        • Did you use it with Trade In? I tried using mine and got a message saying voucher applied but doesn't affect the total

          • @Lesco Brandon: same $200 not working with Trade in

          • @Lesco Brandon: Same issue here…chatting with them now but doesn't look good…works without the trade in then when I add the trade in it nulls the $200 discount.

            • @Daz4: yes whichever is max discount applies and nullifies lower amount

            • @Daz4: Yup. Let me know how it goes.

              • @Lesco Brandon: Just had a chat with an agent and sadly the two offers don't stack anymore….was waiting for a S21 restock oh well

        • @bagemon : Where are you and your proof mate? If you got it to work, can you please tell us how? Thanks!

          • @lordra: mb thought i had it working. I could apply the discount + 50 voucher before adding the trade-in which worked but once you add the trade-in, removes the 200 voucher :(

  • We have 7 days to send the phone right? Did someone say then we have 7 days extention reminder? I received my phone on tuesday evening. AUS POST WIL BE closed next few days? How does that work?

    • Is it 7 days from receiving the new phone?

    • 7 days from receiving new phone, on 7th day you get an email saying you have another 7 days.

      • Alright. Thanks for the info. Intend to get an online store exclusive colour which takes up to 5 weeks 😉

    • Have you received the email with the return details yet? I received my phone yesterday but still no email as yet for the return (checked spam folder already).

      • Check your order status on Samsung website in it should be as "dispatched". It's my understanding that once their system will show the delivered status, you will get the trade-in device email.

        • Ah yes, you're right it's still saying "Dispatched" for me. Ok good to know then. Thanks!

My wife rang to confirm $500 promo as well in case we want to keep old phone and was told that Asurian will charge handset fee and it makes you ineligible for Samsung and then samsung charges $500 back later. She put her on hold and said this is confirmed hy support team. They also said we are sorry if someone else said on chat that you still get it but that is in TnC as a must requirment.

  • There's also an issue with the app where if you're trading in a tablet without IMEI, it doesn't work

    • Yea, I figured. It asks me for a serial number instead of the imei. And then it fails.

S21 ever coming back in stock? I need one in Grey doesn't matter 128gb or 256. More I chat with those "experts" more dumb I get..

    • Keep refreshing

  • +1

Anyone who bought a custom phone colour, did it take the 4-5 weeks to arrive?

    • Yes, mine arrived on 27th April.

      • +2

        When did you ordered?

  • Hi guys,

I have an S8 that has a cracked screen (but otherwise fully functional)

The app says I'm ineligible for trade up because of the cracked screen.

Has anyone had success with false declaring in the trade-up app that the screen has no crack to get the trade-in code?

The trade-in value otherwise would have been $55 if the phone was in perfect condition, and I'm happy to pay that difference once they find out that my phone has a cracked screen.

    Does that work?

    • Asked hundred times no confirmed case yet😅

    • Lmfao thats not how a trade in works. Samsung don't want 55$ of your money. They want your working phone for other continuation/production purposes that will definitely exceed a 55 dollar value.

      • +3

Samsung doesn't actually want those phones. Asurian is the one getting them. It is just an incentive to entice people to upgrade.

      • Most of them will be thrown out.

It's not even worth the manual labour cost to pay someone to open each one and disable it.

        Especially if it's $50 or $90 phone

        • -1

my trade up phone is s6 edge plus only worth $10, do you mean they will just throw out directly rather than open and test it? if in that case, can I email them and ask if directly charge $10 and don't bother me to send to them.

        • They are a multinational company and can outsource the phones for cheap labour, refurbish it and sell elsewhere with permission from Samsung and other major mobile companies..

        • +1

there is a reason why they are a billion dollar company… they will not throw them out and they will chase every single penny

    • -2

Just don't return the phone and get charged $55. Will work. I am doing the same thing.

      • +1

I am worried about they will charge $500

        • These phones are unlikely to ever see the light of day after they are sent to Asurion. Likely will be sold off as bulk lots to a E-Waste recycling company or done so in-house. The cost margins are too low even on newer devices to bother doing anything else.

Keep in mind, Asurion can only ever charge you the amount your phone was valued at. Now as for Samsung charging for the $500 bonus, nobody knows yet. Although the T&Cs don't make it seem that they will, so we should know in the next week or so, as the earlier orders come into play.

If your super hesitant about it, you have a return window. Don't open it and wait it out, see what happens. Worst case, just return it.

      • How do you know it will work?

        • +4

          Caz stone cold said so!

        • I only gave permission for Asurion to charge $235 in the event I don't return my phone. If they charge more than that, I would go through my bank.

          • @praga: that sounds like a plan

          • @praga: I think asurion will just tell Samsung a list of account didn't return their phones

            • @superforever: When the Credit card details were entered, it cleaarly said you will be charged a non-return fees of 80 dollars. and the transacation on samsung website was with a debit card.

          • @praga: Well it wl be Samsung online that will deduct $500 and Asurian just $235

            • @BinnyC: How can samsung online deduct from the credit card that was only authorised for ausrion to deduct 235?

              • @U30004: Not sure but that is what Samsung said. That Asurian will charge phone cost and Samsung can then charge $500 back..

            • @BinnyC: I never authorised Samsung online to deduct $500 from my card

              • @praga: Why would you not return your phone for the sake of sticking to the deal with Samsung? This scummy behaviour will ruin it for everyone.

                • -1

@Exec-Matrix: Why would it, Samsung does not care about the old phones. Manufacturers cannot sell below RRP easily, so they come up with these kinds of deals to get away with it. Similar to Sony's box damaged deals.

                  • @praga: past trade in deals Samsung have done suggest otherwise

                    • @ohtaek: Do you have any source confirming that?. I couldn't find any

                      • @praga:

Do you have any source confirming that?

                        People guessing.

Not return at your own risk.

                      • @praga: https://www.androidpolice.com/2019/04/11/samsung-is-screwing…

Samsung ran a similar deal in the US, and people got done for the trade in credit $500+

                        • +4

@ohtaek: In US, in your provided link, Samsung is doing trade in by itself and gave trade in values upto 550$. So thats the bonus trade in value. But in here, a different company is doi g trade in and there is specific trade in value. What samsung gave in their website is the promotion for trade in. So two different scenarios. So, in US, they already authorised that amount wile doing trade in as samsung gave bonus and trade in value in together. So in trade in app, they can see the value as $550 already. But here different story. And as nobody authorised to deduct more amount than trade in values, it hard for samsung to charge that $500 dollors. So, it will not be as simple as US. So, there is high possibility that it will not charge back. Let see what happens in couple of days

              • @praga: Probably never read their t&c

        • +3

It is unlikely that Samsung will charge you $500.

          1. In their T&Cs they explicitly mention that you get charged the discount you received in case of non-return. If you look at your invoice, they call the trade-in amount discount and explicitly mention the $500 as bonus.

          2. On the product page they mention that you get an additional $500 if you use a trade-in. The bonus gets applied wether you return the device or not. Samsung could have chosen another way for providing the bonus … cashback. Other manufacturers provide you with an EFTPOS giftcard or transfer it into your bank account AFTER they verified eligibility.

          3. They already contradict their own T&Cs … They mention that the trade-up app requires credit card details which isn't true. I for myself signed up with a debit card that I rarely use and only for online purchases.

          4. Samsung (and Asurion) would have to jump through hoops and fulfil a bunch of requirements if they want to store credit card details. Most companies opt for the use of payment gateways. The payment gateway usually returns a token which is good for a one-time use.

          5. Using the trade-up app already mentions the amount you will get charged in case of a non-return.

          6. The trade-up bonus is applied by Samsung, Asurion works with other companies together (e.g. Vodafone). What use is it for Samsung to give a bonus for non-Samsung devices (e.g. Apple, Google, …)?

          • @dragonos81: Trade Up or Trade In? No return can still be a Trade Up if I fail to Trade In provided I do in fact own the older Samsung device.

          • @dragonos81: I get your point. As someone posted email screenshot from Asurian that promotion stays as it is.

But when i rang Samsung again,i was told technically if you dont return your device, you may become ineligible. This was from Online team on 1300 number but then another Expert did confirm on same number before that you get to keep $500 discount. So, dont know now what to do but both Expert did say to check with Asurian which could clearly be seen in yhe email screenshot.

Its just you dont want anything to go wrong with getting charged $500 when they have said in email you get to keep it.

SAMSUNG team should have better training and knowledge of their T &C too to answer any queries correctly so everyone is on same page.

  • I was really looking forward to upgrading my 4 year old Galaxy s8. Was waiting till my payday to put the order through. Now its out of stock. So devastated.

    • Devastated for a phone mate?

      • More about the bargain than the phone.

        • True that

      • +11

Way harsh…. since when is ozbargain a place to judge people on their financial situation and what they can spend their money on. You know nothing of Hoarder77, his personal situation or financial status. Your comment demonstrates your lack of empathy or ability for compassion.

        • I agree! Unfortunately it's becoming more and more common here.

        • -2

oh but I do know his/her financial situation because it was one piece of information that was provided. tell me one reason, other than not having financial capacity, as to why one would need to wait for pay day to be able to order a phone?
If you think buying a high end mobile phone when you are living one pay check to the next is wise, there is not much more to talk about.

          • @keejoonc: 80% of young australians live pay cheque to pay cheque 😂

Will have to find the stat later. Might be 18-25 yr olds though

  • They have reduced trade in value of phones now. Iphone xr 128gb was $305 now only $215
    :(

    • I did wonder why my oppo reno z dropped from 90 to 50

    • Yeah iPhone SE (2016) used to have trade value of $5 (no joke) up until they updated it a few days ago.

      Now it's not even eligible.

  • -2

No charge and also no wired earphone? So we have to pay extra money to buy earphone

    • Who doesn't already have multiple headphones lying around? At worst you'll need a.$5 adapted.

      • My iphone charger and earphone cannot be used in samsung devices

        • You can use your iPhone charger. But it won't do fast charging though. If you are using it for overnight charging, it wouldn't matter much.

        • Take it up with Apple.

    • There is no headphone jack on the Galaxy S21 series.

  • Just got a $200 code and def not stacking with the tradeup bonus/credit

    • Are you sure? How do you get it and does it work with a samsung watch or tablet?

      • +1

Works only with phones…S20, S21 series and note 20

  • S21+ is sold out as well.

  • +5

I hope whoever didn't keep their part of the deal by returning the phone to get the $500 off gets a bill from Samsung.. No wonder good things don't last because of scummy behaviour

  • -2

They will just block the IMIE. They have it, they have paid for the phone.

Edit: But to be fair they did keep our charger and headphones :D

    • Lol, blocking IMEI isn't a part of the terms and conditions

    • They will swipe your credit card. Much easier. Don't overestimate our old phone values. Honestly, only we care individually. Do you want to get another OZBer's old phone?

  • Anyone who got the phone does it come with the free case?

    • No case

    • +1

      No confirmed case.

    • No, but comes with a screen projector preinstalled.

      • screen projector preinstalled.

Screen Projector free, have to ask Samsung to deliver it back to me 😆

        • haha

  • So with s21 and s21+ out of stock, is this deal mostly dead? Anyone know if they'll have more stock before deal ends?

I was hoping to get one after Easter travels but looks like I missed out otherwise. :(

    • The promo ends on the 8th. Still few days to go which they may add more stocks. Or order S21+ with a custom colour.

    • Is the Ultra still availble?
I thought Ultra was a decent deal too. Happy to be corrected

      • Still available last I check. Or order custom.

    • Hopefully re-stocked on Monday(or Tuesday) morning. I ordered mine last Monday morning around 8:30 am (Perth time) so I guess they do re-stock enough quantities then.

  • Guys just want to konw, is someone's customised order is also showing as processing?? I ordered on 29th and still processing!

    • +1

      Same, ordered 31st.

    • +1

Same here, ordered 29th. Looked at whirlpool. Someone said …

( ordered mine on Tuesday, same phone as yours. I tried to change the colour on Wednesday and was told I could not but she also said my phone was scheduled for delivery on April 19th )

  • No longer can stack $200 voucher and $50 one since 30 March, i shoudln't have waited to complete the order.

    • I failed to order one before 30 March in order to wait $50 one, as same as you. Then pull the triger at about 10:30PM without $200. That's still a good deal.
