everyday reward points.

As discussed on facebook pages, people have been testing this and found at self service, you can just say, buy 50 of these in separate transactions and rack up the points something chronic.

Then if you have your Woolworths set up to convert to Qantas Points this means a lot of points for travel….

    An example:

"I went to Woolworths in Balmain and loaded up mainly on Rexona Deodrant (reduced from $7.50 to $5). Using self-serve I processed each tin separately. Each one scored 1000+rewards points. I got 25,000 Woolworths Rewards points today plus the weekly shop which got me 13,000 Qantas Points for a spend of circa $150 on toiletries plus maybe $170 on weekly shop.
To give you an idea of how RIDICULOUS this is, if I didn’t set up to convert to Qantas points then spending just $10 on two Rexonas would have given me $10 in Woolworths vouchers meaning the deodorant is completely free and I get the points for credit card spend."

Have not tried myself as didn't get the offer, it seems targeted to BUPA customers only. But if you did, get on to it!

Holy crap. What’s the cheapest BUPA plan I can sign up to? lol

      • I was just wondering that too!! But you may not get the email that you need to activate :/

        • How many insurance do you have? i thought you were with Qantas insurance.

      • +2

        Offer expires tomorrow.

    • I'm with Bupa where do I find this?

      • I'm not so my understanding is simply that it would have come via email. However if you have your BUPA acct linked, as per the conditions above, I presume it'd work? Worth testing out at least.

        • Thanks I'll link it and check

      • Have you linked your bupa to Woolworth rewards?

    • I have this offer and have activated it but I no longer able to see it under my offers sections.. Hmmmmm

      • Same here. It's not even under "ended". I've also had another offer that hasn't expired marked as "missed". It seems like there's a system glitch somewhere.

        • Same here. Activated it. Went a bit crazy with multiple transactions at the self checkout on Weds (and actually got more points than I should have — as in I was splitting everything up but I bought a $21 item and got 4022 points for that transaction — pretty sure that was an error as that’s not what the terms said). After that session my account was stuck with over 2000 points in my balance and a message that said something like “hang tight your points are being processed” for a bit, but all Qantas points eventually posted. Had been planning to go back for another go tomorrow before it ends, but it’s completely gone from my account. Have they pulled it?

        • Ugh, same here activated it few days ago and was gonna do a shop tomorrow but realised it's disappeared from my offers section in the app now. Wondering if they've taken it off given the points spree…

          • +2

@Craze: Try to check in Woolworths online and add just one of the eligible product to see you get bonus points or not.

I am getting 1000 bonus points when i add one of the eligible product in online for my Woolworths account which is linked to rewards card.

            • @Ozfanmel: Thanks for the tip! Seems like it still works but for only 1 item per transaction. Gonna do 2 separate ones and see if it applies.

              • @Craze: 1 lot of bonus points per T&Cs. No surprise there.

                • @Love a bargain: Yep. Confirmed this is still working for me despite it having vanished from my account. 1000 pts per $5 transaction as per the terms now. Would love to know the inside story on this one. What were they thinking?

                • @Love a bargain: Nice. Do you think once they find the issue on this promotion, they will revert the points allocated ? I got 40$ (8000) points today and not yet used for any purchase

    • +1

There was a glitch when the promotion first started.
I got $5 worth of rewards points for every $5 I spent so I spent $100 in one transaction and I got $100 worth of rewards to spend.
However, this is no longer available but you can still spend $5 or more and get $5 worth of reward points in one transaction.
It still works with multiple transactions that mean you can check out $5 at one time multiple times at the check out counter and received $5 worth of reward point for every transaction.

    • -2

They would of canceled it already if it was an error

  • Anyone got a direct link to the offer?

    • I was wondering the same. My searches have been fruitless so far.
I think it is too late now as the deal expires tomorrow.

  • Nice find - shame i left Bupa a while back

  • Damn, i never bothered to link my accounts because i rarely do big shops at Woollies anymore and the only offer was some crummy bonus points for fruit/veg for 60 days

  • Was surprised to see this only just starting to get traction and comments a week after it started. No brainer that it’s free $ or travel for the lucky few.

  • -1

hmmm, may be I need to renable my Bupa spam.

  • dont have it pretty sad

  • Banger of a deal.

Essentially free stuff if you can keep it to $5 each spend.

  • Just to confirm, after linking your Bupa account to your ER account, if you don't receive a targeted BOOST email from Everyday Rewards, you are sh*t out of luck, right?

    • Test by doing online order

      • Are you supposed to receive the bonus points instantly?

        • yes

          • @airpoe: Didn't work then. You do need to BOOST the offer as per the T&Cs.

  • What kind of numbers did people get for the week?

    • Pretty much Stocked up toothpaste, toothbrush, soaps, hand soaps , my missus once in the moon thing, shampoo, conditioner, uv lotion, medicines, and everything else under the moon of health and beauty section for at least a year worth.. For free or some extra few dollars

This must been way.. Way underrated bargain ever in Ozbargain history

      • Nice, how many woolies $ did you end up the week with?

        • Was doing it over period of 3 days, about $150 per day so I have nice $450 Woolworth credit. The one item per transaction is quite taxing and cumbersome plus I did get the "look" from the staff so can't do much more than that

Oh, I also managed to get my credit card blocked at one time as well.. Perhaps due to repeated $5 transaction lol

          • @elcheapo: Nice $150 a day, you really do have a few years of toiletries saved up

Yeah I had a few of them come over and ask did I need help.
One even offered to check the value of the gift card so I could stop doing 1x transaction at a time hehe

  • Got 18,000 QFF points out of this fantastic deal. Pulled up a couple of times at Woolworths SS check-out and asked why I was buying individually.

    • 18000 qff is worth for 180$? I was not doing qff point conversion so trying to understand how it would be beneficial

      • yes, if he/she had chosen the dollars option

  • +1

Scored over $200 worth of 'free' toiletries. This offered stacked with a 10x point offer.

I was very apologetic to the staff and only queued up when there was no-one else. Staff were excited (and perhaps a bit jealous).

We converted the points into dollars as we saw greatest value in this. In my view, Qantas points are next to useless in the current environment.

    • Qantas points are next to useless in the current environment.

      +1000

Qantas expired my last set of points because I was unable to use them by their stupid expiry date.

Booked Qualia on Hamilton Island with my Qff points via Qantas hotels for a family holiday 😀
