    For the $20 card only

  • +3

The giftcard hack is still working for ebay’s afterpay promotion.

    • what is the gift card hack?

      • +1

Don’t need an afterpay account to use the current discount code, you can pay with giftcards without signing up an afterpay account

    • it's been working for years, feels like they're not particularly inclined to "fix" it.

  • +5

Nice cashback. If only they made it available for $200 swap gift card… Too much hustle playing with redeeming and keeping track for $20 gc.

    • Yeah, easier to buy at 5% discount off some right ass on here 😂😂😂

But I mean it's still worth it in a sense, but max 7 is crap. I want a new monitor soon, so basically eBay or Catch gift cards will be the way to go.

      • Does eBay even enforce the 7 GC limit?

I haven't tried for a while but i could enter more than 7 GCs last time.

        • +3

          Yes

        • +1

Yeah i tried Friday and it just error'd out when trying to process payment.

        • +1

used 8 GC with the afterpay code 3 days ago…. gave an error at first, then tried again and it worked.

          • +1

@Jvin: My exp was the same. It is the 9th card that it rejects.

        • I used 8 cards and the afterpay coupon. Couldn't put another card down though

    • The purpose of this deal is to hook up people to pay 5% off on higher value ones. It is like a sample sale.

  • +4

Still better than cashrewards, I think they dropped the cashback to 1.5%

  • I bought some yesterday evening, converted them to eBay gift cards, but when I try to use them I get the message:
Looks like that's the wrong code. Please double-check and try again.

    Anyone know what's causing this?
    Swap's support is virtually non-existent

    • +8

Make sure you use the 13 digit code (not the longer card number). For some reason this is labelled as the PIN.

      • omg, thank you!
Like an idiot, I was entering the card number as the gift card number

        • +1

You're not the only one. I did the same thing too!

    • There are two codes. Use the second one that has less digits.

  • +5

Too many problems with ShopBack paying cashbacks. I lodged a missing cashback 9 days ago. Still no reply, no email, nothing.

    • +2

have you ever purchased a gift card via Shopback app? It is all internal to Shopback, CB is immediate.

      • +2

        CB is immediate.

tracked immediately but it says available by March 31st

  • Actually the only value is the larger denominations ( I'll upvote because of that ) to squeeze in with your 7 card limit for larger purchases on the Afterpay promo :)
No way serious people are going to be `^ ing with lower values with 10% off Ebay $100's elsewhere .

  • +5

should be banned, blatently refusing larger cashbacks with no proper explanation.

    • Just like Ponzi scheme, you get $1 alright, get hooked, gamble more, but not $100 ones

    • +2

Banned from where? If you're talking about ozbargain, I appreciate your concern but I'd rather be aware of the deals, understand the risks and make my own decision on whether I want to take them up, not have that decision made for me and be unaware of the deals.

    • Eh, I had a $393.02 cashback from the 100% Cyberghost VPN deal that didn't turn redeemable, but they automatically resolved it after I lodged a query.

    • +5

yep i refuse to use them now, all of my large cash backs get denied.

  • +2

$20 vouchers really isn't worth the hassle of having to buy, then swap them and then wait for the cash back. You can use up to 7 vouchers so you'll never get more than $14 off in a transaction for all your work.

    • +4

You can use up to 7 vouchers so you'll never get more than $14 off in a transaction for all your work.
      $11.2

There many items under $140 that you can pay with the $20. Many people has several accounts, when you have a $200 eBay GC and partially used it the rest is stuck in there until next purchase.

There is a risk that shopback doesn't pay the cashback tho

    • +1

Wrong. You will not get more than $11.2 off in a transaction purely using $20 vouchers with 8% cashback. You can get more than $14 cashback using higher denomination vouchers with 5% cashback.

  • So I'm assuming the Swap website has fixed its issues from yesterday? Would be nothing more annoying than purchasing gift cards and being unable to redeem them

    • +2

I redeemed 10 this morning, no issues

      • Sweet will jump onboard

  • +1

So I've paid for 7 of the shop back cards but haven't received anything. Browsed through the app and can't see these cards …

  • +1

I can confirm that I have used 8giftcards plus promo code before.

  • +5

    Here is my experience:

TLDR: Swap sent me wrong ebay codes that don't work and now not responding to me.

Bought 2 $20 swap giftcard from similar last promotion of 8% cashback.

Transaction went through okay, no problems tracking the cashback… Cashback got confirmed in a few days as well… The problem was with the Swap.

I swapped the gift cards for ebay gift card as most of us here are thinking to do. I got sent the gift card codes for ebay but when I tried the gift cards on ebay, it didn't work. Both of them, just didn't work.

I contacted the swap cards and they said not our problem contact ebay. Which am sure would not be fruitful because ebay wouldn't even know about this transaction that I had with Swap.

Still chasing Swap but after first comms they have now stopped responding.

Thanks everyone for replying on this.. yes I was using the card number and not the pin code.

        Man that's frustrating.

        Thanks for the help!

        • +1

Once you buy enough ebay gift cards, you'll always know it has 13 digits. The card number is only a unique identifier but not the actual redemption code for ebay. It would be bad if you used the redemption code to go around asking for assistance with it.

    • +1

Are you sure you're using the right code…?
On eBay, paste in the PIN code from the card, not the card number.
I bought two cards too and they both worked.

    • +1

Did you also try using the 13-digit number provided as a “PIN code”?

  • anyone able to give a dummies step by step guide to this?

    • -1

      Sure , don't !

      • +1

you upvoted the OP but don't advocate for it?

        • -1

          OP is not a dummy

          • -1

@avoidfullprice: I can't agree with other method as advocated in this thread in play .
No way in the world I buy $20's even with the time factor `^ ing with them .

  • Can anyone give me an idea please of why this would of stopped working?

I have done one transaction earlier today and now it is no longer letting me purchase an item with the cards. After I click confirm, it says that afterpay is no longer being offered and my order doesn't go through.

Any ideas? I think the purchase limit of 2000 a day applies to the GC's but is there any other limits?

    Thanks heaps.

    • you can only use the code 5 times?

      • I think it is 8.

I just made a new ebay account and used my other vouchers on that and it worked but it appears my other vouchers I tried with originally are now locked up on my original account?

  • 8% off $20 eBay gift cards is a great deal. Such good luck!

    • I'm new to the gift card "hack". How does it work?

      • Use Shopback app, buy Celebration SWAP gift cards at 8% off, go to swapyourgiftcard website and redeem for eBay gift cards.

  • +1

anyone else struggling to pay with their banks on shopback giftcards?

    • I got a nab error on the handshake twice. 2 other times it actually didn't get past the main buy page (where you select how many cards you want).

  • Any news if they're restocking the higher value ones for swap gcs?

    • You're thinking now buying later? Why?

      • Late to check the ozbargain mate :( all these afterpay deals just blitz'd while I was away. :(

  • +4

I bought $80 of this last time and none of the giftcards work on the swap website when checking balance or trying to redeem

    • Exact same experience here, not redeeming at all. Irritated that I need to waste more of my time sorting this out

      • Just as a heads up i re-tried same details on swap today and they all work now. Whatever the problem was seems to have resolved…

Have revoked my neg and credit to shopback rep on here who was willing to help pretty quickly! Thx :)

  • +4

Bought multiple of these, first 5 worked fine. The rest state that they are not recognized, cannot swap them for anything. Have quadruple checked I've put in the correct card number and PIN on the swapyourgiftcard.com.au site for the cards after the first 5. They better fix this when I contact them on Monday.

Between this latest screw up through shopback, denying multiple high value cashbacks and promos (but strangely all the small value items are fine), and the compromise of their database (causing my inbox and mobile number to become a dumpster fire of spam) I am steering well clear of Shopback. It was great when it worked smoothly but sadly no longer.

Avoiding Cashrewards too for similarly denying high value orders and promos when I've met all the conditions (and ensured the categories qualified for cashback), even offered to show a screen recording of me following all the correct steps in a clean browser without ad-blockers etc. Again all the smaller value cashbacks work perfectly fine for some strange reason. Customer support always offloads the blame to the retailer which may or may not be true but doesn't help me in the slightest.

Not even worth letting these companies have access to my purchase history data, they've both become total garbage in my personal experiences lately

    • Same with me, bought 8x$20 recently and can't redeem it. Might want to wait for another 5 hrs and re-check.

      • +3

Try checking balance on them… mine state 0 transactions and $0 balance so don't think they were ever activated. Am reaching out to swap and shopback but as above its rubbish to have to waste more time for such a paltry return

        • +2

Yeah I tried, none of them have any transaction history. I'll try to contact them if by 7am if I still can't use it. Yeah it is quite annoying 😢.

      • +2

Yes hope it resolves during the day. Not looking forward to another seemingly endless customer support email chain with the gift card provider (if they even have proper customer support)

  • Warning to others looking to use Swap, you can't redeem them!!!

I just purchased a few and get this error on the website like others are posting:

"Sorry this card number has not been recognised. Please make sure to see see if the card number is valid and that the card has been activated from the retailer of purchase.
Please make sure you have entered the correct card numnber If the issue persists, please get in touch."

Pretty frustrating and hope they fix by the morning.

    • Same prob with me, seems to be due to Swap not Shopback as I can’t access card that I haven’t used up (successfully swapped for $10 Ebay). Hope the AfterPay deal is still available after this is fixed.

      • +1

Seems to now be fixed as my Swap vouchers have now worked without errors. Was able to swap them for Ebay vouchers which all worked fine on Ebay.

    • I had that pop up on one of my $20 Swap cards but then I opened a new browser window, retyped it in, and away I went. Maybe I made a typo in the initial entry shrug.

(to put in perspective, over the last few days thanks to Afterpay deal, I've bought about 15 of the $20 cards and have been redeeming them prior to purchasing)

  • I gone through huge amounts with the current BigW deal and previous Coles and Wollies deals and never have had a problem.
Looks like another of this brilliant merchant problem .

    • Not defending ShopBack.

But once the swap is purchased is not a shopback issue. It is swap site.

I have purchased 16 from shopback app, yesterday and today. All without any issues

      • I'd disagree especially with the major problem I've had so far is merchants not activating them correctly !

  • +1

They promised me to fix the cashback issues by the end of this week but so far still not fixed yet (It has been almost 1 month since I started the enquiry), not happy at all about this. What a bunch of liars.

  • +1

Odd, 1 out of my 5 gift card failed to generate after swapping. Normally it had gone through fine. Oh well, guess I'll just have to wait or shoot an email support later.
