Piatti Fresh Garlic Bread 400g $1.99 (Was $2.69) @ ALDI

880

One of the best garlic breads available in the supermarket. $2.69 is a good value, but for $1.99 it's even better.

Best part… Made in Australia.

    Best part… wards off vampires

May give it a go, usually get the twin pack for ~$1.80

    • +1

used to buy these but found the $1.80 twin pack actually tastes better and with more garlic butter.

      • yeah and cheaper (were $1.77 maybe 11c more now).
I usually bung a half a one in the air fryer, goes good.

        • +1

Oooh I hadn't thought of airfrying!

  • +7

Are they back to using real butter again? Hate the margarine based ones. Aldi used to have great, real butter garlic bread baguettes but haven't seen them in a while.

  • +2

Can you use an air fryer to heat these up?

    • +3

You certainly can if you cut it into smaller portions.

    • +1

      Yeah and it works great!

    • I actually did this last night! 180 degrees for 5 minutes and you're done.

Comes out nice and crispy that way.

      • like hard crispy? it goes so dry in my oven (at least the supermarket ones)

        • +1

Not too hard, still soft in the middle.

I've been doing it for 3 minutes though lately, butter is still nice and soft and the bread feels more fluffy that way.

    • I just cut the standard ALDI ones in half and one of those fit in nicely. Personally try not to eat more than that at once as the salt and fat is through the roof. Works best if thawed on about 160 deg for 8 min

  • This stuff is very tasty. Definitely not good for you. Salty, buttery, garlic, great value

Still waiting for the bad part?

        Bad breath.

How good is garlic bread. This site needs more of it.

    • +2

Agreed! We also need more deals on cheese!

    • The best! Goes with everything

      • butter garlic and cheese will do that to alotta things

One of the best garlic breads available in the supermarket.

In Aldi, perhaps, but Woolies/Coles stock far better GBs!

  • Warning. It's so addictive.

  • +1

This sounds delicious, but I just want to know if they're generous with the garlic butter.

    • +1

There's plenty of butter on the loaf, no need to worry :)

  • +2

Srsly, I love Aldi and convenience but these are avg. at best. But so are the last 3 I have had from 3 different pizza joints, just terrible, I don't understand, it is so easy to make.
I eat a lot of pasta so make my own gb at least once or twice a week. I just put margarine (shock horror) in a bowl, crush 1 clove of garlic, some salt and mixed Italian herbs (or fresh if I have) and spread it on (Aldi's) sliced turkish bread and into the oven wrapped in foil. So easy, and better than anything you will buy.
    TLDR Make your own!

    • Why margarine vs butter? Is it a lactose intolerance thing?

    • -1

Sounds like you should be making your own dough and bread if going to that trouble :)
it's easy putting half a frozen (of the two pack) in the air fryer, minimal time and fuss. My oven is a bit weak but takes forever and more power. None of it's healthy so at least convenient is good :)

      • +1

Sounds like you buy all your food frozen ready to eat.

        • nah quite the opposite (whole food plant based), just one or two treats like that that are unfortunately a bit addictive. Easy to slip into bad habits with processed foods though where it should really only be 10-20%.

          • @G-rig: Ok cool. Well I consider I eat healthy but am not a fanatic, I consider a homemade garlic bread ok 1 or 2 times a week between the family. Surely it's got to be better than store bought garlic bread. Definitely tastes a LOT better.

            • @nepalesesquirrel: All good most stuff tastes better when you make it yourself, not arguing. Turkish and sourdough are a bit healthier breads anyway. Not a fanatic either but bit too much junk for a while now.

    • crush 1 clove of garlic

Did you mean to say one head of garlic? Because a single clove is nowhere near enough for garlic butter.

      • +1

Wasn't really a recipe, but yeah if I'm doing just one bread prob only one or two cloves, a head is a fair bit! Good amount for a big batch though. Can make up a heap of loaves at once and freeze, or even just put the made-up butter in the freezer, can use it for other things too.

  • Nah just what we commonly use, on toast or whatever, it's convenient, ready to mix, spread. I use butter in baking/cooking etc.

  • What's the garlic per cent on these? Many brands have cut back so it's negligible; hard to find a good one now.

  • ended up at aldi after my bunnings run…bought the bread. the power of ozbargain

  • Here's my Garlic Butter Recipe - your choice of bread.

250g of butter. I normally use salted but it's not critical. Aldi's own brand is good. NZ sourced is great as well.
    1 head of garlic, crushed. Yes - it's a lot…
    Some EV Olive oil
Some Chilli oil - homemade and optional but adds a lot to the taste
    Black Pepper
    Parmesan
    Dried Parsley

Mix at room temperature (or use a microwave for 10/20s to warm) and then enjoy…

Note - some might this too strong but we're from the UK and generally prefer food to be spicier then locals…

  • Why am I reading this after Aldi has closed for the night? Nothing is going to satisfy me now.

  • Im waiting for the day supermarket stocks Sizzler's cheesy toasts

  • +1

Great Garlic Bread. My way of heating in air fryer.

    Wrap in Foil
    Pre-heat 180 degree for 2 min
    Cook for 7 min
Cook for addition 3 minute without foil

Sides come out mildly Crunchy and Butter Melted Perfectly.

Also Cole Kitchen Range Garlic Bread is very good.

    • or just stick it in a conventional oven

  • 2.69 again when i went today
