Free SIM Card (No Loaded Value) Delivered @ Lycamobile

160

Blast from the past.

I went looking around for a free SIM to port in and out and an old deal for Lyca was alive again when I clicked through. Maybe it never went away - who knows? Anyway, they are free with free delivery and should OK to activate without spending anything, so good for porting.

By all accounts Lyca are pretty average although they do have a $9 50GB first month deal that may suit some (same link)

    Cheers, ordered 300

  • To port a number nowadays you need to receive a one-time-pin on the currently active SIM before the porting process can begin. You might want to make sure that your Lycamobile SIM (with $0 credit and no active plan) can actually receive SMS's first.

Lycamobile SIM's (with $0 credit and no active plan) have always been able to receive SMS's.

  • $9 50GB first month, how much cost per month ongoing?

    • $30/28 days so only good for the first month

Thanks OP, plucked for the 50GB/28 days deal. Some of these sim deals are so good they are keeping me from re-signing with iinet cable who are offering me $40/month first 12 months and unlimitied and no contract. A great deal in itself…

Good luck using that 50Gigs. I couldn’t use even 1 Gig in whole month it’s that slow.

Obviously location, congestion and equipment come into play IE making sure you have a device whose bands correctly match the frequencies available in your area. Not all devices have B28, for example. It's a Telstra re-seller so it should be at least reasonable in most areas. Have never used them myself though so cant comment from personal experience.

        • I believe they use some sort of VPN I think I had read somewhere which basically kills the speed.

          • @kelasen: not anymore

      • Oh, I will check it out before I rely on it for anything critical. Thanks - I think… :)

  • probably a noob question, but which $2 sim card can still be activated for porting or a new number without recharge?

    Thanks

    • Telstra sims (unsure - haven't tested in a while) & Optus sims with this hack apparently

      • Thanks, mate.
This hack with $2 Optus Sims is unreal!
