Google Pixel 4a 5G $599 (Delivered) @ Telstra (Officeworks Price Beat $569.05)

2050

Google Pixel 4a w/ 5G for $200 off RRP ($799)
Just put an order in for the phone outright with no associated plan - Will see in the morning if it's honoured
Not the lowest ever price ($559) but a decent price nonetheless (beating out some Black Friday discounts)

Edit:
As suggested by ozviktor
Price match @ officeworks for 5% off = $569.05

Further, price matched by Google stores and JB Hifi

            • @inasero: I've tried multiple times buying through the website. I have both created an account and used an existing one and it won't let me purchase the phone without an associated plan. That's the same as what the JB sales line told me. While it might have been available earlier without a plan, they have definitely changed it.

              • @Theycott: Interesting, yeah they might have changed it. When I last tried on Friday it allowed me to add to the cart.

Would be interesting to see if others have managed to sign up through Telstra

Can confirm both JBHifi and Officeworks accept this deal. JB issued me a link with a price match to buy online for $599.

Officeworks did do the price beat by 5%, so total $569.05

    Call them up, have fun.

    • Mind sharing which OW?

  • I've called both Officeworks and JBhifi but couldn't get a price match. They've both said you need to sign up to an account to purchase so they won't honour it. Anyone else having any luck? What have you said to convince them otherwise?

    • Its free to sign up to a Telstra account. I explained this to Officeworks Ringwood and they agreed.
If a particular store refuses just keep on calling around until you find one that agrees

  • office works have a memo circulating to not price match any of this, you'll waste more than $30 worth of your time trying to deal with them

    • True, though really they should as there's nothing about the Telstra deal which makes it significantly different to the product available through other retailers (other than the requirement of having to sign up for a free account).

If worse comes to worse, you could threaten to escalate the matter to the ACCC, as mentioned by a poster in the other thread (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/617109)

  • Finally was able to pick one of these up and the display looks really yellow like it has a blue light filter on. I've gone through settings and made sure that night sight and no other colour correction was on but it's still so much warmer than my current phone. I took it into the Telstra store to compare with the unit they had on display and it's definitely a lot warmer in colour temperature but they said that they couldn't tell the difference. I want to get it sent back but they said it would take 3 weeks and they're not even certain it would be fixed in that time. Has anyone had a similar problem? From what I can see online, a few people have said that the pixel uses a warmer profile but this looks off.

If anyone's still after this deal, I just purchased through Telstra for $599 outright! Create free telstra id and proceed to checkout for total of $599 one-off payment.

I bought one of these up from Officeworks Virginia on Friday night. Were a little confused at the price but we're happy to match it in the end. They had no stock, so did a click and collect and picked it up today!

  • I went to Officeworks Box Hill today, no luck there… Then I went to JB in Glen Waverley and nearly had them do it with a $99pm Telstra plan (12mths, 150gb data, 5G connectivity and $600 JB GC to offset cost of the phone). In the end JB couldn't do it either, the manager said it cost them more than $599 for the cost price… He offered me $700 as the best price they could do.

So what I did was simply used an old Telstra login I had (Note: I have no active service with Telstra), and was able to buy the phone online with free delivery.

Tip for anyone who doesn't want to do the run-around… just find a Telstra login and buy it using that…

    • You can sign up for one without adding any service to buy the phone outright
