It appears that these vouchers are now being released by local government areas.

Dine & Discover NSW is being rolled out through March 2021. Throughout each week, vouchers will become available in more and more Local Government Areas (LGAs).

Use the Dine & Discover NSW Voucher address check to see if you can apply for the vouchers.

Every NSW resident aged 18 and over will be eligible for four $25 vouchers worth $100 in total. The vouchers can be used at participating NSW businesses who are registered as COVID safe.

The Dine & Discover NSW vouchers will be divided into two categories:

  • two $25 vouchers to be used for eating in at restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs and clubs from Monday to Thursday, excluding public holidays.
  • two $25 vouchers to be used for entertainment and recreation, including cultural institutions, live music, and arts venues, available 7 days a week, excluding public holidays.

good to see the already rich and well supported areas like northern beaches get more support before the rest of the state.

Good work government. support the rich, and forget the poor… like always

    • +2

The reasoning for rolling out to the Northern Beaches first is because of the Christmas lockdowns. Waiting an extra week or two isn't 'forgetting the poor'

      • -7

they recieved extra stimulus packages for being "locked down" over xmas, which again was a load of crap as well.

        I stand my comment.

    • -6

The Fat cats at the big end of town are shitting on the poor Aussie battlers on struggle street!

Apparently this is how your average Labor voter thinks…

  • Have to wait 2 weeks as starts from 23 March in my council.

    FAQ:
Can I use the voucher with my favourite frugal feed restaurant ?
    Ie Maccas, KFC, Gomez?:

Yes / No.., firstly the franchisee registers at:
    https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/dine-and-discover-nsw/dine-d…

No for dominos/ pizzahut(Take-away) from reading the documentation, it is for sit down restaurant.

    What's a good deal?

    https://mcdonalds.com.au/menu/mcfamily-box
    Maccas do a Mega Family Box meal $39.95 + $5 (4 desserts)…

then apply a 25% off if you have a Maccas App…

"Good value feed for the whole family being a McValued NSW resident and customer"

Lol found the LNP shill. NSW government is corrupt as all hell.

      • I voted Labour, I can't say they've done anything but an abysmal job here.

Wouldn't vote LNP either, they don't seem to have any better ideas.

What do you do when all options suck?

At least the NSW has been the only state to manage covid and not knee jerk with border closures.

        • +3

I’d agree their decisions regarding Covid have been for the most part well thought out and beneficial, unlike some other states.

Decisions aside from that though… oiii.

      • +2

Lol found the LNP shill. NSW government is corrupt as all hell.

Because Eddie Obeid didn't happen lol…

      • +8

        John Pork-barrel-aro: oinks angrily

  • +6

The cynic in me says prices for dining in NSW is about to get a whole lot more expensive.

    • +4

Expect a lot of $25 deals.

    • +2

      An economist I see.

      • not really a bad one at it

    • they already have, since restrictions on patrons ive found my locals up a few $ here and there

    • Good luck, many places only started to pickup their business again since Covid settled. If you raise price now just for this voucher you won't have enough patrons to keep restaurants running

With Job keeper going away, this voucher won't help at all if the owners decide to put up prices.

This is not property. People can eat at home, but need roof over our heads.

  • +1

    Do vouchers work for takeaways?

    • only if the t/a place is a 'restaurant with sit down covid safe facilities'.. -> and they are registered for this scheme.

Go KFC order a 'sitdown' bucket, and take it away :P

  • +2

Was looking forward to this but the selection of available "Discover" options is paltry. You'd think more businesses would have signed up.

    • Hoping more places join between now and the date i move to NSW after the PA outbreak :p

  • +1

Hopefully restaurants don't price (Hungry) jack.

  • +2

Next up, $100 dining vouchers if you get the vaccine.

    • +2

      Not a bad idea TBH

      • I am in, lol.

  • +3

Selected fine prints from the voucher. Not very generous it seems e.g. cannot be used on weekend for dining.

    Dine voucher
*Single use only. Any unused amount will not carry forward
*Use between Mon - Thu (excluding public holiday)
    *Cannot be used for takeaway
*Cannot be used for food delivery
*Can be used for food and non-alcoholic beverages
*Cannot be used or tobacco, alcohol or gambling

    Discover voucher
*Single use only. Any unused amount will not carry forward
*Use between Mon - Sun (excluding public holiday)
*Cannot redeem more than 1 voucher at the same business on the same day

    • +3

      Sounds reasonable to me.

    • +10

Not sure why takeaway is excluded. Wouldn't this enable restaurants to serve even more customers as they aren't limited in the amount of table space they have?

      • Yep, ACT vouchers allowed take away and gave struggling businesses immediate business from those unwilling to eat in.

      • -1

idea is to encourage people to go out and eat with friends and families, encourage people safely with some limit in numbers to participate in dining etc to come back to the before covid mindset, hence takeway is excluded. This is just some thoughts (Maybe?)

  • To be used only monday to thursday

    • Only for the dining ones

  • +1

Yes I’m eligible now (City of Sydney) but slim pickings even for CBD ☹️ The Discover offerings are pitiful, can’t see me using these unless more businesses sign up. Also have to say search function is poor, many aren’t listed under trading name and the suburb by suburb search is painful too. Good idea done poorly 👎

    • +1

don't be afraid to travel. You have 3+ months.
can't please everyone all the time i guess…

    • I'm in the City of Sydney as well.

There's heaps in the city, from Metropole, to Opera Kitchen, Suminoya, Kobe Wagyu, Bowery Lane, Chophouse, The Rook, Long Chim, Bennelong, Vapiano, The Tea Room, Cirrus Dining, etc

Which restos are you hoping to jump on the list?

      • True but these are pretty pricey…

        • +1

Saw maccas at circular quay participating

        • +2

          Ohhh you're after something cheap.

Menya, Mappen, Ramen Zundo, Incanto Coffee, etc

          There's plenty.

    • Agreed my postcode contains multiple suburbs and each result was different depending on suburb name.

      • Agreed. Aside from it should be postcode based, a few queries I searched said "We have found 3 participating businesses in this area"… and then bring up 4 results in that suburb! Maths not a strong point.

      • -1

        What postcode? :p

  • +6

some pubs are doubling the value from $25 to $50

  • 2550 works

  • So this is where my tax money is going. This years tax summary breakdown is going to look very very different.

    • +4

It will be 90% to job keeper subsidies

    • +5

This is a state government scheme, your ATO "tax breakdown" won't include these vouchers directly

      • Yea, this is true, good point! :)

  • But how do residents receive the vouchers? Do councils post the vouchers?
Do residents have to apply online, otherwise they won't get it?

    • +1

Details are all in the link mate

  • +1

Come on Dan Andrews, lift your game !!

  • Finally Ingleburn is on the map! Got my confirmation

  • -1

    Good 😌 Country 😌

  • +8

Now we need some deals on the best offers people have seen. I have seen one cafe offering a lunch meal + coffee $12.50. You pay with the $25 voucher, and they give you another voucher to redeem another meal on your next visit. I see some place also offering to double the value of the vouchers to $50. Hope for some good competition and deals.

    Is one store! LOL

  • does anyone know if these vouchers/QR codes are locked to personal info anyway? There aren't any close places near me support these vouchers, I'd rather give them away

    • Doesn't seem to need to present ID so potentially someone else can use it

  • I don't think I'll be able to utilise the vouchers other than at night. It's going to be packed in the restaurants…

Bloody heck, what were they thinking? No takeaway.

    • +1

Given the current circumstances in Sydney you have a much greater chance of getting hit by a car than catching covid at any restaurant, crowded or not.

      • yet we still have to wear masks on public transport…

  • At least on mobile, searching for places to use these isn't easy as it restricts it to the specific town selected..not even post code wide results returned :/

  • Karens be like

You seem to have the concept of 'Karens' ass-backwards. Karens are those pushing and enforcing the propaganda.

  • Wonder if gift cards are excluded LMAO probably too much effort anyway

  • Want to know what are some of the better ways to spend the discover voucher. Not a movie fan

  • -6

The vouchers can be used at participating NSW businesses who are registered as…

    … compliant little sheep.

LOL. As usual the government couldn't organise a pub chook raffle. Where I live most people don't shop here because there's many more businesses 20km away in a larger town. But if you don't have a Con-vid compliant business in your actual suburb, even if you never shop there, you don't qualify. (There's plenty of places in that town 20km away though.) Seems the government hasn't heard of those new-fangled things called CARS.

Would be nice if someone can do a api listing the venues for “dine” and “discover”

    • Looking into it now :D

      • Anyone want to help me test it? :D

        • -1

ahyou cant develop but just test? lol

          • @[Deactivated]: Bit of debugging here and there…

            • @NGPriest: Change log: Fixed up suburbs with spaces in their names :D

            • -1

@NGPriest: That is same as testing and not development mindset as developers are one with brain :)

              • @[Deactivated]: Things to do: Run all requests at the same time to improve loading speed… :S

Note: Really annoying thing to do… Need to recode the entire site from scratch… And will only be used ~4 times for the 4 redemptions…?

                • @NGPriest: sorry mate i ain't understand you I am afraid, better dont reply back to this :)

                  • @[Deactivated]: Wow, you sound like someone who doesn't know English, trying to impersonate an aussie accent…

So, I'm trying to run all the requests using the API at parallel instead of in series.
That way, it'll increase loading speed instead of waiting to pull each request one at a time.

Hopefully, that's enough to explain the first part…

The second is, people will only use it at most 4 times, before they exceed the redemption limit.
Which is why I'm wondering if I should continue making the above changes…

                    • @NGPriest: Sorry mate I ain't read your comments, I am NOT "impersonating" aussie accent while I am aussie. Thanks

    • -2

why don't you do it? Are you a manager that just manages people's work? Not a techie? Coder? lol I can see

    • Want to test it for me? :D

  • Any cashback available?
