The ads (required to access the QR code) will run in "…select newspaper publications in Australia, …online websites, and via eligible alcohol brands' social media pages" (not limited to the Daily Telegraph).

    Beers will differ by state.

The QR code just links you to the MYY app website to install the app, sounds like there's no need to buy a Murdoch paper at all.

Really tempted to find out how much myapp.com.au would cost to buy (they linked it wrong, should be myyapp.com.au), if they keep that in the press info I could buy it and redirect it to local independent breweries lol

      • lol now that's professional thinking

      • Without the QR code, how do we get the $15 reward on the app?

        • +1

… fully complete your MYY App registration and click on the “National Local Day” promotional tile and complete your submission as prompted.
Upon submission, the claimant will be sent the gift of a $15 Vault Pays-enabled Prepaid Mastercard® to their Apple or Google wallet (depending on their smart phone device).

          • @tdw: Ok thanks. I guess to be safe, only do this on the 20th March.

  • +1

    And… NSW gets… Tooheys new.

  • +2

What does $15 get in you a pub these days?

A small pack of chips at best probably.

    • +4

2 schooners or 1 pint and a pack of chips

      • Depending where you go, 1 pint (no pack of chips).

    • +6

2 ice waters. And a steak.

    • +2

hopefully it doesn't get rorted too much! Independent pubs need the money and it sounds like everyone has worked out you can use this card anywhere to buy anything.

    • ONE SHOT FOR AFTER WORK ON FRIDAY!

    • The Village Tavern Golden Grove do a pint and Chicken Parmi $15. Wish there was other options but this is awesome value.

  • -4

op put location in title its in sydney?

    • It isn't restricted to NSW, or Sydney

      • +1

It's not restricted to anything, not states or even where you can use it. Its free cash!

  • +5

How will they know what you are trying to buy with the gift card? Could imagine it could be limited to specific venues but difficult to be specific products since it's a 3rd party gift card.

    • they wont

  • Has anyone registered yet? What is the promo/referral code?
Do we just type in "National Local Day" in the field?

-edit. Just done. No need for promo code. Just sign up. Then after registering, you have to select/press the National Local Day promo/tile - it's at the top of your screen.
Then go through and confirm again.
Note: You have to let the app have access to your location services in order to see the tiles.
You can always switch off access to location services after getting the card.

    • +5

Just skip that, I wanted to post here saying it's a bit strange, just leave it empty.
Actually, after downloading the app, you can immediately click on the banner for the $15, then proceed to provide your details.
      No promotional code required.

    • I don't see any banners after enabling location. The explore and venues tabs are blank and nothing comes up when searching either…

  • Cheers

  • +1

So the next thing to find out is if anyone tests using it at any other venue/shop.

    • +8

Tested it, works online for anything.

      • +5

shame they didn't try to lock it down to pubs. Looks like they are about throw away a lot of money on a beer promo they haven't planned that well.

        • These guys are a multi billion dollar business.

          This is chunk change.

    • Works everywhere. Just bought coffee!

  • +11

Just bought an Amazon gift card.

    • Where can you buy without the small charge for verification?

      • +1

Amazon does an authorisation charge for the $15, then processes the actual transaction

        • +1

Ok, so no "discounted" gift card then ;-)

        • I tried through amazon, but didn't get the authorisation charge and order remains in processing.

          • +1

@johnmelb: It can take up to an hour to process.

            • @HomeAlone: Ok.
My impatience is always making me nervous. I'll grab a beer from the fridge and come back later ;-)

              Thanks.

    • +1

In which website you have used this card ?

      • I believe @amanvell used Amazon directly.
I tried the same, but my order remains in "Processing".

        • Okay I tried same and it showing as processing.

          • @Ozfanmel: I can understand the reviews on Amazon wrt these GCs:

I'll buy in store next time.
Reviewed in Australia on 2 January 2020
Gift Amount: 50Design Name: Amazon LogoVerified Purchase
            Took a while to process.

3rd parties are processing immediately (and with discount).

    • Where did you bought Amazon gc using apply pay or google pay?

      • +3

Amazon.com.au, neither, just use the CC details you read in the myy app.

    • Confirmed this works (I didn't have to verify the card - but had to be very patient in getting it ~1 hour to process).

      • Where do you get the card details to enter into Amazon credit details for payment? Thanks

        • In the myy app. Click on the picture of the card.

  • +17

Just download myy app (search for it on play store or Apple store).
There will be a banner mentioning the $15 voucher.
Click it, allow location services, choose your local (doesn't matter where).
Add your details (requires mobile verification)
    Agree to terms and conditions
$15 debit card will be ready to go. You don't need to add it to your gpay/apay, can just use it as a digital mastercard and purchase eneloops.

    • Cheers buddy!

    • +4

Not great for independent pubs that Lion was trying support, but what can you expect when you give free money via a digital MasterCard

    • Cheers that worked so well!

  • Redeemed it today and worked well.

    • In store ?

      • +2

Yes of course. Went down to the pub with some mates.

        • Great enjoy

  • thnx op

  • Thanks OP :) Good Deal

  • +1

So can this be used for paywave anywhere or just at the venue you select when signing up and can you add money to the prepaid card to cover the cost of a full slab of beer as $15 off a slab sounds like a good deal to me!

    • Doubt any fund could be added. But paying by paywave is fine, just tested at the local Thai festival.

    • +1

I just used it for hot chips at the local chicken shop, no problemo.

  • +12

Use Prezze to purchase a gift card of your choice. Received gift card instantly.

this is why we can have good things!

        • I bet you do the same to free samples.

          • -8

@Clear: Nah, but 15 bucks worth of samples I would.

I read the terms then, seems it's on for a couple days not just today. I feel a biiiiit bad, but not a tonne, somehow I don't think the 10 between us, which near the end we were bumming other people's phones for so I mean I'd have just shot them the deal anyway and the same amount would have otherwise been used, point being, eh. 10 of them against thousands of others, not gonna lose sleep over a drop in the ocean.

          • +1

@Clear: yea, i'm sure a hundred and fifty dollars grow on trees.

      • +4

What is he is doing is chunk change.

Save your anger for the billions we are losing out on JobKeeper paying for dividends and executive bonuses.

$100 for him gets all this outrage but think about the billions of our money we are losing to corporate welfare and rorts under this incompetent Morrison government.

        • +2

You know the saying is "chump change" right?

    • nice, do EB gift cards stack?

      • -1

I think online you can only use one of them at a time w/ a different payment form but I really don't know tbh.

I'll just take my phone in store sometime when I have some time to kill and "purchase" a new gift card to the value of $165 (found another SIM and got it activated before) for convenience.

  • Managed to grab one!
    Cheers

  • -1
