      "tss on 14/10/2011 - 13:31

I just got my two and I've tested them both using h2testw. Both are 29.4gig as mentioned above (although that is probably because they are formatted to NTFS), and I got 24MB/s write and 55MB/s read from them. So alot better them the USB 2.0 sticks I've had."

Someone tested them from a previous deal. Also just tested mine 59.93MB/s Read and 24.79MB/s Write.

      • Opened it up, price comes up as $39.99. Shipping unavailable.

        • Obviously the deal is over, he's just making a point as to what deals for it have been.

  • just ordered one. hopefully they have stock :)

    • Last deal with Patriot SDHC card. They have a lot left in stock. This one will probably be similar

  • USB 3.o and Cheap and easy to get too!!!!!
    i like

  • Read and write speeds for USB 2.0?

    It lists
    32GB - Up to 60MB/s read*
    32GB - Up to 25MB/s write*

But are these for USB 3.0?

    • +1

Yes. Those are the speeds you'll get with USB 3.0.

With USB 2.0 the write speed will be the same (or abit slower), and the read speeds will max out at 30MB/s.

  • Omg that's amazing. But their date says "from 14/10 to 15/10" I'm confused?

    • don't worry about that (ignore it). Its almost happen with their others promotion, like previous Patriot SDHC 16GB and clickfree promo.

    • +3

Because MSY dont deliver, never have.
Edit reply to dy4me: Lol months? It took MSY 5 years to get to an online website, another 5 years and they might deliver.

    • +1

yeah, 'cause it's a lot more difficult (illegal) to perform MSY's oft bait & switch tactics.

Oh, sorry, aussie boy, i sold last one 5 minute ago, you want another?

  • BAM - And the files transferred! :D

    • Such as? Cheapest I could find was $45 delivered from the US.

that sort of comment is useless without backing it up.

Be very careful buying data storage on eBay and never buy flash memory on eBay from Asia. There is a crapload of false capacity flash memory that will corrupt your data, and you can't tell unless you fill the drive to capacity and read it all back. Even smaller local sellers sometimes sell fake crap unwittingly thanks to buying fakes on Alibaba etc.

      • +1

Ebay is flooded with fake memory cards, USB drives and hard drives (typically sold by Chinese based sellers). I bought a 4GB Memory Stick from Ebay a long time ago and it was completely bricked after 6 months or so. Seller had a 14 day return policy, couldn't even contact them. Lesson learned.

    • +2

Yeah totally, I get my 1000GB flash drives for $5 from eBay, they are so legit and awesome!

      • you don't need flash drives Sammy, you've got megaupload man!

  • Almost ordered one, but I'm not sure I even need one…

    • +1

that what i said with getting a laptop 2 month later i needed one :D

    • You will need one when there is a good deal on laptops soon that have USB 3.0 ports :D

  • placed my order to pickup at cannington!

    cheers!

    • Small suckers!

    • Is there any way to attach a loop of string or a strap to it? And is the black bit a cap, or is it the outside of the USB connector?

      • +1

Don't know about the string thing but "…..Featuring a stylish cap-less design that hides the USB 3.0 connector when not in use, the Supersonic Xpress works like a pen to reveal the USB connector. …."

      • +1

There is, but scheps' bit broke, hence the photo with the bit that looks like a string/strap attachment piece missing :)

        • yea, the "u" bit is the string attachment and it breaks pretty easily. That would be the main draw back. Hence the potential for lost key.

          @jdr: sharp eyes!

  • So can you redeem this offer via pickup or does it have to be via online order? Can you just place a phone order and then pick it up?

I live 5 minutes away from my local MSY, hence have no need to register an account with them.

    • The best thing to do would be register and account, select pickup and then you can pick it up from the store without worrying about out of stock or higher price.

    • +2

An account is just an email address so they will reserve stock for you. You could place a phone order, but that would involve MSY answering the phone…

    • I just walk in there. Didn't even worry about stock level.

  • -2

Good luck to all if anyone can get one without Out of Stock response :)

  • +1

Brooklyn and North Melbourne has plenty, just got 3! =D

  • Good deal, almost tempted to buy one but barely ever fill up my 8gb USB key so think I will pass!

  • Thanks. Bought one

    • Nope. Out of stock.

  • How long do the branch confirmation emails usually take? Is it possible for me to still collect my order by going to the store without it?

    • My email is in (if thats any guide) from MSY Elizabeth SA.

One day to pay & collect.

  • +1

i ordered it online did not get a response so i just went in this is auburn branch around 50 left as of 1 hr ago too bad i did not get my headset :(

  • just got one thanks!

    • those are not the one they are selling and the speed on front say 60 read and 25 write

      • yes i know it is not

but what i mean is shouldn't usb 3 give u faster speed?
        ie 110mbs

        • +1

the specification considers it reasonable to achieve around 3.2 Gbit/s (0.4 GB/s or 400 MB/s) depending on hardware.
which is hundreds of times faster than the number you mentioned.

          see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB

and just because a flash memory drive uses USB3.0, doesn't mean it will be able to transfer data at the full speed.

  • No stock in WA. Friggin' blows.

  • About 15 left when I was there at 12:30.

    • where?

  • Picked up mine from Mitcham this morning.

  • Has anyone placed an order through brooklyn MSY and got a response back?

    • Look up a few posts to a previous post by a good looking guy named tommytill..

    • I only got the order confirmation once I sent them an email directly to [email protected]

  • Picked up a couple from Brendale this arvo as they were busy as this morning.

  • Hey the spring retraction device is broken on mine after minimal times using this USB stick. Is this why they are cheap?? Anyone else got a dud? When inserting into a USB slot it retracts on itself.

    • That's why I didn't buy one.

I would have bought one if was just your standard casing with a cap and I have never lost a cap.
I don't like the retracting mechanism idea. It just looks too flimsy.

    • If you push it into the USB socket by pushing on the black bit, you won't activate or stress the retract mechanism. I'm guessing you held onto the white sleeve while inserting the drive into the USB socket, and that is why it is broken.

I think this is a silly way to have a capless design. It's prone to breakage unless you use it in a special way that is not obvious.

    • I think the build quality is not that good

  • anyone tested these with an xbox 360?
