  if you are good with computers, get one from pickles.com.au. it will be much cheaper. but there is risk that some part may be crap. However, for me I never had failures.

    Yeah nah. Not worth the risk.
    I bought an ex-office Lenovo several years back. Same specs. i5-6500, 8GB ram and 240GB SSD.

    Amazing desktop machine. Perfect for surfing the net. Even came with a GT720 so can handle 3840x1440p @ 100hz just fine.

  It appears there's not much difference between the good old i7 9020 and the 3040?

  Funny how prices have increased so much, I only paid $271 for my 9020 i7 16GB (HD 4600 graphics), 2.5-years ago !

    I've noticed the same, I paid $300 delivered for a 7040 i5 8GB 240GB SSD last June.

    Anecdotaly, I heard the most NSW government departments aren't reselling their old laptops and desktops like they used to, instead providing them into disadvantaged community programs. Possibly why the market isn't flooded with refurbs anymore.

    There's not much difference between 4th Gen till 7th Gen. i7s from 4th Gen and 7th Gen still only had 4 cores 8 threads. It's up until 8th Gen where i5 and i7 had 6 cores.

    I'm looking to upgrade from my i7 4770 and only 8th Gen and above will make a difference for me.

    I'm hoping to get an i7 10th system around the $1100 mark
